Legendary actor Robert Mitchum made his final expedition on Sunday, courtesy of Fess Parker, Mitchum's longtime friend and the actor famous for playing Davy Crockett. Per Mitchum's request, his ashes were scattered at sea off the coast of Montecito from the deck of Parker's schooner, said Mitchum family spokesman Jerry Roberts. Mitchum died July 1 from complications of emphysema and lung cancer. He was seventy-nine. Mitchum's wife, Dorothy, son, Christopher, and daughter, Petrine, were onboard for the ceremony. A memorial service for Mitchum is in the works, but details are still pending.
