Franklin----Before the kart Jack had a 64-65 Chevelle with a turbonique(as you know that went on the back of the rear end AND drove the wheels)
I was coming in to the track at Dallas Ga with Beswicks Nitro--GTO to race Bobby Wood.
To get to the pit area from the road you had to cross the track on the top end.
I was sitting there waiting for Jack to run so I could cross the track and about 600 ft he loses it flips a couple times and slids right up to me on the roof with the rear wheels still running about 200 mph.--Frank

I used to match race my bantam fuel altered "Rumpled Foreskin" all over the midwest. Many times we were paired up aginst this guy from the Chicago area in a Toppolino called "The Illinois Enema Bandit". His name was Fred, I believe. I lost touch with him over the years, but I recently restored the old "Rumpled" machine and are looking for someone to race. With this new ADRA deal we might have something really good going on here, and if me and Fred can hook up again, who knows?

Arvil Porter's X-1 (1970)
Reaction Dynamics Blue Flame (1970)
Bill Frederick's Courage of Australia (1971)
Tony Fox's first Pollution Packer (1972)
Jack McClure's go-kart (1972)
Mendez/Blakely/Alvarez Free Spirit (1973)

The years are the one in which the vehicle was finished and first run. Other than the X-1 name, there was no connection between the Reaction Dynamics X-1 and Arvil Porter's X-1. The Reaction Dynamics X-1 resembled a late sixties F1 car while Arvil Porter's X-1 was a go-kart configuration. However, the first Pollution Packer was powered by the engine from the Reaction Dynamics X-1.

Lastly, Pete Jensen I don't get the connection between Steinbeck and Dylan? Steinbeck, novelist that wrote acurate portrails about his youth and life as he grew up in the Montery and Salinas area of California, and Dylan vocalist who preforms songs with social, political and philosophical implications in a poetic manor? Not to many people know that Steve put together for me the complete package of the ARMORALL ROCKET DRAGSTER and what a package it was well better yet what a ride it was.
I've heard that there have been some different versions of who owened the car.
It first started out with Steve Evens, Bill Doner, grant Mcneff AKA Father duffy and Myself. After a couple of years it became Evens / Paxson.
All of this took place after I crashed the COURAGE OF AUSTRALIA at steves track ( IRWINDALE ) and we went to Gas Rondas bar to put the deal together. ( I don't know how I remembered all of that ) I don't even know if anybody cares, well maybe Pat Green.
I Have the old car back and have been restoring it back the way steve and I had it.
Enough of this for now.

Welcome to the real world, and it will be less next year. They only want PROS, because big named sponsors want pros. It will go the way of NASCAR, or it will be an "also ran". Guys who actually own cars, which is very few of the people bashing the ADRA, should give your full support, but at arms length.

Would any car owner actually object to an investment of $40.00 on the "possibility" (key word) of additional places to race their car, yet spend $2500.00 to drive to Indy and "possibly" win $1500.00.

Fellow HFers,
This line of posts about the ADRA has raised a lot of dust in the last couple of weeks. I too have not posted in regards to them till I heard more about them. I still have mixed emotions about them and will not slam them...yet...
If they can pull it off, great.
They have been working on this for sometime its said, but till just a while ago noone even heard of them. That seems strange. Something as big as it appears is one heck of a good job keeping it secret. OK, I understand that blowing your horn too soon and then not being able to back up what you say can be very bad for credibility, just as I had not posted anything about the Slingshot Nationals III b4 I got a firm date from the track. But, the FEDA is not a sanctioning body and may never have a large number of races per year. And I'm OK with that. I'm not a promoter, just a regular guy that has a passion for these cars and OUR sport.
If Bill and his group can really do this then we have another place to run our cars.
My only personal concern is that with their event the same weekend as us and it being so close that it may hurt both of us at the participants gate.

He is in a Federal Prison here in Texas and there is a friend of mine, that has a friend (confusing, huh) that still remains in contact with him.

