LittleWhiteDove.JPG (28474 bytes)Little White Dove

Female Bobcat

Date of Birth: 5/19/97

Little White Dove was born at Wildlife On Easy Street to parents Little Feather and The Great Pretender. She was bottle-raised and grew up with a group of cubs, including fellow Bobcat Running Bear, Maverick the Siberian Lynx, and several others. She received a great deal of attention from people as a baby, but now she seems to prefer the company of Running Bear and is shy with visitors. We no longer breed bobcats.

RunningBear.JPG (23414 bytes)Running Bear

Male Bobcat

Date of Birth: 6/2/97

Running Bear was born at Wildlife On Easy Street to parents Precious and Shiloh. He was bottle-raised and spent a lot of time playing with other cubs and humans, yet he does not seem to trust people and prefers to hang out with his companion, Little White Dove.  He has been neutered to prevent any accidental births.   They share a huge naturalistic Cat-A-Tat with lots of trees and vines and things for a busy bobcat to do.

Crazy Horse

Male Northern Bobcat

Date of Birth: 4/17/95

Crazy Horse came to live on Easy Street along with Levi, Two Toes, and eight other Bobcats in June 1995. They had all originally been destined to become part of a fur coat harvest. He was raised in the house and had excellent house manners, but by the time he was taken from the fur farm he had been with his mother too long to ever be sweet to people. He would run and hiss whenever approached. A safe cage was built for him, with Two Toes, Tiger Lilly, and Levi, so that he did not have to be stressed out by constant human contact.  He has been neutered to prevent any accidental births.

Two Toes

Female Bobcat

Date of Birth: 4/24/95

Two Toes came to live at Wildlife On Easy Street along with Levi, Two Toes, and eight other Bobcats in June 1995. She got her name because two of her toes are white.

LittleDove.JPG (19054 bytes)Little Dove

Female Northern Bobcat

Date of Birth: 5/12/93

Little Dove came with the original group of 56. She is a Blue Bobcat and turns silver in the winter. She has never been as trusting as Little Feather or Raindance. Don sold her at one year for $ 900 to a man who then immediately sold her for $ 2,200 to a family who were looking for an affectionate house pet. They later found our information in the carrier and called to tell us that she wasn't happy. She had even run away for a couple of weeks before being found in a neighbor's barn. We had missed her so much that we offered buy her back. She "talked" for an entire week upon her return, as if to relay every detail of her ordeal. She is a little shy with strangers, but very affectionate with her "immediate family".  She now shares a 1200 square foot Cat-A-Tat with her neutered friend, Despurrado.

shilohandsummer.jpg (136840 bytes)Shiloh and Indian Summer

Date of Birth 1989?

Arrived 10/31/96

They had lived together for seven years and never produced kittens so when they arrived here we left them together since they had shared a cage their entire lives.  Their former owner was a cat breeder in Davie, Florida who decided that she wanted to re-do her garden and the cats were in the way.  They have never been friendly to anyone here, but apparently got too friendly with each other and produced a ltter of kittens on 7/24/97.  Catera was the result of that as was an immediate neutering for Shiloh. We no longer breed bobcats

Catera   Male Bobcat DOB 7/24/97

His parents, Shiloh and Indian Summer had been a bonded pair for seven years before coming to live on Easy Street.  They had never reproduced, so we left them together and of course a littler of three resulted in just a few short months.  The mother, on the third day, began killing the kittens and by the time Don and Carole could get to her, two were dead and she was biting the last one on the chest and abdomen.  Carole snatched the bleeding kitten away from her and took it to medicate and bottle raise.   It wasn't long before the Lewis' discovered why the mother had brutally attacked her offspring.  Catera (named for the Cadi that zigs) was obviously brain damaged and from the condition of all three kittens, it was apparent that they had not been nursing although the dam had stayed with them faithfully.  It took hours to feed Catera and every time, it was as if it was the first time for him.  It took him a year to get on to solid foods and again, every meal was like the first he ever had.  If Carole walks out of the room and walks back in ten minutes later, he has forgotten who she was and only through the vocalizations they have shared over and over and over does he again recognize her.  Every day is new and exciting to Catera and he is quite possibly the happiest cat living on Easy Street.  Catera runs incessantly in circles and attacks everyone he can't remember, which is everyone he knows.  He shares a home with Carole and probably always will as he is unable to make such decisions as whether to sleep out in the pouring rain or not.

Cherokee

Female Southern Bobcat

Date of Birth: 9/13/94

Cherokee was purchased at an auction at the age of six weeks. She apparently had never been handled and was very wild. She was raised inside with house cats and has very good house manners, but she is only tolerant of people. She has her very own 900 square foot cat-a-tat!  In this photo, Cherokee is inside her underground den peeking out.

