Sample type from the 42 line Gutenberg Bible -- by Nicholas Fabian.
Typeface of the Gutenberg and Schöeffer
42 Line Bible

42 Line Bible
Type sample from the 42 Line Bible published by Gutenberg and Schöeffer in 1455. There were earlier fonts produced by them including two different fonts used to print Papal Indulgences in 1454 and early 1455. It can be reasonably inferred that the Indulgences and other small projects were the preliminary technological tests before the massive undertaking to print the 42 Line Bible.
