Keeper Keep Us

Details

Keeper Keep Us is a track from the 1977 album "Intergalactic Touring Band" by the "Intergalactic Touring Band".

The Intergalactic Touring Band were not however a band in the conventional sense and the tracks on the album were performed by a number of bands and artists. The album is some sort of concept album set in the distant future. The album is a curious mix of music and science fiction. The Intergalactic Touring Band being formed to try and promote good inter planetary relations. More knowledgeable information about the album can be found at the IGTB tribute site.

Meat Loaf sings the final track on the album and as can be seen from the lyrics it is about a mysterious and all-powerful being who protects space travellers on their journeys - a sort of futuristic God? The track itself is, perhaps surprisingly, a pleasant enough little song. It is very different to anything else Meat has done though this comment would probably equally apply to all the other artists appearing on this album.

The album was released on vinyl in 1977 and has never been re-released in any form. It is not therefore surprising that it is difficult to find second hand copies.

Lyrics

Twenty billion miles away
Beyond the doors of time
Watching from a lone celestial tower
There's a man who keeps us sate
Nothing goes unseen
Starry sentinel so far from home

There within his silent world
He sits a timeless throne
And pioneer ships that pass all bless his name
Children sing of legends oh
Across the lanes of space
Stories told about a faceless being

Keeper the man with the key to our destiny
And we've been waiting so long
And we've been waiting so long
And we've been waiting so long
And we've been waiting so long (so long)
And we've been waiting so long (so long)
The man with the key to our destiny
And we've been waiting so long
Keeper
And we've been waiting so long
Keeper
And we've been waiting so long
Keeper
And we've been waiting so long
Keeper
