What Is It?

PcdMore is a project that started out as a way to give something back to my wife who has done so much sewing for me over the years.  It's a Win95 program that can load Pfaff PC Designer 2 files, for viewing and making minor changes.  The program is still in the beta stages so not all of the features are finished but it quite usable in its current state.

Features:

  • Windows 95  (Sorry, no Win3.1)
  • Reads PC Designer 2.0 binary files.  Now also reads 2.1 files
  • Uses separate windows for each design, allowing multiple files to be open at once
  • Supports drag-n-drop opening of files
  • Displays design with full details: sizes, colors used, comments and more
  • Drawing of any color can be turned off, to get a view of certain pieces of the design
  • Allows editing of bitmap name and comments
  • The standard colors can be changed and saved back into the file
  • Some features for naming the colors to make playing with your designs easier (and more fun)

Problems

Missing OLEAUT32.DLL
Some people get an 'OLEAUT32.DLL:420' error when they run the program.  The problem is caused by an older dll on your computer.  You can check by looking in C:\Windows\System, right-clicking on oleaut32.dll, and choosing properties. Click the version tab and check the version number. It needs to be about 2.20.4049 or greater.
Installing any newer windows program including MS Internet Explorer 3 or 4 should give you an updated dll. Another solution is to download the update pack, axdist.exe, containing the newer dll.  Just do a search for axdist.exe and pick the closest link to you that works.
After downloading the file, run it and then restart your computer. This will update oleaut32 as well as some other dll 's on your machine.

Download

Please remember that this is a free program.  Even though it is still Beta software, I consider it very stable and usable.  I have tested it on hundreds of designs, making every effort to ensure that it works correctly.  It has never damaged any of my files.  That being said, I now have to keep the lawyers happy.

DISCLAIMER: I can not be held responsible for any damage to any software or hardware that results from the direct or indirect use of this program.

With that out of the way, you can download beta version 0.99 from this site.
