THe Ottomans homepage is outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!! Your site is the only one standing up for the Truth!
This Web Page is beyond description!! Very Beautiful!! This is the best thing that has happened to Muslims all over the world!!It is truly Awsome!! Keep up the excellent work.Everyone must know their TRUE ISLAMIC HISTORY!!!!!!
Thank you for the idea. I do however recommend that someone go back and edit spellings more carefully: "Akhmed" does not exist, "Kahn" is, I believe, the brand name of a line of Kosher meats, and "Solyman" is not English, Arabic, or Turkish.
Also, the section on Modern Turkey, in many ways the crucial if the purpose is to be more than to bask in faded glory, probably needs more than a picture of Ataturk.
Furthermore, there were weaknesses and corruption that were also present in the empire. These need to be pointed out and accounted for, at least in broad strokes, if the site is to be regarded as objective instead of as hagiographic tabloid.
Very impressive. This will be very useful for beginning history students. A bibliography for students who desire further study would be a nice addition to consider.
Alhamdulillah,
What a truly breathtaking site. It will surely rank as the best Muslim site on the internet by a huge margin. All muslims should take great pride in your considerable efforts.

Nicely done and very interesting. I sort of think it is a stretch however to attribute the Prophet's ahadith concerning the people of najd, following the antichrist, etc. to the group known as the salafis or wahhabis. Groups with different opinions in Islam have always existed and the best way to deal with them is by following the Truth, inviting others to It, and leaving those who disagree with you to do as they wish. Allah (swt) will make the Truth victorious. And Allah (swt) knows best.
What an amazing site ... I studied the Ottomans in college as a part of my research. Your site is especially impoertant because it is so complete and yet one of the few available ... I am completing a book on an event in Palestinian history, the 1948 massacre of the Arab village of Deir Yassin ... in researching the book, I am looking for background or history on monasteries (Deir or Dir means Monastery) that existed during the Ottoamn Empire ... If you have any information on the Monasteries and their relationship to the Ottomans, it would be apprecited. Thanks Ray Hanania rayhanania@aol.com www.hanania.org
your site is very great. It's the best way to show the world our nice and tolerant culture
very nice and great site.thank you for this

Assalaam al aykum,...Once again, another "traditional Islamic" website...the majesty of this page is only fitting the last Islamic dynasty...if only Muslims of modern world can realize that while not all the Ottoman rulers were not perfect, they are far superior than the modern Muslim rulers of "democratic" nations and "Oil Kingdoms" for one simple reason...they feared Allah and truly loved Sayyadina Muhammad(saws)...wa Allah hu wallam.
wa'salaam, tarik ahmed
Assalamu alaikum What an impressive site i have ever read, I would like to thank you for preparing this site and making clear the truth
Masha Allah! Brilliant. Please make it perfect by adding a bibliography of the books where the information has been taken from. May Allah reward you for such a great job!
The site is great and very informative. It brings back our identity. Even if it was on cyber space; atleast something. I was wondering if it is possible to add information about the living Ottomans of today i.e. children and grand children of Sultan A/Hamid. Keeping track of that chain would help us look and inspire for Sayedna AlMahdi peace be upon him.
Thank you for preparing such a great work... I appreciate all of you who had contributed this site...
AWESOME!!!

The Republic did more for the people of Turkiye in 20 years than the Ottomans did in 600 years: Just compare the number of factories, schools, universities, hospitals, dams, etc. built during 1923-1950 with the number left by the Ottomans. Keep in mind that the Republic had to pay off the Ottomans' debts to Western powers AND rebuild a country destroyed by four years of war at the same time. It's fun to show pictures of Yeniceris and talk of glory and conquest but when everything is said and done the fact remains that during the reign of the Ottomans Turkiye missed out on the scientific and industrial revolutions that took place in Europe.
Webmaster: If you really read this site without using your pre-programmed history, you will know that the YOUNG TURKS are the one that got the Ottomans into the war, massacered the Arminiens, and put the debt on the Empire.
As Salamu `alaykum muhtaram brothers, Yazakummu'llahu khayran, I have really enjoyed reading your Ottomans web side. I hope you don't mind that I have copied it on my computer. I am a manager at an Islamic grammar school, As-Siddieq, in Amsterdam The Netherlands. And I want to use it as lesson material in the history lessons. It doesn't mean that I will publish it or use it for commercial purposes. I hope Allahu Ta`ala will reward you with khayr in this life and hereafter. Insha Allah. And I am also happy to see a wibe side about my salaf. As salamu `alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatahu Dr.Ibrahim Bayrak Turki E-Mail ibrahim.bayrak@wxs.nl
This was a good review for me. I've enjoyed reading and studying about the Ottoman Empire for several years. I've always appreciated getting a balancing view to the mostly Euro-centric standard history presented in U.S. schools. Metta, J Johnson Norfolk, Nebraska USA
excellent! fabulous! magnificent! allahu akbar!!! trace should be made to tract down the khilafah generation up to present time. i`m sure somebody is still survive.
tik.
Allahu akbar!
It is very important that we ackowledge the greatness of Sultan Abdalhamid II, the defender of the Muslims and of the Dar al-Islam. He more than anyone worked selflessly against the Tanzimat. He more than anyone attempted to prevent the bankers from enslaving the Muslims. And he more than anyone tried to hold off the insiduous philosophy of the Brotherhood of Mankind as spread by the Masons and their Muslim reformer colleagues, with its abolition of Jizya and the dhimma, allowance of de-facto kafir rule, and constitutionalisation of riba. He more than anyone fought the doctrine of the unity of belief in God of all religions and spiritual paths, the democratically acceptable emasculation of Muslim power, preached today by the United Nations and legislated in their Declaration of Human Rights.
Islam is the only deen acceptable to Allah. May Allah assist us in reestablishing the Dar al-Islam in all its mercy and glory. Amin. Assalaamu alaykum Abdassabur
Dear beloved's,
Assalamu alaikum, this is the most blessed page on site, oh beloved's please put a lot of effort in educating yourselves and your families the right knowledge of Ahle sun'nah wal jamaa, memorise excessive Quraan and hadith.
Get knowledge from the pious Awliya Allah, protect yourselves by destroying the evil wahabi's, who are suffering from the bulldog virus that trigger's them to attack Ahlul kheir, start to unsheath your Sword's and gain victory.
May Allah (s.w) protect you all by the blessing of our beloved Seyyidina Muham'mad (s.a.w)