In Houston, Buddy was a full time machinist and Sema Approved Chassis builder as he built our 1st rear engine car which was the one we defeated him with when we won the 80 Cajuns. I have tried to locate his son to borrow some pictures from him to get my site up and running but had no luck in finding him. I do remember going to his shop quite often from time to time and just looking at all the pictures that he had hanging up on his walls.

First, the turd of the day: John Force and Scelzi are
switching seats next year. Need I say more on this
one? Now some stuff with substance, Brad Anderson
has just purchased the entire Joe Gibbs TF operation.
Melanie Troxel is set to drive the Nitro Fish car, Cristen
is sidelined for now, Russ Parker is going Top Fuel,
And Tony Bartone is joining the WWF Team.

RE: Ski and the comments on style, I pick up my Tom & Jerry glass to you (this being the holiday season and all) and say "Hear! Hear!"

Strunk & White's Chick Tract of Style was required reading in some class I had at some point in my life. So naturally I did with it what I did with all required reading, left it unread and underneath a pile of clothes and empty Mickey's big Mouth bottles on my floor and read the National Enquirer instead. If they'd have made a Cliffs notes for the Strunk & White's I'da read THAT...maybe.

For the REAL meaning of style - I'd have to agree with that sexist old pig Bukowski and what he has to say on the matter:

I have seen dogs with more style then men.
Although not many dogs have style.
Cats have it with abundance.

I hope the name "Bill I mean Mr. Chapman" doesn't stick. Too much typing, like my nitrofan sign offs. Interesting silly season news. instead of aaa cool mil float, why dont they jsut have gary idle down and do an occasional burin out in the parade, tape a few flowers to the side of the car, get some model to sit on it and wave? isn't reading until recent resurfacing one of the best tracks on the circuit? I remember seeing fuel records broken pretty much every time I've gone to the september big show. by all measures of what makes a good drag strip its up there. i love the time of year, the countryside and the yearly visit the best. cant beat the factory outlet malls and the Reading Eagle coverage is expansive for 4 or five straight days. i would almost stay over monday just to see their coverage in the paper. the tradition and history is priceless, also. something of an east coast pomona almost. and for 5 days its literally amish country on nitro (courtest ralph white racing, used without permission, as usual)

finally, did we ever have a debate about fmds and push starts? Now that would be icing on the cake to a classic nitro show. hopefully some new fledgling fmd sanctioning body could incorporate that into their shows?

Click on Latest Pics - 11/28 - and scroll down to
the sixth photo. Any of you Texas boys remember
"The Thrashing Machine" AA/FD of Buddy Warren from
Houston ? New one on me.

Scroll down to four photos of another car I have
never seen before - the Briggs and Cagle dragster.
The fourth shot shows Cary C. with Dad's yellow
helmet on. Gary, that was a slick looking car.
And that push truck ! Several times a week I pass by
a used car lot that has a '65 Chevy Panel Delivery
for sale. The previous owner cut the panels and
installed two van windows on each side. It is painted
bright yellow with chrome wheels and baby Moons.
Every time I see it I seem to have a vision of a
dragster sitting in front of it, just waiting to be
push-started. The vision has appeared. Now I know what
the mystery car looks like. It has a blown Hemi.

Also on the same page, more TV Tommy Ivo photos and
captions. The Snake is depicted in several of these.

Last, but not least, on the Site Map, scroll down to
"New Dragster Replicas by Riceman". One-Of-A-Kind
scratch-built models of some famous cars. I think
some of you may have seen these at the CHRR. If he
could just duplicate some 1/25 scale Header Flames !
Oh, BTW, on Drag Racing USA Radio today, we had a
surprise caller from the East, a man of many talents,
a man with a face for Radio ( just like US!! ),
a man who tells it like it is or should be, our
own resident Hall Monitor - WRENCHSKI !!!!!!!!!
He had the correct answer to todays' trivia question,
but his reaction time was a little slow. Having to dial
up that 800 number probably cost him a few tenths !
And the prize package. Tune in next week, he might
call back and give us short history lesson on
our favorite website. We might even get him to tell
us which County he lives in down there in South
Florida. At least that's our INTENT !

them about the traction. Ron had the front end of the big red alky car hanging in the air pretty good last year. I think I'm thinking the same thing. Would be an excellent place in the center of the U.S. to have a BIG front motor showdown. And if ya can't feel some "history" on the site of the first U.S. Nationals, well, ya wouldn't know it anyway.

