Here's where you'll find a changing selection of free sounds to download for your Akai samplers. Currently, we are offering samples from our S-Series and MPC sound disk library.

Please note: Akai retains full copyright to all sound samples posted here. The samples are provided to our customers as a demonstration of the Akai sample library and are intended for personal use only. You may not redistribute these sounds in any form.


S-Series Sampler Library Disk
for S1000, compatible with S1000, S2000, S3000, S3000XL, S5000, S6000 series samplers

Here's another S-Series sound set from Akai's extensive library of sounds:

 

1Download and expand the archive

PC users (not NT compatible): download Electric Bass #2 (SL1021) SL1021.zip (986K).

Mac users: download Electric Bass #2 (SL1021) ebass2.hqx (1.2MB).

2Create the sound library disk

PC users: Insert a 3.5" high density PC formatted diskette into your computer's floppy drive. Extract the .exe file from the downloaded ZIP archive. Double click the .exe file and follow the prompt to initiate the copy process.

Mac users: The archive will expand into a folder containing S-Series sampler Programs files and AIFF sample files.

3Load the sounds into your sampler

Choose Import Program or Import Sample on your sampler, selecting files from your newly created sound library download.

MPC Sound Library Disk

Here's another MPC sound set from Akai's extensive library of sounds:

 

1Download and expand the archive

PC users (not NT compatible): download Fat Set (SL6085): SL6085.zip (1MB).

Mac users: download Fat Set (SL6085): FatSet.sit (1.1MB).

2Convert the MPC disk image

PC users: Insert a 3.5" high density PC formatted diskette into your computer's floppy drive. Extract the .exe file from the downloaded ZIP archive. Double click the .exe file and follow the prompt to initiate the copy process.

Macintosh users: Use Apple's Disk Copy utility or a shareware programs such as ShrinkWrap to translate the disk image file. After expanding the .sit archive, you will see a file with a .image extension. First, format a high-density disk in PC format. Then launch the Disk Copy or Shrinkwrap program. Select "Load Image File" and then "Make Copy" from the Disk Copy dialogue box, or choose "Write Image Back To Disk" in the ShrinkWrap program. Insert your PC formatted disk and the program will do the rest!

3Load the sound disk into your MPC

Start your MPC and insert your new sound disk. Choose the Load From Disk function, selecting the file with the ".PGM" extension.

Please note: Although the MPC sample files use the ".SND" filename extension, they are in a proprietary Akai format. In order to convert them to other formats (such as .AIFF or .WAV) you will need to use a translation utility such as MPC3000 Convert, which can be found on the Other Akai Resources page.
