Fantasticon also serves us up a slice of what they felt about Generator Gawl as well. New to us in the "reviews" blurbs we give here in news, CartoonExpress hits us up with their thoughts on Sin The Movie. The gang at GamePro gives us a taste of Nadesico Volumes 1-3, all good stuff. Then, Anime-Jump springs on us with a Gasaraki review. Thanks Gang! Lastly I've been told AIYAA is now streaming our trailers and providing info on some of our titles! 08-22-2000Holy Cats It's A Heat Wave!

Texas Heat

Well the temperatures keep rising here in Texas. Every year I swear it gets hotter and hotter, much like our offices here. To say that ADV is busy would be an understatement. Madness! Much to do! And you won't believe what we have in store for you in the future. But first let's cool down with some chillin links.

Gimme a G!

Remember "He's Mean, He's Green, He's Back on the SCREEN!"?? Of course you do!! It's our favorite big monster movie star : Gamera! With all Godzilla on the big screen again (and I hear pretty hilarious to boot) I decided we needed a recap on our own big boy Gamera! So how is old G? Well the net's been kind to him. As you know Gamera 2 & 3 are coming soon from yours truly, but until then get a taste of the big G here: Gamera - Guardian of the Universe, Gamera 2 - Advent of Legion, and Gamera 3 - Incomplete Struggle. Woo! Gamera 3 sounds awesome! Coming soon!!

Asuka & Naga Make the Cut!

Stay Tooned - Babes of Anime up and YES - Asuka & Naga, oooo even the classic babe Madoka have made the cut to be listed as one of the Babes of Anime! (Ya know we should compile our own list of anime babes! The Babes of ADV! Wooo!)

Sinful notes and Samurai X

Ahh at last, SIN is beginning to appear out there in net land. Yep. SIN promotional screeners have gone out and now the waiting game for reviews has begun! Who will be the first to send in their report? ToonamiX blasts on the screen with a good in depth review of the picture. Check it out! Sin The Movie. While you're out there surfing be sure to check out Fantasticon's review of Samurai X.

More Asuka!

Dang I hate it when I miss a good link. Check out Another Universe's Asuka Speaks!, a nice interview with the voice actress Tiffany Grant regarding her life as a voice behind Asuka in the hit series Neon Genesis Evangelion. For more info on Tiffany and why not, we all love her, be sure to visit her home page HERE!

Chibi-Jess

Reports on the net say that Jessica Calvello, yes the leading lady behind ADV characters Mink (Dragon Half), Honey (Cutey Honey), Fam (Ruin Explorers), Yuri (Dirty Pair), Gossiping Woman?!??! (Neon Genesis Evangelion) and countless others (namely Hiraku, the other lead girl opposite Madoka in KIMAGURE ORANGE ROAD that didn't make Stay Tooned Babe's of Anime list, for shame Jessica!)... HAS pierced her belly-button. Shocked as we are here at ADV, we support Jessica in all her ventures and hope for the best on this disturbing piece of news. Ok it's not that shocking but still! For more concerns, comments and more information regarding this matter not to mention to participate in a cool contest to figure out what she put there check out her website now and tell her ADV sent ya! Gossiping Woman?!? LOL

Dan SPEAKS!

I think we should have a new column called Dan SPEAKS! Why? Well as the Content'O'Matic I see soooo many cool things here at ADV that I think you all should know about. Like what? Well for one I just heard the english dub of Generator Gawl and man its awesome! This is one dub I think fans will really really like. Course I like most of our dubs as well but this new show Generator Gawl has something that just makes it click right with the english dub on it. Enough praise for Gawl, lets talk mechs, lets talk Gasaraki. Can you say mind bender? You thought EVA was a trip, Gasaraki is EVA times ten. Killer art in this production and the boxes and promo goodies our Art gang came up for this new show will surely make it fly off the shelves, just be sure to get a hold of the poster! There's much much more like I've said the madness has just begun! (oh and we got three new games in the arcade - Galaxian and Missile Command and a Batman Forever pinball machine!)

05-18-2000The Show Must Go On!

One of the Anime Greats

Every industry has what we call the "greats", the people that made their mark on the industry as a whole. It has come to my attention that we in the Anime Industry have lost a great soul: Roger O'Conner. Roger ran a Web site called Anime Radio. He followed industry trends in anime, gave reviews, interviews, followed conventions, and generally did a great job reporting in letting people listen to his internet radio show. I met Roger at AKON a few years back. He was a nice guy, we talked anime, he interviewed me and we ramabled on and on, heh. He was a good soul. I had great respect for him for I too was and still am an internet radio junkie. We did the same thing, I felt connected. Sadly we've lost him. Roger passed away last week in a car accident at young age of 39. It is my sincerest hope that Anime Radio continues on, Roger would of wanted that to happen. If I can help in any way please contact me. ADV and myself would like to take this moment of "net-time" to pay our respects to one of the greats and say goodbye. Bye Roger.