From-Billy Nitro < billca@pdq.net>

Been staying out of this ADRA for a reason. I wanted to see the paticulars before I said what I'm about to.

It was mentioned that it won't cost $60.00 to go to one of their events and I'm very sure that in itself is totally correct. But the scheduled events at least in my neck of the woods, will prevent me from attending unless I drive 400 miles round trip and stay over night (or 2) at a hotel, plus all the other ammenities that are required for such a road trip (you can do the math).

I think that it's going to take more cars and more tracks to get involved before any money is going to show up in anyone's pockets from a fan base. When on any given month you could go to a ADRA race within 100 mile radius of your home and know there will be a minimum of 12 fuel or gas diggers then your talking progress, but that as you all know takes time. That means advertising someplace other then Header Flames. What I'm talking about is the people (future fans) that don't know what's going on and don't visit this site.

As far as ADRA schedule...you gotta start someplace and the venues they have seem to be fine, for now. TV would be able to get the word out as long as it's not shown at 1AM. I personally feel that getting TV involved at the early stage is a mistake. What you need is to give them something they WANT to cover then you're in control, not the other way around.

I wish the ADRA all the best wishes in this venture and I hope that in addition to the HRR's we can have another outlet for our addiction.

Nice Post Travis,
If any thing applaud Mr Chapman for having the kahuna's to try and make a go of this thing. It is real easy for us armchair drag racing promoters to criticise him at this point.

On paper most everything works until it comes time to showcase the results for real. I'm sure he is open for any and all suggestions with the advice from this board. If anything we all racers & fans need to be on his side, if it wasn't for guys like him, then the only thing these Hot Rods would be good for is the "Annual Autorama" that rolls into town once a year.

As far as that criticism a few weeks ago the guys running the older funny cars & alterds. Maybe they have a passion for what they run, or just maybe the wallet isn't fat enough to run what they would really like to, but let them have there fun also. Sometimes the smaller guys are the backbone of the sport

If I could just hit the Texas Lottery one time, I would be running something also, but my 3 girls are breaking me!!! The guys running the Newstalgia/Nostalgia Rails most likely know they aren't going to get rich but are doing something that they do enjoy and hopefully will make some money to help offset their expenses.

Everyone knows that Drag Racing/Nitro is an addiction and there is no known cure for it!!!!

Maple Grove is a fine facility, you can hook up if you know your business. It is also in a spot of unparrelled beauty, has a huge campground and swimming pool as part of the property. The area has plenty motels, great antique markets, outlet malls and all the entertainment a family could want. And plenty of real good restauant. Mr. silent , have you ever raced at the Grove? Have you ever attended an event?
I have questioned some aspects of the plans for the June race. I posted some questions for Mr. Chapman that have so far gone unanswered. I have not trashed the ADRA. Untill one gets answers, untill the ADRA's actions are seen in the next 7 months, they should get the benifit of the doubt. So to with Maple Grove and George Case. It would be easy to be
a bomb thrower now. Lets see if the purse is layed out for all to see, lets see what there rules look like and if they let people see or grind us for a few dollars. Drag race promotion made many millionaires. Being a dick is often not as profitable.

He is due to be released from the hospital tomorrow and says he will be back online at his keyboard as early as tommorrow afternoon.

