Robin Miller was the Gatorade Player of the Year for Washington
last year as he played running back and outside linebacker for
Kent-Meridian High School. A first-team all-state player on
offense, he also returned kickoffs and punts. Miller rushed
for 1,726 yards and 16 touchdowns last season to earn SuperPrep
All-America honors and was ranked 32nd by the same publication
among running backs. He ranked seventh in SuperPreps Northwest
Top 38 team, playing for Coach Bruce Rick at Kent-Meridian High
Schhol in Kent, Wash. He had six receptions for 78 yards, returned
10 kickoffs for 209 yards and had 25 tackles (10 solo) and one
sack as a senior. Miller was named a Northwest Nugget, representing
the best of the 1998-99 high school football recruits in Washington,
Oregon, Idaho and Alaska by the Tacoma News-Tribune and ranked
second among running backs in the Western One Hundred by the
same publication. He also earned PrepStar all-region honors
and ranked seventh among running backs in the Western Region.
Miller, who was an honorable-mention Best in the West selection
by the Long Beach Press Telegraph, set eight school records
and two South Puget Sound League records (1,726 yards rushing
and 2,072 all-purpose yards) and averaged 184.6 yards per game.
He gained more than 100 yards in all nine games in 1998, with
his lowest total of 138 coming against Kentridge, as he was
the South King County Newspaper Player of the Year. He had four
200-yard games, including a school-record 264 yards and three
TDs against Enumclaw. The first time he touched the ball for
Kent-Meridian as a sophomore, he scored on a 90-yard run. He
rushed just 13 times his sophomore year, but gained more than
1,000 yards and led the SPSL in scoring his junior season. He
became the most prolific tailback in school history passing
former KM standout Robin Earl with more than 2,889 career rushing
yards with 35 career TDs. Combined with his 38 all-purpose TDs,
he had 73 total. He also ran track last season posting a personal-best
10.7 time in the 100 meters. He attended the Nebraska football
camp last year and committed on his trip to Lincoln in late
October. Miller did not visit anywhere but Lincoln, but was
recruited by Arizona, Colorado, Michigan, Northwestern and Oregon.
He said, I really liked the coaching staff and I had a
great trip. I enjoyed hanging out with the players and liked
everything I saw. The son of Shane Miller and Timorye
(Timmie) Murray, Robin was born on Feb. 11, 1981.