jasper says:the interpretation of terms in islam are not given any atention like the word angel for instance.it is given so much atention through history that it is not interpretable any more, to much of the lies have spread ,it is maby even impossible to reach people in holland or elsewhere this way .they can't give good meaning to it,as for me it is worth the study.
Thank you for making this available. I'm curious about Sultan Selim IV. Is there any place I can get more information about his lineage, whereabouts and so on? If you can reply directly, I would appreciate it. Wasalaam, Zayn Al-Abideen zain@umich.edu
For a great part of the 20th century, Muslims in particular and the world in general have been told how negative the Ottomans were. Alhamdulillah, the true facts are slowly surfacing. The world will also realized that the man whom many Muslims considered "great" in their history books, is finally exposed. Unfortunately, it will take a sort of miracle to undo the damage Atarturk has done to the psyche of the Turkish Muslims.
You stinking sufies have to put your anti-tawheed crap into anything you do, silly idiots.
Assalaam al aykum, May Allah Guide or Punish the shaythan whose two previous posts is a sign of his/her ignorance and stupidity. Only Allah knows what will happen to this brainwashed incompetent deviant...and by the way learn how to spell "Sufis", you shameless excuse of a "muslim". Selamun Aleykum, Thanks for a great site. Keep up the good work! a Muslim brother from sweden. I would like to share a beautiful saying with U.To all the Muslims: "We have no business with money, posts, positions, politics, fighting and commotion. We will teach every child of every Muslim without any exception. Let them tell us if any one persom has been turned away." His Eminence Suleyman Hilmi Tunahan
For over 405 years, from July 25th, 1518 until March 3rd, 1924, the Holy Qur'an was perpetually recited, day and night, in the Department of Mohammed's Cloak in the Topkapi Palace. No wonder this Empire lasted 641 years. Allah U Akbar ! Thank you very much for opening my American Indian eyes and ears. Inshallah this will become an established fact on this great Continent soon !!!!

ASSALAMU ALAIKUM
I HAVE READ MOST OF THE ARTICLES ON THIS PAGE.IT WAS EXCELLENT TO READ ABOUT THE RISE AND DECLINE OF THE OTTAMON EMPIRE FROM A VIEW OF A MUSLIM, PARTICULARLY FROM A SUNNI MUSLIM.
I WOULD LIKE TO CONGRATULATE YOUR TEAM FOR PRODUCING SUCH AN EXCELLENT ISLAMIC REFERENCE SOURCES. THOUGHT THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ISLAMIC EMPIRE(S) HAS BEEN MARKED WITH GREAT MILITARY STRUGGLE, NONETHELESS, THE HISTORY OF THE ISLAMIC GOOD MANAGEMENT AND SOCIO-ECONOMIC WELL-BEING OF SUCH ERA SHOULD ALSO BE HIGHLIGTH. THUS, THIS WILL ELIMINATE THE ROOTED THOUGHT THAT ISLAM WAS SPREAD THROUGH `SWORD'.
Alhamdulillah i find it intresting and knowledgeable.keep up the goood work.may Almighty Allah be with u all always.bless u.
The wahabi's/salafi's should be ashamed of themselves! Thanks for opening my eyes! This is a great site!
As-Salaamu 'Alaykum,
This page is excellent!!! The Kharijites (Wahhabis/Salafis) should be ashamed of themselves for such a filthy, shaitanic act!
I long for the day when Turkiyye returns to the Islamic station it once possessed, and rid its self of the western filth brought about by that devil "attaturk."
Please continue to bring Haqq to the surface, so that all may be educated of Allah's Deen.
Wassalaam

Assalamualaikum.. islamic history from beginning must become a part of any Muslim country's education curriculum. No muslim should overlook his or her history. Ours are not of 'westernized history'. Ours is far more superior than the so-called 'modern history'. So why search for anything of a lesser degree when we have such an incredible history such as depicted by this wonderful, highly informative site. May Allah bless you on all your effort to have this site possible.

Every effort of informing people about whatsoever is a good deed. Cautiousness is expected only when accepting or dismissing statements or facts as the truth.I wish the Muslim readers of this site be a bit more carefull before praising someone to heaven. Most of them react like children being presented a nice big shining toy or a lollypop, while France or Holland has more on Islam than whole of the Muslim world!!The road is long, keep up.

Subahan Allah, Thank you for having such a wonderful site. Insha Allah, more people will see the only way Islam can be strong again is having the Ottoman Khalifa and not the petty kingship of dunyah people such as Hussein of Jordan or the Saudi Wahhabis...May Allah bless those who revive the traditions of Ahl as Sunnah wa Jammah....
Assalamaleykum. I'm very interesting by your site. However I'm surprised by the last Sultan you introduce us, His Highness Sultan Selim IV. Who is he exactly? Is it possible to get some more information about him? Thank you. Please answer to : eem@sasi.fr
By chance I surfed into this area and to my pleasant surprise found it to be very interesting and informative, particularly the Islamic history (during the Ottoman era) The site is very attractively decorated with beautiful pictures and caligraphic displays. Being a muslim from Pakistan, with strong belief in spiritualism (I come from Chishtia Order), the piece on spirituality was very refreshing and uplifting. Keep up the good work.

no information about Selim II when clicked on his photograph. is it because not only did he, also known as Selim the Sot, contribute to the Empire but as a matter of fact was a cause of serious setbacks? (he was the first sultan not to lead the Army into the battle.) my email account is <seyitguly98@yahoo.com>. thank u.

I wonder Why you did not mention the Treaty of Serves? Are you hiding something? The Ataturk picture you are using to link "Turkey became a purely secular republic" has never seen before. Where did you get that picture? It is not Mustafa Kemal at all...

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Assalam Alaykum,
With no doubts, this page represents a sincere attempt to show a glorious era of our Islmic history (Ottoman Khilafah) may Allah give mercy to all Ottoman Khalifahs (AAMEEN). It also exposes the ugly face of nationalism and secularism. IT IS OUR DUTY TO FIGHT THESE KIND OF CANCERS IN OUR MUSLIM UMMAH. I advise all my brothers and sisters to read a beautiful work done by other muslim brothers about Sultan AbdulHameed II (May Allah give him mercy) at: <http://www.ummah.net/sultan>
May Allah give the right guidance and blessings (AAMEEN).
Your brother in Islam,
Hany Mohammed Idreis
Excellent and very fine work!
After looking at this site ones faith is made stronger. Looking at what the status of Islam was and is today is a matter of sadness.
Long may you continue to support the Ottoman cause, and God Almighty give you the strength and power to put the wahhabi's and any opposer to the Truth under the feet of the Truthfull.Ameen.
If this page was made to display islam then that was a blessed work, but if it was made to display Nationalism then its a cursed work of art! Specially when you make your site so ugly by adding a photo of a GAY Male like the cursed Mustafa Kemal with Nobel Ottomans, Today's Turkey is nothing but shame on itself.
Thank you very much...
dear sir, I am interesred to buy a book which has complete history about the OTTOMAN empire and history of each individual responsible during that time. please sent me information if you have any . Thank you. faiz fadhil E-105 cornell court . ypsilanti. MI:48197 ASSALAMUALAIKUM W.B.T.
i was delighted to come across your site and its contents especially the relics of the prophet. infact it is a great and invaluable treasure to have such relics in your possesion . however i would have liked that there should have been pics of the shrines of great sufis also who are in buried in turkey like ibn arabi, fakhrudin iraqi etc.this would have completely brought to the fore the greatness that lies in the land of the ottomans. also this would have been in tune with the secular image of turkey for which these sufis are known and renowned world over.
i am sending these comments from india and my e-mail address is kamili_zubair@hotmail.com
This is the most wonderful and the richest ottomans homepage I've ever seen, below I've read a couple of comments, some of them where telling that The new republic of Turkey has done more than Ottomans did (thus they deserve more place in your homepaga etc.), My answer to all of them is; take a good look at the maps of the ottoman empire and turkey...By the way I loved the expression "pre-programmed history"
Selam to the moslim world from Holland

very interesting and astounding.... selams to Abdul Kerim, the typical turk.
its a nice web page, with very good information on wahabi fitna.
i would like to point out a clerical mistake in the "relics" in the fourth paragraph and second line prophet's companion hazrat usman is written as prophet usman. please correct that clerical mistake.

