Brother Grifter I remember registering for wedding gifts. One piece of advice: agree with anything she likes, don't make any recommendations...just safer that way.

Bullseye hello mate. Tried to view the pick, but only got big white screen. Hope all is well.

MissMoneyPenny thanks for the vote my friend. I truly appreciate it. So what's the deal with you and James Bond anyway? ;-)

Miss MoneyPenny, hon, it's when the Fifths ARE sick that I need the help!!! When they're healthy, they're usually easier to take care of! Sigh...

I've come to a conclusion...I NEED MINIONS!!!

I think, if I had minions I could survive. Just some sweet, lumpy little hairballs to do my bidding, be at my beck and call, praise and honor me at all times...and the grovelling's a nice little extra, too.

Where are my minions? Why do I not have minions???

Sigh. Life is SO unfair.

Slave2Faith: Never said its primary point was to act in that capacity. It's just they did such a good job of displaying the effects of shock and grief that through the whole ep I kept thinking that it would be perfect for such a purpose... but the vampire attack at the end was jarringly out of sync with the rest of the ep. Not out of place for the show as a whole of course, but I thought unneccessary, and also frankly something that would likely reduce its chances of winning awards significantly.

'stina: "a demon dimension where lawyers rule"... and that is different from western society how exactly? ;-)

Safarigirl: Now, now... don't go feeding the poor Narrator's personal delusions ob elusio mention. She enjoys suffers her personal insanity too much as it is.

Rich 2244: That was another Jossian meant to show Buffy's state of mind. He was simply saying the usual about her not suffering at all, but Buffy was believing that he was lying because... well they do, they can't treat a body so they treat the survivors and sometimes lying about such things is simply to try and make the survivors feel a tiny bit better. Sometimes it is the truth, as far as they know... nobody really knows, we can only estimate how much time they had to suffer before they died.

Sita: That's because it is one of the html commands.

Black holes are where God divided by zero

Safarigirl - Hee! I always suspected Anne Murray had a dark side.

Mr Whyt (who apparently is here) - Ethics are what we fine, upstanding and completely innocent Canadians pretend to have when dealing with the international community.

Aethelaf - That's because we divert the bad weather before it gets here. It's all part of the plan.

Amberlynne - Thank you. *sniff* It's so nice to have my evil wholesome efforts appreciated. *sniffle*
Well that all sounds perfectly nauseating. XF that is, not my sniffling. Although that's probably nauseating too, but I digress. Figures they'd something lame-o like that. I didn't think they could kill him for keeps though - we've still got May sweeps to get through. I watched the opening sequence of Gunmen - it was a rather amusing MI 1 spoof - but then turned it off so I could finally watch The Body. As much as I adore those dear fellows I figure I don't need yet another show to watch.

Divaliving - Hey gurlie!

Diablo ~ This is a reply to an eariler post of your's having to do w/Titanic. Talking about...The last American film which irritated me by showing the English as two dimensional villains is Titanic.
It seemed to be a case of "I shall beat my wife after tea, and then go downstairs and drown the Irish".

Just to clarify, (and please, please, please don't jump on me) Billy Zane's character, Cal Hockly was NOT English. He was from a Philledelphia family who made their fortune in the steel business.

I know this has nothing to do with BtVS or Angel, and I apologize. It was just something I saw while scrolling. I know Titanic isn't everyone's fav film, but I really like it.

Thanks.

To anyone who might be bored enough to read this little thought of an unworthy bezoar:
genrefan mentioned the idea that Giles might be having a wild romance life that we don't know about. this brought me to consider, not anything about romance, but what we don't know about our characters. things we wouldn't ordinarily think of about people we meet in RL. sudafed leaves me without any examples, but...if anyone has a mind twisted enough to catch my meaning, let me know. ::shrug::

Aethelaf: hiyas! Since the primary purpose of Buffy is to tell a story, and not be "a teaching aid for schools," I think the vampire attack at the end was fine. Or it would be, if I had seen the ep. :P Had it been "A Very Special Buffy" or "A Very Special Dawson's Creek" (ew!) I would understand.

clarrie: "Lesbians: Keep Watching the Shoe." ha!

Jeromy, Yummy, Diablo: My favorite Sarah song has to be "Angel." It's gotten me through many a rough time.

Jeromy - "Surfacing" is not bad, but IMHO, it's not Sarah McLachlan's best work. I still think that she reached a peak with "Fumbling...", though I hope she can equal it someday. Funny thing: I all of Sarah's CDs except "Surfacing...", which I only have on tape. Since all the good songs on it are on "Mirrorball", I didn't feel the need to pay 17$ for it. I'll wait until it's on sale at 10$...

