The 1998 NBA Draft in Vancouver began with the L.A. Clippers' selection of Michael Olowokandi, a 7-1 center from the University of Pacific. It ended with a flurry of trade activity that saw nine veterans and 11 draftees change uniforms.

Tar Heels Traded
A hectic Draft night saw eight trades, including an exchange of North Carolina teammates as Toronto sent the rights to Antawn Jamison to Golden State for the rights to Vince Carter. In addition the Lakers sent All-Star guard Nick Van Exel to Denver for forward Tony Battie and the rights to draftee Tyronn Lue.
