Igor Karev is currently the executive director at Action Forms Ltd. . Their current project, Ice Age, is discussed in this interview. You can learn much more about the company and their fabulous hunting games(Carnivores, Carnivores 2), by visiting their web site.

Q1: I will start by thanking you for taking the time to do this interview. For my first question, when you are not toiling away in the office, how do you spend your free time?(What books do you read, what games are you currently playing, etc.)

A. Our team have not enough spare time, because most of our time is spent at work. My favourite books are detective stories, and I like to read economic literature, I always study. My favourite game is Rainbow Six. All the others like playing Q3A, UT as well as NFS and other car sims very much. But the most favourite way of spending time is work.

Q2: You are labeled as the "executive director" for Action Forms Ltd. . What type of work does this entail? How much involvement do you have in the actual creation and development of the games your company produces?

A. My responsibilities include financial administration, general management of the company, strategic planning, marketing and public relations. Though PR for me is a new science, I try really hard to master it. I am not involved in the actual process of development of the games, I only supervise the fulfilment of the project. I have a great team, they all are professionals and I entirely trust them.

Q3: What did you do before you started(co-started) Action Forms Ltd. ?

A. Before we started Action Forms my basic occupation was study, but also I worked in a financial company, where I met Denis, our deputy director. I was not engaged in games development before. Later I have got acquainted with Oleg, our lead programmer and Yaroslav, our artwork director, who were already working on creation of a game. But their work was a kind of hobby. Later we have got an idea of creating a commercial product. We started working together and so our company was formed.

Q4: Please tell us about your current project, Ice Age, and its intent as a game.

A. Ice Age is a hunting simulation game similar to Carnivores II. Instead of its prequel, events of Ice Age take place in a different time period and on a different planet, filled with prehistoric creatures such as: mammoth, wooly rhinoceros, cave bear, saber-toothed tiger, etc. When a player starts the game he is given 100 credits, which he can use to buy weapons ammunition and licenses for hunting. At first, he can only afford to hunt harmless herbivorous creatures. Shooting an animal gives player additional credits, so he can later access better weapons and ammunition, and also hunt for more dangerous creatures on better hunting locations.

Q5: What do you think the most impressive thing is about Ice Age?

A. The most impressive thing about Ice Age is its realism. All the hunting locations, creatures, weather effects look very close to life. We have made a lot of efforts to do so and hope players will like it.

Q6: What do you see Action Forms Ltd. doing after Ice Age is completed?

A. Now we are working on creating of a new engine for our new game, we have got a bunch of ideas, which we are going to implement in it. Later, I shall be able to tell more detailed information about it.

Q7: Everywhere you look, a new online-only game pops up. Do you plan on following the online-game craze and producing a massively multi-player game?

A. We plan to make multiplayer as a vital part of a game, but we are going to emphasize a single player game. However, everything can happen.

Q8: Thank you again for taking the time to do this interview. Is there anything you would like to add that was not covered?

A. Thank you for your questions, it was a pleasure to answer them.