A great site that reminds all of us the glory of the Ottomans; who captured the city of Constantinople ( New Rome ), just like it was mentioned by Mohammed ( S.A.V. ) A site that reminds every Muslim ( not only the Turks ) of our glorious past; which will be the light to our promising future...Let Allah bless you all...

This site was incredible! I have tirelessly sought to find credible history regarding Islamic civilizations; this page provided it all!! The Ottoman Empire was a perfect example of hardworking Muslims who put their faith in Allah and rose to high and mighty ranks. If the Ottomans saw us Muslims today, they would be ashamed of our weak and pathetic state. May Allah give us the strength to once again become true Muslims and rise to the pious level of the Ottomans. Ameen!
thank you for the great pages that gave me some insight to the ottomans.your pages fall short of my search for the ERA of SLEYMAN THE MAGNIFICENT. If anyone knows of a web site that would give me more information of this ERA please E-MAIL me at:stoth@emcoltd.com.

Assalam alaikum ,
I am visiting this web site for the first time . I am highly glad to find some of facts about Islam presented here in its pure form .I sincerely thank the God for your kind afford .
As you know now a days lot of Modern Muslim Educated Peple are following the doctrine of Wahabis .People like me who knew very little about Hadith may be easily inculcated by adulteraed & twisted teachings of Islam by other sects , especially Tabliq jamaat .
I found the facts about the Wahhabis very much informative . Since i am novice to urdu \arabic , i find difficulty in getting appropiate book in hadith . But your web site filled that gap .
May god peace upon those who were involved in creating this web site .
Mohammed Imtiazuddin Software Engineer Hyderabad, e-mail : imtiaz_786@hotmail.com
I will be glad if you can tell any Subcription on internet about islam and its teaching .
Assalamualikum brother,

To Everyone involved:
Excellent site. It should help to dispel some of the ridiculous sterotypes that Westerners have. People need to know more about the greatness of the Ottomans.
Assalamu Alaikkum (varah..)
I am very delighted to visit this site. I am really very very happy to learn more and more from this site. Since this is my very first visit to this site, I could not visit all the pages. Hiowever, I have copies some pages about Wahabbis, to enable me to pass this among our fellow muslims, misleading with Wahabbis thought.
Further, I am very delighted to inform your goodselves that I am following Soharwardi tareeq. I have received the photographs and the audio catssetes of the lectures given by His Holiness sheikh Mohamed Hisham Kabbani from my younger brother Mr. K.A. Haja Maideen in singapore, who is very fortunate to meet His Holiness Sheikh Hisham Kabbani and got personal acquaintances with Him. Though I have not see personally, His Holiness Sheikh Mohamed Hisham Kabbani, I am confident that I will get his blessings and prayer for me. I am sending my deepest respects and Salams to His Holiness Sheikh Mohamed Hisham Kabbani through this guest book.

The web page is excellent. The map of the Ottoman empire really reminds of the power of the Muslims, which is totally contrary to their condition in the world today.May Allah bestow his blessings to those who worked hard to make this site a reality. Addition of Turkish Sufism and their contribution will be highly appreciated.
its very good. i've visited your pages concernly and happiness