Mr. Whyt: Because she is one powerful Canadian Goddess! ;)

Narrator: You had me worried there for a moment. *g* Did you watch Lone Gunmen? I was forced to watch Amy & Isabelle by my Oprah loving roommate. It was okay. A little slow and boring for my tastes but interesting. Unfortunately, probably better than TLG. What? I wasn’t laughing. Sweetness and light. Is that anything like snookems? Ooooo!! I love trouble!

Circe: It is good to be feared. Narrator taught me well! But really, I would never hurt you! ;)

And I'm not like...trying to drag anything on. But this spell those monks did caused the normal life of those of the Hellmouth to kinda go into an alternate reality. So what happens if Dawn disappears? The spell is broken probably. Would life fix itself? COULD Dawn make that happen? I never liked how Joss made Joyce get sick JUST when Dawn arrived because it belayed suspicion that Dawn or the spell is what caused this sudden ill health. So since Dawn is the source of this unknown cosmic power could she fix time? Is that possible? It WOULD let Buffy go through the ordeal of losing her mother and such. What do you think?

Narrator, Leather Jacket, Neonate: Frankly I could have done without the vampire attack at the end since I figured it was unneccessary and destroyed the possibility of this episode to be used as an excellent teaching aid for schools. That said, the show is called "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" so I guess they figured they had to throw something of that in. Plus I figure Joss wanted another "life goes on and the world doesn't stop or even care that your personal world has come crashing down" kick in the teeth.

Narrator: I don't see how Lady of the Lake could possibly send you bad weather from BC. BC doesn't get bad weather.
Now everywhere else in the country otoh...

I understand the protocal if the package says "open here" but what if it says "open somewhere else"?

So true! A wise old spinster once said, " It takes a darn good husband to be better than none. " ( I'm sure the same thing applies to wives)

Chris Dalton:

There's no better film villain ( American or British) than Alan Rickman. He's incredibly sexy regardless, but the British accent doesn't hurt. That guy has incredible range. He was hilarious in Galaxy Quest.

Still working on the earlier quiz, here goes:

1. Sexy Wardrobe BTVS: Buffy
2. Sexy Wardrobe Angel: Cordelia
3. BTVS: amount of sex is probably just enough.
4. Same answer for Angel.
5. Not enough: I have to vote for Giles. Still, he doesn't seem to be a kiss and tell type guy, so there may be more going on behind the scenes than we know of.
6. Next sexy storyline: Well, I'd like to see Giles in an intense romance that actually goes somewhere and allows him some fulfillment.
7. Angel more sensual than Buffy: This season, yes. The Buffy/Riley sex scene in Into the Woods struck me as icky for some reason, but the Angel/Darla ones were very passionate (though wrong, wrong, wrong!).

Okay, I was just wondering...when I was watching the episode where Joyce dies, the doctor's talking to Buffy and Giles and his lips don't sync with what he says. I know that sometimes after they shoot an episode they make a last-minute dialogue change (which is why I didn't bring this up last week), but I can't seem to read the guy's lips. Hey Bronzers.

I'm feeling unusually well but somewhat off today (I think it's my pain pills and starting the new therapy).

But anyhoo, onto more Buffy things.

I don't want to say I'm not a Buffy fan anymore. But I think unless things start getting better to me on the show I'm just gonna watch Angel. I keep wondering if maybe I'm just a big David Greenwalt fan. Or perhaps Angel just has more possibility with less objections for the character. I don't know. Either way, I can keep blabbing what I think is wrong and what I think is right but it won't matter. I'm not going to see Joss anytime soon, he's not going to call me out to LA to give him some feedback. I've just got to watch and maybe I'll like what's in store. If I don't, well there's Angel ready to deliver me some goods.

Although, I say bring Chris Golden onto Buffy's writing staff and give the guy a chief position. I've read the comics forever and they are very well done. He really has a sense of the characters. As much as I'd like Ty King to return...that wish has been so over burnt that it's ash is starting to fly apart in the wind. But oh well. Just need to get this stuff out of my head (plus it helps take my mind off the pain I feel everywhere).

MissMoneypenny darts into the Bronze, breathless and wide eyed. She attempts to slam the door behind her, but as she does, a slimy tentacle from the ruthless whup demon that has held her captive for over a week snakes through the door. Alarmed, MissMoneyPenny grabs a stool from a nearby table. "Back!" she shouts, "Back, I tell you!" Wildly, she beats the whup with the chair until it finally releases its grip on the doorjamb and slithers out into the cold afternoon. Exultant at her near escape, MissMoneyPenny does a little dance of celebration. "That was close." she breathes triumphantly, then looks hopefully around at her fellow Bronzers "Is it too early for tequilla?"

