File Description [top]

The Asia-Pacific database covers the business, economics, and new industries of the Pacific Rim nations, including east Asia, Southeast Asia, the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, Australia, and the Pacific Island nations. Records are of two types: 1) main records consisting of abstracts or citations for journal articles and other publications, and 2) company thesaurus records. Detailed abstracts are provided for selected journal articles, monographs, selected papers in conference proceedings, dissertations, and government documents. Shorter citations with briefer indexing are provided for a wide variety of journal articles, newspapers, government documents, and annual report publications.

Asia-Pacific also includes an extensive Corporate Thesaurus subfile, which provides detailed coverage of the corporate players in Asia-Pacific regions, including thousands of companies traded on the rapidly emerging stock exchanges of Southeast and East Asia. For example, the thesaurus includes over 800 Mayalasian corporations and over 1,000 corporations from the People's Republic of China. In addition, the global operations and subsidiaries of transnational corporations and multinational corporations based in these countries are traced.

Asia-Pacific selectively covers many U.S. and international publications, including over 150 local (non-U.S.) newspapers and business journals, government documents, conference proceedings, press releases, and monographs.
