Primary Numeracy Four

Primary Numeracy FourThis CD is designed to be used by teachers as a resource for the Daily Mathematics Lesson for year 4. The disc contains a range of activities designed to reinforce teaching and encourage practice.

Primary Numeracy Four has four strands:

  • Solving problems
  • Numbers and the number system
  • Measures, shape and space
  • Handling Data

Primary Numeracy Four

Lewis Carroll's classic books, 'Alice in Wonderland', and 'Through the Looking Glass' provide an exciting context for this disc. Fun characters from the texts, including Alice, the White Rabbit and Tweedledum help to guide pupils through the many activities, which are carefully targeted to address Numeracy Framework objectives.

An interactive glossary is included in each title to help pupils with mathematical terms prescribed by the Framework. The glossary uses hyperlinks to provide a greater level of interactivity and ease of use.

Teachers are able to take advantage of a teacher area, which gives them the ability to configure the discs to suit the abilities of their pupils. For example they can turn activities on or off, set the number and difficulty of activities and also track pupils' progress. There is also a dedicated web-site for the series, accessible from the discs, which contains extra activities and links to other useful sites.

A teacher's book containing notes on the effective use of the disc together with photocopiable worksheets is included.