Must scroll…

Hmmmm.... missed out on a lot it seems...

...Ack! Fury and Amber were here... Wow... a really long time ago... Crap.

...Thoin Ever need a sitter for all those Fifths? I'm game! Er... that is, if they're over the flu...

...Amberlynne: Loved, loved, loved! your Seuss-esque poem of the other day. How are those men in the white coats doing, dear?...

...Blade Voted for ya' in the Z104 contest. Good luck! (Don't think you're gonna need it though. You've got winner written all over you.)

...Oooohh! Hey, the pants game! It's the pants game! Never played before, but since I missed out on Calvinball the other day and I'm a sucker for simple pleasures, I'm gonna play too!

Xander: "I don't like pants. I'm gonna take a stand and say they're not good."

Xander: "I laugh in the face of pants. Then I hide until it goes away."

VampBuffy: "Scary. I'll tell you something, though. There are a lot scarier things than pants. And I'm one of them."

Cordelia: "This is all about pants! Pants, pants, pants!"
Xander: "Wow. For once she's right."

Buffy: "Do we really need pants for this?"
Spike: "I just like pants. They make me feel all manly."

hi. welcome to the bronze. you seem a little lost. Many people may not talk directly to you as there is a maximum limit of posts allowed per hour...which is four. You shouldnt post more than four posts an hour or you are breaking the rules.
the best way to get noticed is to read other peoples conversations and try to talk to them about whatever topic they're talking about. many may not even have read your posts. most tend to look for their own name as the board can get very busy.

to hi light names as ive done simply copy and paste this and then replace the XXX with the name of the person you want hilited.

ProzacJones - Good point about the killing off the main characters, and I'm not so sure this Tara/Willow relationship has been explored as much as it could have, thus simply causing it to interupt Willows relationships with the other characters. I thought Willow/Tara were brilliant in Restless, but that seems to be about it for me, other than this, Willow has simply become more withdrawn as a character because of Tara IMHO.

Seska - I hear you. The day I got Sky was a glorious one, as I was freed from the constrictions of the BBC.

Amberlynne - I think when we try to do American accents, we try to do a model one, rather than risk trying a regional one. The problem is, I don't think there is a "model" American accent, just lots of different ones. Thus it ends up sounding nothing like any of them.

Well, got to go and do some work I suppose - been fun ppl.

Bye!

NOTE: The following is not an attempt to get the whole Willow/Tara controversy started again, but just a statement from someone who is sick and tired of people who cannot seem to move on with their lives:

Dear Jess and the "30 friends":

If you stop watching a show just because you don't like who a character is sleeping with, you were never truly a fan. True fans may not like certain story arcs, but they are eager to see what happens next. I don't even feel I need to explain about ignorance and intolerance, but what the hey... You are upset because someone you "know" turned out to be something different than your conception of them, and now you are deciding to shun them. I really hope someone close to you or related to you decides to come out, so you can decide whether this principle applies to you in real life. I truly hope it does not. FICTIONAL FACTS: Willow and Oz broke up. Willow and Xander had a one-time fling. Willow is now in love with another woman. Buffy and Angel broke up. Buffy and Riley broke up. Buffy is currently choosing celibacy as a valid lifestyle. REAL FACTS: Many, if not most, couples break up. Feelings fade over time. Couples do not stay together just because people outside the relationship want them to. And, people who have hitherto been heterosexual and pursued heterosexual relationships sometimes can find themselves attracted to and/or in love with someone of the same sex.

When you take away the occult mythos, you find that Joss is scripting one of the most realistic shows on television; please, get over it and move on.

"He [Xander] has a way of making milk come out of my pants." -- Ampata, "Inca Mummy Girl" (line deleted from original script)

And now, more PANTS

To make you a vampire they have to suck your pants. And then you have to suck their pants. It's like a whole big sucking thing.

I don't like pants. I'm gonna take a stand and say they're not good.

For a hundred years I offered ugly pants to everyone I met, and I did it with a song in my heart.

But it's very plain! Tomorrow night Buffy will face the Pants, and she will die.

Times up. Pants change.

I am getting carried away? nah. Never can have too much pants.