In stark contrast to the worldwide trend toward abolition of the death penalty, in Saudi Arabia its use has become increasingly frequent.(1) Since 1990 at least 540 people have been executed in Saudi Arabia, usually by public beheading; at least one hundred people were reported executed in the first nine months of 1997 alone. Most of these were foreigners accused of any of a variety of offenses, including drug-trafficking, murder, armed robbery, and sexual offenses. In at least some cases there was ample evidence to support victims' claims of innocence.(2)
On Friday December 13, 1996 (3 Sha`ban 1417), `Abd al-Karim Mara`i al-Naqshabandi, age forty, was executed in Riyadh. A Syrian national who had worked for Saudi Prince Salman bin Sa`ud bin `Abd al-`Aziz for over fourteen years, al-Naqshabandi was convicted of practicing witchcraft (sihr) against his employer, who is the son of the former king of Saudi Arabia and the nephew of the current king. The information Human Rights Watch has been able to collect about the al-Naqshabandi case indicates that gross violations of human rights took place, and that al-Naqshabandi may have been prosecuted and then executed to satisfy the wishes of his wealthy, well-connected employer.
In April 1997 Human Rights Watch obtained copies of some of the documents al-Naqshabandi submitted to the court during his trial. Our subsequent investigation included interviews with members of al-Naqshabandi's family, as well as efforts to contact the Saudi ministers of justice and interior and the Syrian ministers of foreign affairs and interior (see appendices). In all cases the ministries involved failed to respond to our repeated requests that they clarify key issues in the case.
Among the documents submitted to the court were three long handwritten letters addressed to Judge Sulayman al-Samhan of the Greater Court of Riyadh and signed by al-Naqshabandi. Written in simple, sometimes awkward Arabic, they are the letters of a man trying to construct a legal defense without access to a lawyer or to legal books, and with only the most rudimentary idea of how a legal argument is made. The cover letter implores the judge to read what follows, saying that
I can't make myself heard except through these papers. My fate lies in them, and the fate of my family which is threatened with destitution and expulsion and losing everything if you don't read these papers that clarify my case. Your Excellency, I was not able to clarify to you during the [court] sessions all that I have to say, because of the position that I am in when I attend [the session], with its terror, and the guards, and the insults in people's eyes. And also because the [length of the] time of the sessions is not sufficient.(3)
The letters themselves describe the events leading up to al-Naqshabandi's arrest, and contain detailed allegations concerning his abuse by the Prince Salman and by officers from the police and the Committee for the Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice (hay'at al-amr bilma`ruf wa al-nahi `an al-munkar, CPVPV). He also provides the names of twenty-three individuals whom he says could verify his account if only the judge would call them to testify. According to al-Naqshabandi's family, the judge did not call a single defense witness, nor apparently did al-Naqshabandi know that he had to follow specific procedures to request formally that witnesses be called. This deadly lack of knowledge -- knowledge that any lawyer or the judge himself could have provided -- is apparent throughout al-Naqshabandi's written testimony, as he misses opportunities to argue against the legality of the charges against him, enter evidence to support his claims, challenge the jurisdiction of the arresting agency, or even bring a complaint against the officers who abused him and threatened him with torture to obtain a confession. It also appears that al-Naqshabandi may never have been formally convicted or sentenced. Family members who saw al-Naqshabandi only three days before his execution say he was in good spirits and had no knowledge of his conviction, nor of the death sentence that the Ministry of the Interior claims was ratified more than a week earlier. Al-Naqshabandi's wife only learned of her husband's execution when she received a telephone call from his brother, who had read about it in the newspaper.
While there are many other cases of individuals executed in Saudi Arabia after trials that failed to meet minimum standards of fairness, Human Rights Watch finds that this case deserves special attention. To begin with, the charges themselves are extremely vague, and suggest a dangerous expansion in the powers given to judges to define criminal activity and determine punishments. It is precisely this type of case that reveals the inherently cruel and irreversible nature of the death penalty, and the reason for Human Rights Watch's categorical opposition to its use.
Secondly, the case highlights the many serious shortcomings of a legal system that fails to provide minimum due process guarantees and offers myriad opportunities for well-connected individuals to manipulate the system to their advantage. At every step from his arrest to his execution, al-Naqshabandi's basic rights were violated in some way, and at no stage does it appear that any state agency intervened to protect his rights. Indeed, his arrest, detention and execution may have been part of an effort by the prince and individuals in authority to silence someone who simply knew too much about his employer's private life and business dealings, as al-Naqshabandi's family alleges.
Finally, this case reveals the special vulnerability of foreign workers in Saudi Arabia. Saudi labor laws give employers tremendous control over their employees' movements, including the power to prevent them from leaving the country. Often this control becomes a source of leverage for extracting concessions from employees, who have few opportunities for recourse. This vulnerability, coupled with a judicial system that fails to meet basic standards of independence and impartiality and that allows indefinite pretrial detention and convictions based on forced confessions, not only allows but encourages human rights abuses.
THE SPECIAL VULNERABILITY OF FOREIGN WORKERS
Foreign workers typically enter Saudi Arabia under the sponsorship (kafala) of a Saudi employer and are thus subject to significant restrictions on their freedom of movement, "giving rise to conditions that might involve forced labor," according to the U.S. Department of State.(4) Sponsored employees cannot legally leave the country, travel outside the city of their employment, or change jobs without obtaining the written permission of their sponsors.(5) Employers often confiscate workers' passports as well, leaving them subject to arrest as undocumented aliens.
Taken together, these practices make it easy for unscrupulous employers to pressure their employees to relinquish their legitimate claims for compensation or to submit to labor conditions other than those specified in their contracts.(6) The 1996 U.S. Department of State report on Saudi Arabia states that
[t]here have been many reports of workers whose employers have refused to pay several months, or even years, of accumulated salary or other promised benefits . . . . The labor system abets the exploitation of foreign workers because enforcement of work contracts is difficult and generally favors Saudi employers. Labor cases can take many months to reach a final appellate ruling, during which time the employer can prevent the foreign laborer from leaving the country; alternatively, an employer can delay a case until a worker's funds are exhausted and the worker is forced to return to his home country.(7)
The Asia-Pacific Mission for Migrant Filipinos (APMMF) reported in August 1997 that more than one hundred Filipino citizens stranded in Riyadh without exit visas had staged a sit-in at the Philippine Labor Compound in Riyadh to protest the Philippine government's failure to aid in their repatriation. According to APMMF, there are approximately 500 stranded workers in Riyadh alone. "Most of them have grievances lodged at the Saudi Court against their employers or sponsors for contract violations such as non-payment of wages, long hours of work, poor working and living conditions, sexual and physical abuses. Others become stranded after they were forsaken by their sponsors and 'run away' (sic) from their employers."(8)
Workers who resist such abuses can be subject to deportation or trial on unrelated spurious charges;(9) individuals awaiting deportation often spend long periods of time in substandard deportation facilities awaiting processing of the required paperwork. While in custody these individuals may be subject to ill-treatment, including face slapping and beatings on the soles of the feet (falaqa), at the behest of the employer.(10) In some cases torture or the threat of torture has been used to extract confessions. Foreigners who have been arrested will often be deported, regardless of the outcome of their trial, and thus be unable to claim any back pay or other benefits stipulated in their contracts. Foreigners found guilty of crimes often receive harsher sentences than do citizens, both because of de facto discrimination against foreigners and because Saudi law favors Muslims over non-Muslims in many kinds of legal disputes, and only Muslims are allowed to become citizens.(11)
RECOMMENDATIONS
To the Government of Saudi Arabia
1. Conduct an independent investigation into the arrest, detention, trial and execution of al-Naqshabandi, and make the investigation's findings public. The investigation should determine whether any of the due process rights listed above were not respected, and whether al-Naqshabandi was subjected to physical abuse while under interrogation. If it is found that al-Naqshabandi's rights were violated those responsible should be prosecuted and compensation should be granted to his survivors.
2. Return al-Naqshabandi's body to his family for burial in Syria, as the family has requested.
3. Make public the law under which al-Naqshabandi was arrested and convicted, including the precise definition of terms such as "witchcraft" and "polytheistic and superstitious books," and the nature of any legally specified punishments.
4. End the criminalization of "witchcraft," and other such vaguely worded charges. No one should be prosecuted for the exercise of the freedom of expression or belief.
5. Take immediate steps toward the elimination of the death penalty from Saudi law, including immediately halting all executions, and undertaking a full review of the use of the death penalty with a view to its total abolition. Until full abolition is effected, take particular care to scrupulously observe all fair trial standards.
6. Ensure that all laws exist in clear written form, and are freely available to the public and to all parties engaged in legal actions. At a minimum, all crimes punishable by imprisonment, corporal or capital punishment should be codified in written form, in such a way as to make clear each element of the crime that must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
To the Government of Syria
In light of the grave abuses suffered by Syrian national al-Naqshabandi in Saudi Arabia, and in light of the pattern of abuse of foreign nationals that has been documented, we urge the Syrian authorities to work to defend the internationally recognized rights of its nationals in Saudi Arabia. In particular, we call upon the Syrian Government to:
1. Request an independent investigation by Saudi authorities of the arrest, detention, trial and execution of `Abd al-Karim al-Naqshabandi, with the findings to be made public. If it is found that al-Naqshabandi's rights were violated, ask that those responsible be prosecuted and compensation granted to al-Naqshabandi's survivors.
2. Continue to press for the return of al-Naqshabandi's body to his family in Syria.
3. Monitor closely the treatment of Syrian nationals in Saudi Arabia, and undertake vigorous efforts to protect them from human rights abuse by Saudi authorities.
4. Ensure that Syrian diplomatic staff in Saudi Arabia visit regularly all Syrian detainees and prisoners in Saudi Arabia, and further ensure that these individuals have access to legal counsel of their choice, as required under international law.
1. By 1996 the number of countries that have abolished the death penalty for all crimes (fifty-eight) was more than twice what it had been in 1981 (twenty-seven). The figure reaches one hundred if countries that are abolitionist in practice are included. 5. See for example Council of Ministers Resolution No. 826 of 1975, Rules for the Regulation of the Labor Force Movement, which prohibits workers from changing sponsors unless the original sponsor agrees to the transfer. In cases where a worker's contract with one sponsor has terminated and the worker does not agree to its renewal, that sponsor can still prohibit the worker from obtaining work with another sponsor; in such instances the worker is repatriated for at least one year (at least three years if "trade secrets" are involved). A worker who violates these rules is automatically deported. An English translation of Resolution No. 826 appears in Alison Lerrick and Q. Javed Mian, Saudi Business and Labor Law: Its Interpretation and Application 2nd Ed. (London: Graham & Trotman, 1987), Appendix 46, pp. 546-47.
6. In theory Saudi Arabia's Labor Commission provides foreign and local workers with a neutral agency to adjudicate and arbitrate labor disputes. In reality a large segment of the working population -- domestic or household workers -- is excluded from the Commission's jurisdiction. Commission offices are often difficult to reach and successfully pursuing a complaint may require several visits, a costly and dangerous proposition for workers not in possession of a passport who must travel to an office in another city. As-Salaamu alaykum,
This is a nice site. There is one correction to be made. Karbala is NOT just a Shi'ite holy city! It is a holy city to Ahl as-Sunna as well. Please make note of this ASAP!
I'm finding this account of the rise and fall of the Ottoman Empire very interesting, and I think it has been arranged very well. Thank you very much for this contribution to Middle Eastern history.
I am happy to have come across your homepage! As Armenian Christian I was amazed to read about the Armenian Genocide 80 years ago on and your page hope that your courage for honesty in a time when genocide denial still is seeding hatred is a step towards reconciliation.
Your openness shows the events between 1915 and 1923 were not really a Christian-Muslim conflict but one of racist nationalism.
I wish wounds may be healing and there will be again a fruitful symbiosis of Turkish and Armenian peoples.

