The Very Best MIDI

This page is a collection of the very best MIDI sequences. Too many times there are pages with tons of MIDI, but few of them are good compositions. This MIDI page hopes to end all of that. All MIDI sequences are categorized by listening preference below.

Because of the nature of the MIDI format, there is no good way of storing the composer's name, the sequence title, or any type of description with the sequence. I am very interested in giving credit where credit is due, so if you have any information on these sequences, please feel free to email me, Kevin Klasmeier.

I am not knowingly violating any copyright or composer requests by offering this outlet to get MIDI sequences. However, if you find your own MIDI sequence here, and wish that it would not be here, please let me know.

Page Requirements: This page requires, at an absolute minimum, a General MIDI compliant wavetable soundcard, a quality external MIDI keyboard, or software supplement with the ability to play 16 simulations sounds at once (32 recommended). If you do not meet these requirements, then unfortunately you cannot enjoy the glorious capabilities of MIDI; however, you can get a software supplement which does just as good of job (if not better) as a wavetable soundcard. Music that includes quality big band sequences with singing saxophones, brilliant trumpets, vivid pianos, and chilling trombones.

Songs that make great use of brass instruments. Sequences in this category include very real life sounding trumpets, trombones, and other brass instruments.
Carousel
Take a trip to gold old Coney Island and take a ride on the carousel.

If you check out only one section, let this be the one. This is a best of the best list which will push your MIDI card into another reality.
Disney
Walt Disney created real life magic. Each of the songs contain his dream in a way that totally exploits MIDI as far as it can go.
Drum Solos
Exceptionally written drum sequences. None of them loud and overbearing, just smooth and pleasant.
Light
My most favorite category here. The sequences here are NOT muzak, not boring, and certainly not a sleeping pill. This music is light and exceptionally composed.
Movies
The best sounding music themes and movie backgrounds from popular movies.
Moving
Picture yourself on the lifeless expressway at 1:00 in the morning after a heavy rain storm driving as fast as you can. You turn your Bose stereo on, and what do you hear...
New Age
Music that is ... well, like new age.
Nightclub
Picture yourself in a nice, quiet, upscale nightclub. There is a five piece live band up on stage playing background dinner music. This is another of my favorite sections.
Organ
Huge pipe organs, like those in a church, bellow with their thunderous power.
Patriotic
Every so often it is nice to pause and reflect on those people who have prematurely and unselfishly offered their life in return for your freedom, liberty, and comfort. Take a moment to remember these anonymous friends as you listen.
Smooth Jazz
Jazz that is NOT overbearing or annoying in any way. This jazz is nice, light, and smooth.
Video Game
Great music that is and/or can be substituted for your favorite video game soundtrack. You will find full soundtracks to many popular games here as well.