Subject-ADRA and drag racing in general
Date- Sunday, December 03, 2000 at 18:16:49 (EST)
From-Travis Perrenot < trabob61@ntws.net>

Lets give Mr. Chapman and the ADRA a chance. Just about the most prevalent thing that gets talked about on this forum is reinventing NHRA and Drag Racing in general. Maybe this is a beginning. The Good Guys have done a pretty good job, but their primary thing is car shows. Maybe thats what it takes to pay the bills. I sure dont know. Drag Racing as I grew up with is a fast fading memory. I havent had the privilege to attend either the March Meet or CHRR. The HHRR has been my biggest exposure to Drag Racing (I hate to use the word Nostalgia) as I knew it. I WANT the ADRA to succeed. I WANT the HHRR and all the rest to keep on growing. I WANT the shootout at the OK corral to continue to be an EVENT. I WANT old time NITRO racing to survive and flourish.
Looking over the proposed dates for the ADRA races, only a couple looks like they would really conflict with other established races. The Slingshot Nats at Cardova and the proposed race at Great Bend look like lockhorn deals. The Mid- America race and the ADRA race at Banning, really dont see a big conflict due to the distance involved. Good Guys at Indy? Gonna be a real busy couple of weeks for anyone trying to run all the races. But a little shuffling would work wonders. Lets face it most of the heavy hitters cant stay gone from home and on the road for 3 to 5 weeks. There just isnt enough money to make it possible.
Instead of just screaming and hollering about this, lets see if we cant help make it work. I havent heard anyone from ADRA say they arent willing to talk. And if they do have a TV deal, maybe they will be the salvation for OUR kind of drag racing. I personally think that big business was the worse thing that ever happened to drag racing. But thats my opinion. I dont think anything is gonna ever make top fuel , funny car or any other nitro class affordable to Joe Average. But if there were places to race several Guys/Gals might team up and be able to race. But not if they have to crisscross the country to find a place to race. We need to bring fuel racing back to the local level.
Well, I certainly have run on longer than I meant to. But, come on, lets at least try to support someone who is trying to support us.

For anyone who did not see my post in midweek, the UK Daily Telegraph article on the NHRA Finals is still at the Telegraph website, probably till tomorrow:

www.telegraph.co.uk/motoring

This piece was published on the front page of the paper's motoring section on Sat. 25 Nov, covering 3 pages and showing 14 photos, the biggest of which was a close-up of the Pedregon-Cannon crash. (The website photo shows a Swedish TF in UK.) It's an entertaining piece -- some inaccuracies, etc., but plenty of enthusiasm, and the author likes nitro. What's remarkable is that it is there at all. This is not some small-scale, provincial rag. The Telegraph is a national heavyweight, equivalent, say, to the NY Times.
There is also an Angelle Seeling interview lower down the website's front page.

Good story, Frank. I wish more people were willing to laugh at themselves a bit more. Tends to show the "human" side of us I guess. Posted quite some time back I had run out of fuel lining up to race what turned out to be a sure win as the other guy broke. Fired that baby three times and each time it died again. Took about twenty minutes of head scratching before the light bulb above my head lit and I walked to the car and popped the fuel tank lid. Anybody else have a "Duh! story" they'd like to share?

Date- Sunday, December 03, 2000 at 15:45:14 (EST)
From-The Racer < Mavricky2@aol.com>

It's funny how the people who have the most boisterous opinions always use a fake name or address. The silent Lurker is just that..a person who has no ability to comprehend how the sport or business of drag racing works.

I have been a supporter for the Drag City group in Banning for a while now and now am a supporter of the ADRA. All I can say is let's dissect your quote:

Silent Lurker said,
"Did they say Banning? A track that will probably never see the light of day and if it does who will show up to see nostalgia cars, hell Goodguys couldn't even put fans in the seats at Pomona how will Bannings weed patch sell enough tickets to pay for a $31,000 purse plus other expenses."

Let me tell you how. Obviously you are unaware that the Banning Chamber of Commerce and Drag City jointly sponsored the BANNING DRAGS in October this year that included a "night of fire" With no dollars spent in advertising or promotion (yes, NONE) over 4,000 people came to see a field of 16 altereds, dragsters and the famed Winged Express race in a 3 hour period. All this happened on a semi-hooking airport runway. The fans loved it and so did the racers. many said that it was just like the good ole days at Lions.