I wish wounds may be healing and there will be again a fruitful symbiosis of Turkish and Armenian peoples.

This webpage is nicely designed but severely bias. It considers all previous non-European invaders of Ottoman Turkey in a bad and inferior light (i.e. Safavid Persia, and the Wahhabis). This site also gives praise to the secularism of Turkey by Ataturk which is as fanatic as any fundamentalist movement of the 20th Century.
This site has insulted Shias around the world. It refers to such events as the events leading up to the Battle of Chaldiran as extermination of rebellious Shias when all the Shias were looking for was to worship their faith freely. Bias against Shias is a misfortune found in almost every Islamic website to this date. I now refer to the famous quote "Every day is Ashura, and every land is Karbala."
It was a great pleasure too see these excellent sites!

i appreciate the pictures as a history teacher this is a site i would recommend to my students. can u kindly add a bibliography to the site, for further study or links to other sites?
We must understand people, that Turkey is not Arabs. Turks and Arabs are 2 totally different people. 2nd, Der Yassin is a lie I have researched Deir Yassin myself, so I know that this happens to be a flagrant lie; Deir Yassin was in fact an Arab military installation, from which assaults were launched. Deir Yassin was the site of a miltary battle, that the Israelis won; the Arab military had dressed up as women, in an attempt to launch a surprise, but were quickly discovered.
Before the battle began, Israelis asked the citizens of Deir Yassin to surrender their weapons, to avoid a battle. They refused and the rest is history, except for the myth created by Arab propaganda.
It was a military victory by Israel, not a massacre. And finally, note that Israelis broadcast a plea for non-combatants to leave the area for their safety.
None of this hardly makes for a "massacre", but unfortunately, the West is all to ready to believe the worst about Israel.
And what exacerbates this are all the (supposedly) Jewish and Israeli apologists for Arab terrorism. Heres some more history There was never in history a state called Palestine. The Palestinians are not a biblical people. They came from the surrounding Arab countries in the late 1800s. Only Israel has had a State where Israel is located today. No other Nation ESTABLISHED A STATE THERE, from the time the Jews lost Israel to the Romans in 70Ad, to when Israel re established inself 1948. From 70AD to 1948, Empires controlled the land. Until the 1960's, ALL ARABS refered to this area, as a province of Greater Syria. If you claim that the "Palestinians" are a "People" and Israel is their land, then tell me this: who was the first "king" or "president" or "dictator" of Arab Palestine?? (If you say Arafat, then you admit that their history is very short). What was their national anthem? What was their national flower? You cannot answer these, because THERE NEVER WAS SUCH A THING AS A PALESTINIAN ARAB NATION. It is a hoax that has been promulgated since 1964 as a propaganda device.

