Christmas Tree

Materials:
4 ply worsted weight yarn
Size G hook
Fabric glue
Beads, sequins, etc.

Instructions:
Ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, join with a sl st. (6)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, and work even, join with sl st to beg sc. (6)
Rnd 3: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in same st, sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc, join with sl st to beg sc. (8)
Rnds 4 and 5: Ch 1, working in both loops, work even around, join with sl st to beg sc. (8)
Rnd 6: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in same st, *2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc*, rpt from (*) around, join with sl st to beg sc. (12)
Rnds 7 and 8: Ch 1, working in both loops, work even around, join with sl st to beg sc. (12)
Rnd 9: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in same st, sc in next sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc*, rpt from (*) around, join with sl st to beg sc. (16)
Rnds 10 and 11: Ch 1, working in both loops, work even around,join with sl st to beg sc. (16)
Rnd 12: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in same st, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc * rpt from (*) around, join with sl st to beg sc. (24)
Rnds 13 and 14: Ch 1, working in both loops, work even around, join with sl st to beg st. (24)
Rnd 15: Ch 1, working in back loops only, sc in same st, sc in next 2 sc, * 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc * rpt from (*) around, join with sl st to beg sc. (30)
Rnds 16 and 17: Ch 1, working in both loops, work even around, join with sl st to beg sc. (30)
Fasten off yarn, turn tree inside out.

With "point" of tree closest to you, insert hook in last row of unused loop of sc (rnd 15), join yarn.

  • Ch 4 (counts as one tr), 2 tr in same unused loop, * 2 tr in next unused loop, 3 tr in next unused loop * rpt from (*) around, join to top of ch 4 with sl st, fasten off yarn.
  • Find unused loops of rnd 12, insert hook and attach yarn, ch 3 (counts as first dc), tr, dc in same loop, dc, tr, dc in next loop and in each loop around. Join to top of ch 3 with sl st, fasten off yarn.
  • Find unused loops of rnd 9, insert hook and attach yarn. Ch 4 (counts as first tr), dc, tr in same loop, tr, dc, tr in next unused loop and in each unused loop around, join to top of ch 4 with sl st, fasten off yarn.
  • Find unused loops of rnd 6, insert hook and attach yarn, ch 3 (counts as dc), tr in same loop, dc, tr in next loop andin each unused loop around, join to top of ch 3 with sl st, fasten off yarn.
  • Find unused loops of rnd 3, insert hook adn attach yarn, ch 3 (counts as dc), tr in same loop, *dc in enxt loop, dc, tr in next loop* rpt from (*) around, join to top of ch 3 with sl st, fasten off yarn.
  • Ch 5, *dc in 4th ch from hook, tr in same sp* rpt from (*) to complete 12 stitches. Join to top of ch 5 with sl t, fasten off yarn. Glue tree topper to the tree top.

Decorate with beads, sequins, etc.