Dan Rockwell

04-26-2000World of Monsters

Gasaraki

Well it may not be a "World of Monsters" but it does have a lot of mecha to review. Lets face it, our upcoming release of Gasaraki is on tips of everyone's lips. Guaranteed to be another mind bender much like Neon Genesis Evangelion, Gasaraki will blow your mind. Dazzling mecha concepts and good old fashioned Japanese lore mix it to make one heck of a ride. Curious? Well if you haven't seen it you should be. Enough talk here's the data. You like model kits? Starship Modeler has a cool review of the Raiden tactical armor unit from Gasaraki. Reading this review makes me want to get back model kits. Still not convinced? Well then breeze on over to the ever popular EX.ORG site for their take on Gasaraki. Any way you slice it Gasaraki is coming! Coming to a video store near you on VHS and DVD. So get ready!

Looking for a little depth?

If you want clean, refined, 3D entertainment and was afraid you'd have to look elsewhere... FEAR NOT! Remember ADV just recently acquired the rights to ReBoot! That's right the classic computer animation that was FIRST on the scene long before Toy Story ever made it to theaters. Sure Toy Story was neat and all but ReBoot people, REBOOT was there first! We're talking about Mainframe's ReBoot, the 3D computer animated series that is about to hit a video store near you. Did you get that? I said ReBoot! Check it out!

Thank you IGN! Awesome site! Visit it today!

02-18-2000News, glorious news!

Announcements from Katsucon

Washington D.C. - We're on the road again, enjoying the always wonderful hospitality provided by the folks at Katsucon! For those of you that weren't able to attend, or who just missed the ADV panel, what follows is a run down of the acquisition and release announcements made by A.D.Vision this weekend.

First and foremost, ADV is happy to announce the formation of a new release label. This label has been created to allow us to release quality, subtitled video products directly to the fans who want them at an accelerated pace and attractive price structure. This new, fan-oriented label will be named ADV Fansubs. Releases will be available through our Web site and mail order services and convention sales. The first two titles to be released under the ADV Fansubs label will be the City Hunter TV series and Nadia, Secret of Blue Water. Releases for both series will begin in March and will continue at the rate of approximately one volume per month. Each volume will contain four episodes and will be priced at $19.98. Keep an eye on our website for more information.

Next, a quick rundown of titles that we have recently announced: Animated titles including Monster Rancher home video release; Rurouni Kenshin; Shin Getter Robo; Sorcerous Stabber Orphen; and The Samurai. Live action titles include: Dragon Blue; Gamera - Advent of Legion and Gamera vs Irys; Lady Battle Cop; The Hypnotist; Parasite Eve; Pulgasari and Silk & Steel. Now, on to our recent acquisitions.

ADV is proud to announce the addition of the Martian Successor Nadesico theatrical film Prince of Darkness to its already staggering lineup. Look for the release of this phenomenal follow up to the hugely popular TV series shortly after completion of the Nadesico TV series video release.

We are also excited about our acquisition of the ARC the Lad, Chivass (Shibasu 1, 2, 3) and the Melty Lancer series along with the home video release of Power Stone.

And last, but certainly not least, ADV Films has licensed the mind-boggling series that takes parody and pure zaniness to new and dazzling heights, Excel Saga.

The next few months will also see the advent of ADV Music. ADV Music will release soundtracks from a wide range of popular anime titles at the rate of approximately four per month. Releases will consist of USA pressing of existing Japanese soundtracks, as well as soundtracks from ADV's original animation projects such as SiN. Most releases will be priced at $14.00 SRP. The first four releases from ADV Music will be the Akira Symphonic Soundtrack, Macross II OST, Macross Plus OST and Macross Plus OST 2, all available soon.

Jessica's Big Day

Ok I'm breaking down here a bit but I miss Jessica Calvello. Sure I pronounced her name wrong probably a dozen times in our audio interview in the action section but we had a good laugh didn't we? I bet you all miss her too. Her crazy laugh, that wild smile, her odd sense of fashion and that lovely Cutey Honey watch! She's probably Miss ADV 1999 without a doubt. Wahh! I miss her! Fear not however! Although shes in New York pursuing her dream of acting, she came home for the holidays and recorded the lead character, Mink, on Dragon Half. I can't wait to hear that dub! While she was home, David Williams, our web coder extraordinaire got together with her and picked out winners of the ADV Hand Cuffed Contest. While we miss her deeply here in Texas we wish her the best! Jessica sends her kisses and hugs as always (she really is an animated character inside ya know) and wishes you all a Happy New Year!

Reviews Reviews!

Nothing brightens our day more than a good review of one of our films. That, new nerf toys for the office, and new acquisitions. But reviews, oh reviews! I love them! Ok then, lets get to the news.
Starting off with the ever expanding AnimeOnDVD, we find nice DVD reviews for, Battle Angel, Legend of Crystania, Slayers The Motion Picture, Ninja Resurrection, and a nice Region 2 (ie Japanese etc) of Spriggan (which is good because it tells you again how awesome this film is going to be!). Next up, we stumble upon Anime Digest to find reviews for Queen Emeraldas, and Sonic the Hedgehog. Lastly, we find a nice article on Spriggan found on the Anime Craze Web site.