Just before dawn on Tuesday Jumada I (17/8/99), a violent earthquake struck in north west Turkey. Its epicentre was Izmit, and it measured 7.4 on the Richter scale. According to UN reports more than 40,000 have died, 33,000 injured and 200,000 made homeless.
We pray to Allah (swt) that He shelters the dead with His Mercy and Forgiveness and that He confers on the injured the prospect of good health and well-being. And also that He facilitates help and shelter for the displaced and inspires them with patience over this calamity.
Indeed, this earthquake was one of the signs of Allah (swt) which He sent to the people of Turkey and others to bring fear and to warn. So who is there that will take admonition?
There is a huge responsibility which, Firstly, falls on the shoulders of the ruling secular regime in Turkey, a responsibility the adherents of this regime cannot shirk. Secondly, the responsibility lies on the shoulders of the people in Turkey, a responsibility they cannot evade. And Thirdly it falls on the shoulders of Muslims everywhere.
As for the responsibility of the regime, this regime knows that these areas are situated on an earthquake fault line. An earthquake occurred along this line measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale in 1912. Thereafter earthquakes occurred on this line in the years 1939, 1942, 1943, 1944, 1957, 1967 and 1992. So why was the regime unconcerned and didnt prepare to face these expected disasters?
Officials of the secular regime said: the earthquake was so big that the state was not able to eliminate its dangers. This justification is of no value since weve observed that the state did not prepare for any earthquake, however great or small. Was it not within the capabilities of the regime to set down specifications and conditions for construction in these areas? And was it not possible to inspect buildings so as to be sure that building contractors were meeting building specifications and conditions? We have noticed that some old buildings (from the days of the 'Uthmani state) remained firm, while many modern buildings crumbled easily even though the technology since then has progressed greatly.
Were not the officials of the secular regime able to move immediately when the earthquake happened in order to provide help and first aid to the victims? Instead they continued to listen to the reports as if the disaster had occurred in another country! It was only after 17 hours that some of them met to see what they could do, leaving individuals to dig the debris and rubble with their bare hands. Eventually after two days they moved, but in an astonishingly chaotic manner. Army officials moved after four days, as if the problem had nothing to do with them, and were only concerned with their naval base that had been hit by the quake.
After five days had elapsed, some of the villages in Izmit which had been severely devastated by the earthquake, had still to receive any first aid or assistance. All as a result of the failure to have someone in charge who could organise and see which areas had been checked and which areas remained forgotten and neglected.
This is the Turkish regime and this is Turkish rule which boasts that it has made Turkey the most powerful nation in the Middle East. Yet, this earthquake has exposed the defects, emaciation and weakness of the regime. And also to expose that the regime is completely non-existent when the issue relates to looking after the affairs of people and coming to their aid. This secular regime prepares in force when it comes to suppressing the people, silencing them and imposing taxes. This secular regime flexes its muscles as a tool in the hands of the Jews: sometimes by threatening Syria and other times by striking the Kurds, entering Iraq, or threatening Iran.
The adherents of this secular regime are unable to help the people in their moment of hardship, yet they have the ability to ban the lawful Hijab of women that Allah has made obligatory. And they have the ability to expel a soldier from the army if he prays, disband parties which call for Islam and imprison those who speak about Islam.
As for the responsibility of the people in Turkey, it is incumbent on them to account the rulers and account the contractors, and take heed themselves that when a disaster does occur, it doesnt only afflict the rulers, contractors, and oppressors. Rather it afflicts everyone. He (swt) said:
"And fear the trial which affects not in particular (only) those of you who do wrong" [TMQ 8:25]
The Messenger of Allah (saw) was asked: "will we be destroyed while there are righteous people amongst us?" He replied: "Yes, when the evil becomes great".
The evil is not confined to the rulers colluding with the contractors in construction fraud, and nor is it confined to the rulers negligence of the interests and security of the people and failing to make the necessary preparations to rescue the people, or to provide them with first aid and shelter. Rather, it has gone beyond that, to the extent of fighting the people in their deen, with the states deen becoming secularism and not Islam. The ruling regime considers Turkey to be a part of secular Europe and not a part of the Islamic countries. Utmost respect has come to be for secularism, separation of religion from life, and Mustafa Kamal, and not for the Quran, Sunnah and Muhammad (saw). And friendship and dependency has come to be for the Jews of Israel, the enemy who fights the Muslims
All of this is taking place while the Muslim people of Turkey are silent about those disbelieving rulers who destroyed the Khilafah and betrayed Allah, His Messenger, His deen and all Muslims. And even though Allah (swt) has obliged them to discard these secular Kafir rulers. So will these people not bear the responsibility of what afflicts them in this world due to the policy of those rulers, over whom they are silent? Yes indeed, for they shall bear a greater responsibility before Allah (swt) in the Hereafter as well.
As for the responsibility of Muslims everywhere, the Muslims are one Ummah. They are like one body which when one of its limbs hurts, the entire body responds to that part with sleeplessness and fever.
It is incumbent on the Muslims to help each other, not least when disasters occur, regardless of their lineage, language, colour or home. It is also incumbent on them to embark on assisting each other with money, food, housing, medicines, and all types of assistance.
Just as it is incumbent on all of them to work to destroy the systems of kufr which are implemented on them. And work to establish the Islamic state, the righteous Khilafah state which will apply the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger over them. And work to eliminate these emaciated entities by overthrowing their rulers and agents and bringing the people together under the entity of the Khilafah, and carry the Message of Islam to the rest of the world.
As for you - the secular rulers of Turkey - to whom we direct this open letter. We do not think that you deserve anything other then the warning directed to the likes of you by Allah (swt): "And soon will the unjust know what change in circumstance their affairs will take" [TMQ 26:227]

Byzantine a & n (Inhabitant) of Byzantium or the E. Roman Empire; (Archit. etc.) of style developed in the Eastern Empire; complicated; inflexible; underhand. [f. F byzantin or f. L Byzantius (Byzantium, later Constantinople and now Istanbul; see INE)]. Complicated, inflexible the East Roman Empire or Byzantine Empire outlived the West Roman Empire by a thousand years. There was plenty of time for the organisational structures to degenerate. I wonder if there is any value in a comparative historical study of the Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire? I understand that the Western States were always ambivalent about their relationship with Byzantium. The Crusades were about the conquest and glory of the West, which explains to me why some of the Crusades were deliberately aimed at the Byzantine Empire.

I would just like to say that the Ottomon empire was TURKISH, not anything else it might have ruled other countries but that doesn't mean they are a part of it now, it may have been an Islamic empire but that doesn't give all muslims in the world to say that it was there empire, as though it was there ancestors who died for us.
It is very annoying to see all the accomplishments the Ottomon empire has made and then watch other people who had nothing to do with it, try and take credit. I am Turkish and it was my great great great great grandfather who was part of that empire and no one else can take that away, no matter what they say or do.
TURKISH!!!! understand.
I like your page very much, but one thing has upset me that is that picture of ataturk, ben turkum ve o adami gormek migdemi bulandiyor, I don't think that he represents Turkey no more than a coleslaw sandwich would, maybe even less actually, at least the sandwich is better looking.
This guy was the downfall of Ottomon Empire now known as Turkey and yet they have statues everywhere of him (very clever don't you think), but to be fair I think deserves an award....an award for the quickest time that any person has brought down a whole country. This guy is ^%$%^&%$£%^% %^&%^^$$&^^^^*****, sorry but I had to say that, but I think this site might censor what I've just said which is good, cause I dont want anyone to hear it.

very informative, thank you
A very well documented site providing an insight into some of the rich islamic history of the Ottaman dynasty. Simply beutiful. Please note that the pictures take a little too long to load up but they are a pleasure to view. Thank you for your efforts they are greatly appreciated. Look forward to any new additions in the future.

Hello, I am a Pakistani doing some research on Wahabism This is a great and would like to congratulate our Turkish Brothers for a job well done on this site. I would also like to thank you for putting the truth about the evil wahabbis and may Allah Almighty show them the right path.

Is there information available about the current members of the Ottoman family and their aspirations? If so, where can this be found?
alhamdulillah
First, Syabas on a technically sound site. No doubt it required much painstaking effort. Secondly, Syabas for your efforts in propagating Islam in all its wonderous beauty(on the Net and elsewhere). Thirdly, you speak with conviction. I fear no similar river floods my being. Ah, faith, how easily it is lost. Will you not pray for this anonymous soul and many others like him. Maybe we shall meet one day, and I shall say to you, "remember the anguish I once communciated to thee?!Well, it is there no more." But to die before death, is a road scorned by many, forgotten by others. But thank you anyway for your timely efforts, may they bear such fruits as rewarded by Allah to his obediant slaves. Salam.
Sir: I wish to congratulate you on a fine website. You are probably aware of these issues but nevertheless I would like to note just in case some missing links and incorrect text for the portion of the site which presents the litany of the Khalifaat. I will list them in order.
*The s8_detail.htm repeats information on Amurath 1 (Murad 1)rather than the expected detail of Bayezid 2
*Likewise s9_detail.htm and s11_detail.htm exhibit the same problem.
*The link and detail pages for Suleyman 2 (s20), Ahmad 3 (s23) and Mahmoud 1 (s24) are missing.
*A portrait photo is missing for Abdul Majid 1 (s31_portrait.htm)
Appreciate your efforts.

