NOMFWIC Registered User Name(bondcliff@bigfoot.com) thought aloud on 7/26/2000 at 1:16 pm:

Read this post and then click my name.

This may be an amazingly stupid thing, but I thought I'd try it anyway.

www.halfbakery.com is a website where people can post ideas they have and other people can comment on them. I've always had a theory that any idea, if hyped enough, could be a success. Just look at the Backstreet Boyz, the Titanic Movie, Lunchables, and those teen dramas on the WB.

I've just created an amazingly stupid idea. What I need you guys to do is to go there, vote FOR it, and write an annotation saying what a great idea it is. You'll need to register, but that only requires that you pick a user name and password.

Just so I can tell your annotations from the rest of the world's, please somehow incorporate the name of a country (any country will do) in your post.

My ultimate goal is to convince one or two idiots out there to jump on the bandwagon and agree that this is a good idea. It will never happen, I know, but maybe we'll all get a chuckle out of this anyway. Maybe not.

No.

NOMFWIC Registered User Name(bondcliff@bigfoot.com) helped out by adding on 7/26/2000 at 1:29 pm:

Just because you smell like that naturally, doesn't mean you shouldn't help out your friends.

Norma Jean Registered User Namethought aloud on 7/26/2000 at 1:39 pm:

Is this because of the whole your hospital sucks thing. OK, it doesn't. Happy?

Elocon Registered User Namepointed out on 7/26/2000 at 1:48 pm:

What a groovy idea...phish ties!

far out man.

Norma Jean Registered User Namespoke up on 7/26/2000 at 1:57 pm:

You're just saying that because you need a job.....well NOMFWIC can't help.

SheCabbage Registered User Name(cabbageny@yahoo.com) piped up on 7/26/2000 at 1:58 pm with:

Done. :)

Ford Prefect Registered User Namesaid on 7/26/2000 at 2:04 pm:

I undisgustipated mine so I wouldn't get censored.

Mouse Registered User Namepointed out on 7/26/2000 at 2:06 pm:

I've always felt that the world could use more of a fishy smell...

NOMFWIC Registered User Name(bondcliff@bigfoot.com) pointed out on 7/26/2000 at 5:15 pm:

Dammit! Would you people help me here! This is science, for Christ's sake!

I'm trying to get up to 2.5 croissants.

SheCabbage Registered User Name(cabbageny@yahoo.com) thoughtfully added on 7/26/2000 at 5:29 pm:

Who's dijutta?

NOMFWIC Registered User Name(bondcliff@bigfoot.com) interjected on 7/26/2000 at 5:34 pm:

I don't know. If you click her name it says she wrote the halfbakery program, but I find that hard to believe.

The 'Djibouti' reference leads me to believe it's our old friend Urkel.

Most likely it's some Stewpid trying to spoil the fun.

Anyway, I'm enjoying this.

vertical bob Registered User Namecouldn't resist adding on 7/26/2000 at 7:07 pm:

We should try to interest those people who made that Billy Bass singing fish thingamajiggy in this. Just look at those comments, guys! Everybody loooooves it! Maybe they'll lose every penny they made off that horrid thing.

Idiot Savant spoke up on 7/26/2000 at 8:20 pm:

For you, Nomf, I have done what little I could. I thought that tying in sex appeal to smelly fish ties was the best way to sell it to idiots.

paintgirl Registered User Name(paintgirl67@earthlink.net) pointed out on 7/26/2000 at 8:34 pm:

I played off the sex appeal thing too. And I think it would be perfectly appropriate to have Big Mouth Billy Bass smell like week-old-rotting-in-the-sun catfish.

paintgirl Registered User Name(paintgirl67@earthlink.net) thoughtfully added on 7/26/2000 at 8:35 pm:

By the way, my annotation just brought your count up to one-and-a-half croissants.

paintgirl Registered User Name(paintgirl67@earthlink.net) spoke up on 7/26/2000 at 10:47 pm:

In on the joke, or so very not?

Many people find the smell of fish objectionable, and I dare say hardly anyone finds it attractive or approprate as a body oder. It certainly seems inappropriate for those situations where one wears a tie. I just don't get the connection or the point. By the way, India ink often has a slight fish smell, which manufacturers take great pains to eliminate or mask. Why would you want to add a fish smell to a garment? -- undermind, Jul 26 2000

You people scare me. -- StarChaser, Jul 26 2000

Aside from its obvious lack of any value or purpose, this idea just wouldn't work. Many birds, especially gulls (and even the ubiqutious canada goose), will wildly attack anything that smells of fish. My irish setter once rolled in something fishy at the beach, and was almost pecked to death before I was able to rescue her. And besides, WHY?? -- mark_chaney, Jul 26 2000

bookworm thought aloud on 7/26/2000 at 11:40 pm:

Hey, some of us actually use Halfbakery. Go pollute someone else's playground.

Bookworm pointed out on 7/26/2000 at 11:46 pm:

And yes, Jutta is actually does run the Halfbakery. I doubt she's one of your troll friends.

The Rockin Donkey Registered User Name(ctrl@alt.del) couldn't resist adding on 7/27/2000 at 12:26 am:

Well, that sucked. I think that there's a way to find out where someone linked to a page from if you have the proper access.

JinxIsPhat Registered User Name(pththt@lauraknights.com) piped up on 7/27/2000 at 12:46 am with:

No sense of humor...what's the harm in one little fish-scented tie posting.

T_Rex Registered User Name(jon.truxillo@gte.net) interjected on 7/27/2000 at 10:24 am:

Well I tried my best, is not an easy thing to defend

Froglord Registered User Namepointed out on 7/27/2000 at 10:33 am:

We're doing our best Nomfwic. The pro comments have such a worldly flavor to them it should catch on. Maybe we could get Pierre Sallenger(sp?) to report the high interest in the idea.

paintgirl Registered User Name(paintgirl67@earthlink.net) couldn't resist adding on 7/28/2000 at 12:51 am:

I wonder if 'bookworm' realizes that he/she used a sperm icon.

Gerald the Foul threw this into the mix on 7/28/2000 at 5:48 am:

I did my part, but you're still stuck at 1 croissant. Who did the Steakpants ripoff?

Gerald the Foul thoughtfully added on 7/30/2000 at 8:26 pm:

I've been looking at this site a little, and a submitted an idea of my own. I took a different approach though, submitting a legitimate idea and trying to be as crude as possible without getting it deleted.

Some help please?

O-O-7 Registered User Name(js007@optonline.net) threw this into the mix on 7/30/2000 at 9:49 pm:

I just wrote that since Fish smelling Panties and Bras have been successful, why not ties?