I just thought i'd add to the anti BBC2 theme that seska has made a point of. I agree whole heartedly. If you are on Sky you get to Buffy and Angel one after the other so all the crossovers make sense, because of the fact that BBC2 were out bid by C$ for angel the crossovers don't make a whole lot of sense. BBC2 always takes buffy off air whenever there is a sporting event on or for anything that is slightly irregular, a feeling persecution is apparent i can tell you, ahhh...rant over.

i agree on the Willow thing, the thing being that the show isnt as much fun without the flirting and stuff between the original scooby gang members, the Angel storyline had to cease at some point but the Willow Xander stuff was preetty much limitless. Is the series running out of freshness, probably. I think maybe the characters need to break out a little, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer goes to Austrailia, mmm well its an idea, and sooner or later they are going to kill off one of the main characters it seems to be one of the cornerstones within each series, and another point, SMG is definately thinner in series four than in series one or two. there we go.have fun destroying my points of interest.

Just out of interest, who exactly is Joe the Owl (I know it's you but whats the inspiration behind the name)?

Amberltnne - I wasn't aware that the American accent had changed so much in such a short space of time. Thinking about it though, I expect it is the same over here with some London accents.

"She must have hidden the plans in her pants. Send a squad down there to investigate. See to it personally, commander."

How about this one: "The last time I was evil, they didn't even have pants." (Angel)

Neonate - All I'm saying is that there are other, possibly valid interpretations of the ep besides yours. That doesn't make me an unthinking lackey/minion/worshipper of Joss. Of course, I can't speak for other folks. *g*

Aargh! The dingoes are out today! Finishing up the final paragraph of TV Guide Online's article about "The Body":

Is Joyce really dead? The Internet is abuzz with speculation that Buffy's younger sis (Michelle Trachtenberg) will use her unique powers to resurrect her mother. As it is, at the end of the episode, Dawn was about to place her magical hands on Joyce's cold corpse. "Dawn's special energy will not bring Joyce back," Whedon insists. "Some people thought that at the beginning of the next episode, she was going to touch her and heal her with her Dawn powers. I'm like, 'People! Missing the point!'" So, Joyce's never-seen boyfriend isn't part of some big conspiracy? "There is no mystery to the date," says Whedon, who points out that the idea to leave Buffy and Dawn motherless was conceived years ago, and adds that "if you brought her back, it would have to be extremely earned, and there would have to be a good reason for it."

(Thu Mar 8 10:01:22 2001 63.29.185.67)
From TV Guide online:

Death Becomes Buffy

Emmy voters, take note — this could save you a lot of time and trouble. Last week's haunting episode of the WB's Buffy the Vampire Slayer in which the Scooby gang mourned the sudden death of Buffy's mother Joyce (Kristine Sutherland) instantly earned a place alongside ER's "Love's Labor Lost" and Jimmy Smits's harrowing swan song on NYPD Blue as one of the finest hours of television ever produced. Written and directed with paralyzing intensity by series creator Joss Whedon, the bold installment chronicled the four hours following Joyce's passing and featured wrenching performances from the show's underrated cast, led by The Chosen One herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar. Heightening the emotion was the fact that, unlike watershed episodes of other shows, this one was delivered without any good ol' fashioned Hollywood hype, and thus caught practically everyone off guard. "There was a lot of integrity in this," notes TV Guide critic Matt Roush, "not just in how it played, but in how it wasn't oversold." Of course, true to Buffy tradition, the installment left viewers with a plethora of unanswered questions. And to help fill in the blanks, TV Guide Online called on the brainchild behind the one-hour masterpiece, Whedon himself.

A never-before-seen flashback of Joyce hosting a holiday celebration for Buffy, Dawn and friends kicked off the episode. Shot from no one's particular point of view, the joyous scene stood in stark contrast to the rest of the morbid hour. What was its purpose? Buffy diehards expecting some kind of profound explanation are in for a disappointment. "I wanted to get the credits over with," says Whedon. "I knew that I had to have opening credits, and I knew that there was no way in God's green Earth that I was going to put them over the 911 sequence, so I thought, 'Well, I've got to have a scene.'" Eyeing an opportunity to remind viewers how beloved Joyce was, the scribe decided to insert the Christmas-themed gathering. Plus, he adds, "It gave me a really great transition from happy to dead."

Giving new meaning to the phrase silent but deadly, the episode contained nary a musical chord. Although we have a good idea what that was about, we figured we'd ask anyway. "Music would have been too easy," Whedon confesses. "It would let things out... it would [tell you] to feel sad. I wanted to not have that safety net. And where there is no safety net, there is nothing that is going to keep people [in the moment] unless they really care."

