LAKE ERIE

The Western Basin of Lake Erie ranks as the all - time greatest trophy Walleye Fishery, according to "In Fisherman" magazine. "This is the King of Walleye Fisheries, the magazine reports." Lake Erie is blessed with superb latitude, depth and climate for producing numbers of scale bending Walleyes. With so many major rivers feeding it, Erie is a perfect incubator, rarely experiencing a poor year Walleye hatch. Walleye populations on Lake Erie increased from 49.2 million Walleyes in 1997 to 68.2 million in 1998. Port Clinton, Ohio (Ottawa County) have approximately 107 miles of shoreline. Recent fishery statistics report 70% of the Walleye caught in Lake Erie were taken from Ottawa County waters. The superior Walleye fishing available in our Western Basin make Lake Erie the "Walleye Capital of the World!"

When hiring a guide service to fish these waters, there are 3 key words -
EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE, EXPERIENCE.

Captain Pat Winke is a lifelong resident of the area, fishing Lake Erie since 1963, and professionally fishing the waters of the Western Basin for the past 18 years. Most area guides offer 8 hour charters, BUT they are running 2 charters per day. Captain Winke is one of the few guides who only books 1 charter per day. This is a professional courtesy to you, the customer. If the weather is inclement at the scheduled departure time, Winke Guide Service will do everything possible to insure you receive your FULL 8 HOURS.
