___BACK: Row 1: MOTIF NO. 1: Ch 6, join with sl st to first st of ch.
___Round 1: Ch 4, 1 dc in centre of ring, (ch 1, 1 dc in ring) 14 times, ch 1, join with sl st to 3rd st of ch 4.
___Round 2: Ch 1, 1 sc in each ch space and each dc around, join with sl st to first ch 1.
___Round 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in first st, ch 4, (yo, draw up a loop in next st, yo and draw through 2 loops) twice, yo and draw through all loops on hook (a 2 joined dc made), (ch 4, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts) 7 times, ch 9, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts, (ch 4, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts) 3 times, ch 9, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts, (ch 4, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts ) twice, ch 4, join with sl st to top of first ch 3. Fasten off.
___MOTIF NO. 2: Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 of first motif.
___TO JOIN: Round 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in first st, ch 2, remove hook, insert hook in last ch 4 space worked on first motif, ch 2, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts of 2nd motif, (ch 2, remove hook, insert hook in next ch 4 space of first motif, ch 2, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts of 2nd motif) twice, ch 4, turn, sl st in centre st of ch 9 of first motif, turn, (ch 4, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts of 2nd motif) 4 times, ch 9, (a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts, ch 4) eight times, join with sl st to top of first ch 3. ___MOTIF NO. 3: Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 of first motif.
___TO JOIN: Round 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in first st, join to Motif No. 2 in same manner, starting by joining to 3rd free ch 4 space after ch 9 loop. Repeat Motif No. 3 until 9(10-11) motifs are joined to form lower edge of shell.

___Row 12: MOTIF NO. 1: Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 of first motif.
___TO JOIN: Round 3: Ch 3, 1 dc in first st, (ch 4, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts) 11 times, ch 4, sl st in same st as first 2 motifs of last row joined, ch 4, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts of first motif of Row 12, ch 2, continue to join in same manner as before. Fasten off.
___MOTIF NO. 2: Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 of first motif.
___TO JOIN: Round 3: Join in same manner as for 2nd motif of 2nd row until 5th joined dc is completed, (ch 4, a 2 joined dc over next 2 sts) 8 times, ch 4, join in same manner as before to end of round. Fasten off. Repeat Motif No. 2 until 9(10-11) motifs are joined.
___FRONT: Work to correspond to back.
___FINISHING: Sew underarm seams for 8 motifs ONLY. Last 4 motifs at top edge are left open for armholes. Sew shoulder seams for 3 (3 - 3-1/2) motifs from each arm edge and leave remaining 3 (4-4) motifs for neck, tapering from arm edge to neck.
___ARMHOLE EDGING: With right side facing you, work 3 rounds sc.
___Round 4: Working from LEFT to RIGHT, 1 sc in each st around. Fasten off. Steam lightly.
