Colorado Buffaloes at Nebraska Cornhuskers
Week 14 Wrap up - Cool as a Cucumber

November 24, 2000
by: Sportvision

The Cornhuskers showed remarkable resiliency in a last-second win Friday over Colorado. Colorado scored with less than a minute, then turned their back on the tie and attempted the two-pointer. After they made it, Eric Crouch and the Huskers had to show the celebration was premature. Crouch coolly marched the Huskers down the field with short sideline passes to set up the game winning field goal. Kicker Josh Brown, 3 for 7 coming in to the game, converted the 29-yarder in front of the jubilant home crowd.

Coaching Points:

  • On the final drive, Crouch played the right sideline like a master.
  • To clear some room, WR John Gibson runs a stop route, holding CB Donald Strickland (4) near the line of scrimmage.
  • Bobby Newcombe (12) slants inside from the slot, then cuts into the space behind Strickland (4) and in front of the safety.