Precious.JPG (76359 bytes)Precious

Female Texas Bobcat

Date of Birth: 11/92  Precious came to Easy Street from an auction when she was about six months old. She is a Texas Bobcat, which is the most dramatically spotted variety. She lived in the house for a while, but she was never house broken and never trusted people. She seems happiest to have people keep their distance and admire her from afar.  She shares a 900 square foot Cat-A-Tat with Shiloh and Indian Summer.

Bobby "Blue" Rose

Female Northern Bobcat

Date of Birth: 5/1/92

Bobby Rose came to Easy Street with the original group of 56 kittens in 1992. She was originally sold to one of our staff, but as part of Wildlife On Easy Street’s buy-back policy, she was returned here on 11/2/94. She kept stalking her owner’s 16-year-old daughter and we did not want her to end up on the downward spiral to misery that too many unwanted cats find themselves on. She has an appetite big enough for two Bobcats!  Maybe she was trying to eat that kid?

Pretender.JPG (102688 bytes)The Great Pretender

Male Texas Bobcat

Date of Birth: 11/92

The Great Pretender came to Wildlife On Easy Street at the same time and as a litter mate to Precious. We named him the Great Pretender because he always pretended to be so "bad" when he was little. Unfortunately, once he was full grown he wasn't just pretending anymore. He loves the Bobcat females and is very gentle with them, but does not care for people much. He was  neutered and now enjoys a comfortable retirement with dear old Elsa.

cleocatrabobcat.jpg (152976 bytes)Cleo-Cat-Tra

Female Northern / Texas Bobcat

Date of Birth: 4/14/96

Cleo-Cat-Tra was born here on Easy Street to Windsong and The Great Pretender. Windsong raised her in the den but allowed Carole to handle her and also help wean her. Unfortunately, Cleo bonded to Carole and no one else and is afraid of strangers.   Here she is emerging from her underground den.  She lives with her twin, Breezy.  We no longer breed bobcats.

Banshee

Male Bobcat

Arrived here 11/13/98

He was a pet rescued by a woman, but when she has business out of the country she asked if she could board him here on Easy Street.  She came and stayed two days with him to make sure that he was comfortable and left him with all his favourite toys.  She cried and cried at the thought of leaving him and assured us she would be back in a couple months.   In September of 1999 she wrote and said that a Bobcat was no longer a feasible pet for her at this time and that she would be leaving Banshee with us until her situation changed.  We went ahead and built him his own 700 square foot Cat-A-Tat and for the first time in his life he was able to climb trees, hide in the bushes and stalk bugs and prey.  She does still send $25.00 per month to his care and writes to inquire about him from time to time which is more than most pet owners do when they leave their animals here.

Angie

Female Southern Bobcat

Date of arrival 1/9/98 from Tim Franz

Angie's owner brought her and two cougars to Easy Street in January of 1998 saying that his county had changed their ordinances on keeping wildlife and asked if we would look after them while he moved and built new cages.  After being here nearly two years, we went ahead and built her a new cat-a-tat and as you can see from the photo she is enjoying her new found freedom.

Sheera

Female Southern Bobcat

Date of Birth: 6/12/95

Sheera is so intimidated by humans that she is kept in an enclosure away from everyone in order to protect her privacy. Her cage is so large and she is so good at hiding that we very rarely see her except at dinner time.

Aztec

Male Southern Bobcat

Date of Birth: 4/1/90

Aztec arrived at Wildlife On Easy Street from Georgia on 12/9/94. He was bought for only $ 100 because he is such an ugly and nasty cat. His enclosure is in a quiet area and he is not disturbed except during feeding and cleaning. He would much rather never see humans. He has been neutered and now lives with Sheera.  His hair is a patchwork of long and short fur, making him always look like a bird in molt.  It was a good thing for him that he didn't make a good pelt.

Elsa

Female Northern Bobcat

Date of Birth: 4/88

Elsa was purchased at an auction in 1992. She originally came from South Dakota, where she had been kept outside in a pen with no shelter from the freezing temperatures. Her ears were so badly frost bitten that they fell off. She appears older than what we were led to believe. She spends her days sleeping and eating in her large, 1200 square foot cat-a-tat with her neutered buddy, The Great Pretender.  In 10/99 she had an abscessed tooth and under anesthesia it was discovered that she only has a couple of teeth left.   She is fed a soft diet and is obviously not going hungry.

Tiger Lilly

Female Northern Bobcat

Date of Birth: 4/30/95

Tiger Lilly came to Easy Street on 6/6/95 along with Selena, Levi, Crazy Horse and the rest. She too was to be slaughtered and her fur used for Trade show competitions. She is somewhat nicer than her pen mates, but she was left with her mother too long to ever trust people. It is possible that she and Divinity were litter mates – they look almost identical.