If this many fans came out to see just a few of these cars run then your observation are bogus. People came from all over. Ventura, Long Beach, San Diego, San Bernardino, Palmdale, L.A., etc.

You see my friend the reason you can't fill a track at Pomona is simple. How can it be a host to a so called nostalgia drag race when the track itself lacks anything that represents the past or for that matter the so called race cars? Oh so you put up a few banners that say nostalgia and it supposed to make it that...NOT

Drag Racing in Banning was awesome because there was character in the field of cars, flames shooting out of the pipes and a crowd that could afford the tickets and didn't have to sit in the hot sun in the middle of July. Oh did I mentioned that in the old days there was LOTS of night time racing in SO-CAL, just like they had in Banning.

I believe that the DRAG CITY and the ADRA are going to be bringing drag racing back like it should be. Fun affordable, entertaining and one hell of a show.

I'm also another nose up needle pointer from the west coast. I worked with nitro teams for many years. Maple Grove is big and in a powerful market. Maple Grove also has one of the worst god awful excuses for a racing suface of the tour. NHRA keeps it because its a great market and that's about all it is. This ADRA pipe dream makes me laugh. The idea of an east coast nostalgia race has me and the dog rolling on the floor.

To all the people that are actually involved and doing something constructive towards these new association,Bravo to all of you! Please don't try to use all the info on this site as alot of it is by people who will most likely never field a car or buy a ticket to watch. I know that you won't have all the best dates, that you can't offer enough purse to make it pay, and won't be at the very best tracks.I say you have to start somewhere so start there and build on it.As Pete said there were alot of races that GG didn't make money or got rained out or the tracks were terrible or the car counts were small. It takes a long time for Drag racing to establish a patttern of events that spectators will come to attend with regularity, unlike circle racing with weekly, shows etc.

As to the rules of the classes I would hope that you would set them and leave them for at least 4 years as nothing kills new cars into the class faster than rule changes.Keep it simple and people will adjust. Alot of guys with the money to build don't care so much as to the vehicle as they do to the structure, presentation and atmosphere. The GG program is a good place to start. It's not without it's flaws mind you but it works.

As for the rules are the GG rules going to be it in the Nostalgia class? When it gets on paper, please put me on your mailing list and good luck. Later Mark

As a west coast guy, I can't believe you people think this ADRA deal is some new star come to save the promised land of nostalgia drag racing. NDRA Goodguys ANRA Pro Nitro ADRA what do they all have in common? Nostalgia top fuel dragsters. Goodguys has tons of money and thousands of hot rod car members to draw from and lets don't forget there huge California car show events that draw tens of thousands of people. They had the money to buy good race dates at good tracks and the time to build up the March Meet which is there center piece in the world of nostalgia racing. Now this new track in Vegas will have two races and G-G will have the time and money to develope them into winners like the March Meet. I predict they will drop at least one of there two Sears Point races within two years. ADRA shows a $31,000 purse at Fallen Nevada? is this some kind of sick joke? and did they say Banning? A track that will probably never see the light of day and if it does who will show up to see nostalgia cars, hell Goodguys couldnt even put fans in the seats at Pomona how will Bannings weed patch sell enough tickets to pay for a $31,000 purse plus other expences. Come on guys are you peolpe lemmings or what? Can you say pie in the sky? Go ahead send in your $40 so they can raise a few thousand dollars to keep the dream alive for a few more months well at least until they have there big opener at Fallen. I guess if they sell there tickets for $100 each and then hope to sell 4000 tickets they might be able to break even. Has any one checked into this so called TV package? I thought not. Again can you say pie in the sky? OK I'm a lemming too, but I want my $40 bucks back now that I've had a chance to think about this whole deal. Unless they have the resorses of Gary Meadors and the Goodguys empire they are in for the same plight as NDRA ANRA Pro Nitro and any other small time group. Some one wrote on here that they give them 5 years, that guy is a flaming optimist, they won't even make 5 races at a $31,000 purse at tracks like Fallen Nevada or Banning give me a break!

