The Virginia Fire and Police Museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the history of Virginia's law enforcement officers and fire fighters, and to educating the citizens of Virginia about fire and life safety.
The Museum works to fulfill this mission through the creation of one of a kind educational programs and through the preservation and exhibition of a large collection of fire and police artifacts.
As a result of the Museum's work it has won numerous awards, including the President's Thousand Points of Light Award, the Governor's Gold Award for Volunteering Excellence, and the Junior Firefighter Excellence Award.
1999 marks the 150th anniversary of Steamer Co. No. 5, the State and National Historic Landmark the Museum is housed in, and the Virginia Fire and Police Museum invites you to help us continue our efforts to Preserve the Past and Protect the Future.