I am very thankfull to whom prepeared this site. There is lots of sites that have no use to peoples. But there is some absence about this page.Ýt can be more common.
Great and easy to work with that even a novice will find his way around.
Your Web site is superb. I went immediately to the Topkapi site because I visited the museum when I was in Istanbul a few years ago. I was hoping to see some displays. No matter.
You might do me a favor, if you would be so kind. Please convey to whomever is in charge of the guards at the Imperial Gate entrance that some of them are too harsh with visitors. The guards could use with more adab. I'm sure the actions which I observed were looked upon as uncivil by the tourists.
Please do all that is necessary to preserve Islamic Heritage.
stop stealing information give my salaams to Tahir hussain

I am naqshbandi and am very pleased with this website, but the part about Attaturk which you've copied from the encyclopedia is not worthy of this site. Have you read it? abdul hamid
This site is very informative! Thamk you! Elhamdulillah I'm muslim, and i'm also proud of being turkish! But it is not right only to see the glorious past! May Allah c.c. help us to change the situation in Turkey! It's time to begin an intelligent struggle against the pressure!
fuck all the ottaman supporters atatuk rules
ataturk was a secret jew!!! the jewish encyclopedias mention this, u stupid turks!!!!!!!!!!!! u try to westernize and europeanize turkey, and what: did the europeans allow u into their union after all u did to ur ppl?????? u r like dogs, sucking up to them!
Bismillah, wa-s salamu 'alaykum,
1. Intro and History: the history of this is tossed - there's no mention of the Qayiq Clan of the Oghuz, and the Ottoman Dynasty of the empire after Sultan Mehmed Fatih never claimed to be Turks - they were always conscious of having inherited the ulus of the Byzantines. To call an Ottoman a Turk would be like calling an East Coast 'Brahmin' a 'Gypsy'; 'Turks' arrived with the Lajnatu-l Ittihad wa-t Tarakki.
2. Khulafa. The last Caliph was Sultan Muhammad Wahidu-d Din not Sultan Abdul Hamid
3. Map. The furthest eastwards extent of the Ottoman Empire was Aceh, in North Sumatra, which acceded to the Empire in the time of Sultan Suleiman Qanuni
4. Modern Turkey. Turgut Ozal was a Naqshbandi murid of Shaykh Mehmed Efendi (qaddasa-Llahu sirrah) of Haiderpasa Camii. He was murdered the night he returned from Central Asia having tied up sources of supply for Turkey when he was about to give the EU, UN, and USA 7 Days' notice to stop the aggression in Bosnia otherwise Turkey was going to invade Serbia. Necmettin Erbakan was also a Naqshbandi murid of Shaykh Mehmed Efendi (qaddasa-Llahu sirrah).
wa-s salam,

*Ottoman Sultans, Caliphs, and History*
Actually, the brothers (and sisters) from "Friends of Shacklewell Lane Mosque" have not got it quite right.
But first, why did the author of the essay on Ottoman caliphal history insist on using irritating mediaevalisms - such as "Amurath" (for Murad), and so on? Even such poisonous orientalists as Brocklemann, Gruenebaum, and Goldziher used more correct transliterations. And Britannia Online is not a reliable source.
Officially - in that it was conferred on him by the Abbasid Caliph (whether you accept the legitimacy of the Abbasid Caliphate is neither here nor there because, by the late 14th century, they were the only ones we'd got, the Umayyads of Spain having long gone) - the first Ottoman Sultan was Abu Yazid (Bayazid) I; although both of his predecessors, Orkhan I and Murad I, used the title 'unofficially'. The last titular Sultan was Muhammad VI Wahidu-d Din - deposed in 1921 - but the last effective (or 'real') Sultan was 'Abdu-l Hamid II, jannat makan, who was deposed in 1909.
Which Ottoman Sultan became the first of the dynasty to be Caliph is conjectural. According to one version, Sultan Salim I Yavuz had the Abbasid abdicate in his favour at Istanbul in 1517. Another holds that Murad was calling himself Caliph after the Capture of Edirne. Either way, by this time the Ottomans had so intermarried with the Quraysh and the Ahlu-l Bayt that they had a good claim in their own right; and certainly every bit as legitimate as the Abbasids'. I would recommend a read of Sir James Redhouse KCMG's essay in vindication of the Ottomans' title of Caliph.
The last sultan-caliphs were Muhammad V Rashad and Muhammad VI Wahidu-d Din. The latter handed over the Caliphate to his son 'Abdu-l Majid, who was the incumbent Caliph therefore until his deposition in 1924. Some 'ulama hold that the concluding words of the tahiyyat (in prayer) "...hamidun majid" relate to the sultanate of 'Abdu-l Hamid II, jannat makan, and the Caliphate of 'Abdu-l Majid.
There has been no publicly acknowledged Sultan-Caliph since Muhammad Wahidu-d Din Khan, and no publicly acclaimed Caliph since 'Abdu-l Majid. There has been no Salim IV. The Imperial Family, through my late friend al-marhoumah Princess Halimah Osmanli (rahmatu-Llahi 'alayha), let it be known in mid-1999 that it is concerned about the persons being presented as claimants, or as actual 'caliphs', as it does not recognise them and considers them imposters. The Family stated that all its scions are known to it and that there is a real claimant to the sultan-caliphate, who is known, and who would be acceptable to the ahlu-l 'aqd wa-l hall of the ummah. This is the only practicable means of restoring the Caliphate, prior to the advent of Imamu-l Mahdi 'alayhi-s salam.
It is academically recognised that the Ottoman Empire was not an "Islamic State" as such, and that it was for most intents and purposes a continuation of the New Rome of the Byzantines. Furthermore it did take as a foreign policy posture a continuation of the Byzantine. Professor Uffe Ostergaard of Arhus University, has stated as much, and this has been endorsed by such scholars as Dr Shirin Akiner of SOAS and Dr Muhammad 'Isa Waley of the British Library.
It was certainly not a "Turkish" empire, except in the 'black propaganda' or dizinformatsiya of the Western Europeans, and it is sad to see this website endorsing this by default or ignorance. Prince Said Halim Pasha, author of the famous pamphlet "Islamlashmaq" and who was Sadr-i A'zam under Sultan 'Abdu-l Hamid II, jannat makan, famously stated in the Majlis-i Mab'uthan in answer to the 'Turkifying' of the Young Turks "there is only one person in the Empire who can prove that he is a Turk, and that is the Sultan" (translation).
The 'Ottoman' language (so significantly and unintelligibly different from today's 'Turkish' that it cannot be described as Turkish) was the principal official language of the Empire, but it was not the only one. It shared Official status with Arabic and Bosnian, and several of the great 'names' of the Ottoman Empire came from the Balkans - the Sokollu brothers, and Mimar Sinan and his pupil Khayru-d Din (who built the famous 'old bridge' or 'Stari Most', destroyed by the Croats, at Mostar, Bosnia), for example.
The "Friends" stated that the furthest eastward extent of the Ottoman Empire was Aceh, in Sumatra. This is true, and is a regrettably little known fact. The sultan of Aceh formally acceded to the Ottoman Empire and appealed to Sultan Sulayman for help against the Portuguese. He gave him the status of "beyler beyi" and sent a flotilla with 400 gunners and artificers attached. They manufactured canon locally and taught the Achenese gunnery, who then were able to close the Straits of Malacca to the Europeans for well over a century.
Aceh was only conquered by the Dutch in the early years of the 20th century through following the advice of the orientalist Christiaan Snouck-Hurgronje. The Dutch period was turbulent, and the Achenese appealed to the Ottomans again for help - reminding them that they were part of the Empire - in 1915 (when, for obvious reasons, they were unable to give more than moral support) and again in the 1920s. The last Achenese leader to draw attention to the Ottoman identity was Daud Beureueh.

