In 1985, Les Blank made a significant career shift: he would finally start
shooting films about things that actually interested him. He began with
Gap-Toothed Women. Blank explains why in Our
Gaps, Our Selves.
remembering the grand poobah
Dale Hempel figured it was time to round up the gappers in his life and
have a little party. In one way or another, nearly 700 people took part.
Hempel has since passed on, but the memory of his International Diastema
Club continues. We talked with Hempel in 1996. Read what he said in Gregarious