For quite some times during the 70's and 80's if you were a Keith Black parts customer you could rent space inside KB's fenced lot next to the shop.
We kept our rig there several times and during one of our winter vists KB bought a new Mercedes, telling us this is the first thing I have ever bought for myself instead of putting the money back into the business.
Being quite proud of his new toy Keith invited some of us to ride with him to lunch.
There were 4 of us KB--myself--Roland Leong--and I think Holley Heddrick.
We all were milling around the Mercedes getting ready to go when this kid on a bicycle rides up and starts talking to KB about a job after school cleaning up the shop.
We all get in KB turns the key and nothing happens--couple tries nothing, we all get out and open the hood looking for the battery--no battery there---We try the trunk no battery there either--Someone suggested it might be like an early Vette under the rear floorboards--So we start to look there as well.
In the mean time while we are opening all doors hood and trunk+ taking up the rear carpets this kid on the bicyle is calling KEITH-KIETH and after a few times of that Black turns to the kid--WHAT---Kid says you know you have to have it in park or it won't start.
KB climbs in and starts the car--We close the hood and trunk --Climb in and then we just set there (motor running)not looking at one other--4 hero tuners ok-ok three heros and me.
After another minute or so KB looks around to everyone and said " I would really apprectate it if we just kept this our little secret" Frank

It's great that we have a place like Header Flames to aire our views about racing and events, but we got people down playing planned events by ADRA, give them a chance!! nobody is going to have to book cars in from anywhere if the payout is as much as they said. We have Fuel Cars in the midwest and east too, maybe not as many as in the west, but we have tracks and they don't, some of the people out in California got too damn money hungry and sold out and about killed Drag Racing out there, Maple Grove may not be the best track in the country but the surface is smooth and when NHRA ran the Keystone Nationals, they ran fast, besides ADRA is starting thier tour out west, in Fallon,Nv. so when the racers go there and everything goes good, they will go on to the next event.
This thing will work, its been a long time comming, it takes alot of planning, nobody wants to fail, and as far as a get rich quick deal goes, just how rich can a person get on one event? and why? if you screw a bunch of people over then your name is "mud" in the racers world, you don't get a second chance.
Don't think that Bill Chapman isn't nervous about his first event.
I started the NFCA a couple of years ago and our first event was the Indy GoodGuys, I booked in 10 cars for an 8 car show, I had racers cancel out at the last minute, this thing was nerve racking, but it was worth it, we have had several match races sence then and I feel that it's been a success, because it's growing. You have to remember this isnt the 60s, alot of people are trying to bring back whats been dead for a long time, besides what other choice do we have? Thanks, Bob Gibson / NFCA

You don't have to be a member to race GGs Indy. I can see one having to be a member if there is a points fund of some kind. There are virtually NO "nostalgia" cars in the west. They have gotten so far from the way the cars used to be that they are not even calling them "newstalgia" anymore, rather settling for the title AA/FED's. You all sit here and whine about the Goodguys and the NHRA, traveling across the country to the Indy Goodguys race for a shot at winning half the money it took to get there, and when someone works their collective asses off to provide what could turn out to be a far superior alternative (better purses, multi-media exposure, etc.)you turn up your noses, cry "BULLSHIT!" and turn your backs to go back to what you were doing : pissing and moaning about whatever like a bunch of Goddamn old ladies sitting on the porch with your needlepoint ! It just amazes me how in a few short decades you have gone from being a group of Hell on wheels, kick ass and tip the can dragracers to the maudlin' bunch of pussies that I am now watching ! Mr. Chapman , some questions:
Since you are a brand new group, with new and different rules, will you make your rules available on the web?

Is it true than any entrant in the Maple Grove race has to be a member of your organisation?

Do you feel that you have ANY idea of the kind of race car attendance at current eastern events? Do you know how many cars regulary attend in some classes in the Notheast region?
We could use "Jr. Fuel" as an example, what do you figure attendance is?

What would you say is the availability of funny cars or dragsters that actualy run on nitro, in this region?