Dear Brothers & Sisters On the subject of sects please refer to Quran verses 6:159,23:52-54,30:32,42:13-14 All sectarianism is condemned irrespective of the label ie Anglican,Catholic,Methodistist,Shia 12 Emans,7 Emans,Sufi,Naqsbandi,Shadilyah,Helveti,Sunni,Maliki,Shafi,Hanbali,Hanifi,Wahabi,Salafi etc.
The only way acceptable is Islam (submission to God) please see 3:19,30:30,3:85 Therefore a 'sect of Islam' can not exist. Peace Darren

Ottoman Khilafa was the last legitamite islamic leadership for all moslems. It was destroyed by al-koffar. We Moslems must re-establish alkhilafa again so a country like (current turky) become a leading country not afellow to our native enemy(Israel) thanks
i hate Mustafa Kemal.... from malaysia..
If im not mistaken, in any sect, a Caliph or in the case of Shias a mu'jtahid (in the absense of the Imam) has to be elected. Then, by that sense of logic, the Umayyads, Abbasids, and Ottomans, who were not elected, rather, dynastic rulers, have no legitimacy to the title of Caliph.

"Idha sa'alaka ibady anny fa'inny ghareeb o'jeeb da'wat al-daa'i" "if my subjects (worshipers) asked you about me, then I'm close, answering his request" notice, that Allah is promising to answer all the requests conditionaly that they have to pass by you (sa'alaka), therefore this is a clear recognition of the status of Ahl Il'Bayt, Wa al'huda min Allah. Wonderful. A fitting tribute to an era Westerners tend to ignore. If only we in the West understood just how much our everyday lives were shaped by the existence of the Ottoman Empire.

In the name of Ar-Rahmaan and Ar-Raheem
"...therefore fear not men but fear Me and sell not My Signs for a miserable price. If any do fail to judge by what Allah has revealed they are the unbelievers (kafirun)." [Qur'an 5:44]
"He has ordained for you that religion which He commended unto Noah, and that which We inspire in thee (Muhammad), and that which We commended unto Abraham and Moses and Jesus, saying: ESTABLISH THE RELIGION, and be not divided therein. Dreadful for the idolaters is that unto which thou callest them. Allah chooseth for Himself whom He will, and guideth unto Himself him who turneth (toward Him)." [Qur'an 42:13]
The Law of Allah must be established. Whoever works to destroy it, or mindfully, under no oppression chooses not to rule by it, is NOT a muslim! Ataturk worked to destroy Islam! Laiklik, or secularism exclude religious beliefs from government affairs, this means that the secular government rejects the Law of Allah! This means that the secular government and its strong adherents are NOT muslims!
"And whoever contradicts and opposes the Messenger after the Guidance [of Allah] has been manifested unto him, and follows other than the believer's way, we shall keep him in the path he has chosen, and burn him in Hell; what an evil destination." [Qur'an 4:115]
"Say, (O Muhammad to Mankind): 'If you love Allah then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins, Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.'" [Qur'an 3:31]
We must obey the Messenger of Allah (prophet Muhammed (s.a.w)), we can not reject authentic hadith, those people who do, answer my questions: where in the qur'an do you find the adhan (ezan), where in the qur'an do you find the price manner of praying, where in the qur'an do you find the number of rak'at (rekat) to pray for specified salat times etc...
"O you who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger and those of you who are in authority." [Qur'an 4:59]
We must obey Allah and obey the messenger, and if those who are in authority obey Allah and obey the messenger, we must also obey them otherwise we must fight them! Note that the word 'obey' has been used in obedience to Allah and in obedience to the Messenger however it has not been used when mentioning those who are in authority, because obedience to Allah and His Messenger take precedence!
"This day have I perfected your religion for you and completed My favour unto you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion." [Qur'an 5:3]
The above verse is clear proof that our religion is complete, any innovation (change, newly introduced matters) in the religion is going astray, and going against the word of Allah. In fact anyone who knowingly follows an innovation in the religion is ultimately rejecting the religion of Allah because they are really saying Allah's religion is not 'complete'.

Salamualaikum, I condemn your comments on the Armenian issue. It was not a genocide, it was a must to move those people cooperating with the enemy rather than their country, to other parts of the empire far from the front lines of war. How can't you see the thousands of Turks and Kurds massacered by the armenians, how can't you mention about the mass graves of turks and kurds ? You may criticise Young Turks, you may find them the primary responsibles of the collapse of Ottoman Empire, but in order to blame those people, you can not say what they did was wrong. Under those circumstances, moving the disloyal citizens from one region to another in the ottoman territory was a must. I hope you take care of my criticism and make a more objective approach to the armenian issue. It was not only the armenians lost their lives, but as much as turks and kurds also. Thanks and regards.
M. Cagri Koksal Riyadh-Saudi Arabia ckoksal@medu.net.sa
i forgot to add one thing, if you see the young turks as the cause of the declined empire, you are stupid, more than that, you are bullshit...ottoman empire was already finished, they tried to rebuild only. you idiots...
you are insane and do not follow the sunnah, but instead follow your desires, which lead you astray. Stop this Naqshabandi stuff. The Prophet (pbuh) was not Naqshyabandi. He definitly did not do thid dzikr stuff you do. We do not have saints like the catholics do. What is wrong? Why all this fitna?

You show the real face of Arab attitude towards the tolerant and merciful Turks. I condemn your comments about the alleged Armenian massacres despite millions of Turks were butchered in Balkans and Anatolia by the Christians like Greeks, Serbs, Bulgarians and Armenians. EOM