Is your purse structure available to be viewed somewhere? You are a new organisation and many would like to see what you will pay and how it willl be distributed.

Does you Maple Grove event conflict with GOODGUYS at INDY?

thank you in advance for your honest answers.

I like what I've heard so far about the ADRA. Just wish they would have looked around a little more before scheduling their midwest race dates. Now they have some scheduling conflicts with established midwest nostalgia events. Memorial Weekend, and the first weekend in August, Mid-America Raceways in Wentzville, Mo. always has their nostalgia events, June 6-8 is The Goodguys race at Indy, and June 30-July 1 is the Slingshot Nationals at Cordova, Il.

For the guys on the west coast that thinks there is no nostalgia racing east of the Rockies, I think it is way past time to pull you heads out of the sand. The sun doesn't rise and set on only the west coast. MAR has been putting on nostalgia events for over 15 years, and you can't discount Suhr and Luctinburgs performances and Indy and Cordova last year.

Since Bill decided to break cover, I thought I would come out of deep lurk, too.

I am the Chairman of the Board and Chief Information Officer. That means I work at making things work and leave all the day-to-day stuff up to Chapman and his crew.

He is doing a great job!

Pretty much the entire organization and the stock holders have been following the comments here for sometime. Those who can't get on-line for a couple of days call Bill or I and we read them what's up.

There have been some great questions about who we are and, our favorite -- where did they come from, asked here.

Instead of us answering, we are leaving that to the professionals who have taken the time to do deep background interviews, follow our development, and in other ways learned what we are about.

We don't expect you to believe stuff we say about ourselves; you don't even know who we are.

They do and they will tell all.

Starting next week in Scott's magazine, and with Richard in his, the word will hit the street. These men can tell a good story that you can trust. Also, they can spell.

We have not seen anything they are going to publish and have not insulted them by asking to see any copy. We expect them to tell it like it is.

Once they have, we will be more active here and on other boards and newsgroups.

till then,

Dave Hopkins - thanks for the concise info on this merger business. Puts it all in a tidy little nutshell. What is the name of the book? Sounds like it should be mandatory reading for all us Flamers.

Second mandatory book should be E.B. Whites Elements of Style, so all posts can read like they were done by professional journalists. It's my goal in life to never even open it because Ski's advice to me on writing (don't get ANY education on writing what so ever) is something I hold very dear.

Bill's post seemed pretty understandable and well written to me, but in the second reading separating the paragraphs woulda been a nice touch, but no big whoop.

Can't Ski and Cole get those spiffy grammer and spelling checkers like all word processing programs have?

Bill - can I call next week during business hours and get an ADRA membership by credit card? Checks are so much "for the little people" it would make me feel icky. (Think Bill Gates writes personal checks?)

Got some email from Dale Pulde who was at the NYNS race with the Bahrdal Bug that injured so many I had mentioned in one of my rare posts that actually had anything to do with drag racing. It was his first race on the east coast and he had his first fire in a race with Della Woods that weekend. Thanks for the info Dale.

Spend the evening with Al and Ellen Hanna, conducting part deux of the HF interview. First part was 1 hour of tape and 6 hours of transcription which took me 6 months to produce. Now I got 2 hours of tape plus a priceless file of ink Al kept through his whole career. So, it should take 3 years to finish this time, all things being equal. But the thought of someday putting that Nitronics sticker on my crappy 150,000 Probe makes it all worth it. Ski - who do I mail my expenses to for reimbursement for the DINNER IT WAS MY TURN TO BUY????? Al told me Bill Stephens was a DJ in Hartford wayyyyyy before the racing thing, and he locked himself in the studio for 38 hours playing the same record over and over. Not implying hes gonna fill Steve Evans big shoes, but I think he can be pretty Evans-esque talent and character-wise.

You flamers won't have any more posts from Jimmy to kick around any more. I got work to do. Boy I hope this Dragon Naturally Speaking voice recognition stuff works or Ski and Dean are gonna be pizzed.