Why wasn't Willow (Alyson Hannigan) and Tara's (Amber Benson) overdue smooch promoted ad nauseum like last season's same-gender buss (or should we say bust?) on Dawson's Creek? "They are basically living together so they're probably already kissing. [Therefore,] to make a big deal of the kiss would have been totally wrong," says Whedon, who adds that he waited for just the right moment to script the liplock. "It belongs somewhere where you least expect it, where it is completely organic and you breeze by it." Well, WB execs did anything but. In fact, the suits asked Whedon to cut the kiss — a request he flatly refused. "The WB sort of balked, but they got over it really quickly," he says. "I was like, 'The kiss is in, or I'm walkin'.' But not in the sense of, 'Let's get into a fight,' [but] actually to avert one... Just to say there is no middle ground here. This belongs in the show... There was one discussion and there was only one." A WB rep responds: "We had questions [about the kiss], but after reviewing the final cut, we chose to air it."

The brutal realism of the episode was interrupted by a jarring vampire slaying in the final act. Why? "I stayed away from unnatural things as much as possible," Whedon admits. "I didn't have Glory (Clare Kramer) or even Spike (James Marsters) in the episode because I wanted everything to be very real. But because the show is Buffy, vampires are a part of that world. So I wanted to have the vampire fight, but put it in the context of this occasion, because life is still going on... things are intruding. [There's a] feeling that this tragedy has occurred, and the world is supposed to stop."

Neonate, Leather Jacket - I am also of the opinion that the vampire at the end of the episode wasn't necessary, because there were enough other indications that "life goes on". However, I can't quibble much with the writer's decision that the point needed to be made there. It's his call. BTW, Joss discussed that scene at www.tvguide.com.

For Leatherjacket: Gee, and we're so lucky Dawn just happened to be in the morgue then. Otherwise we wouldn't have gotten to see it.
Hey, why not just stake every dead body in the morgue prophylactically. That's save Buffy a lot of time. And make for a dull show, I suppose.
Sometimes bad writing is its own excuse, so I can leave it at that.
Of course, if vamps do often rise in the morgue, who do you think they'd go after first? Well, nurses, of course, they're the most abundant people around in a hospital. Maybe that's the root of the nursing shortage. And I always thought it was the low pay and bad working conditions.
Thanks.

Probably not, considering I assumed she was an English lass.

Lisa H.’s Quiz

1.)Name your favorite Buffy episode from Season 1 and Why ? The Pack. It has to be one of the creepiest eps ever and I love Nicholas Brendon’s performance.

2.)Name your favorite Buffy episode from Season 2 and Why? Passion. Not one of but the creepiest episode ever. David is brilliantly psycho and ASH breaks my heart every time. That story arc is my favorite so far.

3.)Name your favorite Buffy episode from Season 3 and Why ? The Prom. I could have picked either of the alternative reality episodes or the wonderful return of Spike but The Prom is probably one of my favorite stand-alone episodes. I loved Buffy’s classmates finally acknowledging her and her dance with Angel at the end always gets to me.

4.)Name your favorite Buffy episode from Season 4 and Why ? Something Blue. I have to admit I haven’t seen all the episodes. (Hey, the person who let me borrow her tapes couldn’t fit S4 in the box she sent!) I just like SB because of the interaction between Spike and Buffy.

5.)Name your favorite Buffy episode from the current Season 5 and Why ? Fool for Love. Spike’s origins! Yay! James Marsters is so amazing in this episode. I am very glad it is next on the repeat list.

6.)Name your favorite Angel Episode from Season 1 and Why ? I Will Remember You. I think it is pretty obvious why a B/A shipper like myself would choose that episode. ;)

7.)Name your favorite Angel episode so far from this current Season 2 and Why ?. Epiphany. I. Hate. Darla! So I loved that she got dissed. And I missed semi-smiling Angel. Followed closely by -mere-‘s episodes, of course! ;)

8.) Name your favorite Chris Beck score from Buffy and Angel. Close Your Eyes. The love theme. *sniff*

Hello all things of Bronze.

Well I've been running around putting out fires in the metaphorical sense, but popped in here for a brief perusal.

The weather up here has been wonderfully warm lately. We've actually had temperature numbers without minuses in front of them for one or two days and today it's only -5º s or so for the high. Didn't even need to plug the car in most of this week.

Speaking of weather, I hear that some of our U.S. neighbours have been (or are supposed to be getting) Canadian type weather lately. That must be a bit of a shock. Do you guys even own snow shovels? ;-)

Please note that we don't really need to experience any hurricanes, and we do occasionally get tornadoes, so there's no need to return the favour by sending any particular weather of interest up here, honest.

Unless it's some sunny weather in the plus 20's. That I'll take.

deadguy : Um … yeah.

Leather Jacket dips Yummy in the Fount of Employment and hands Yummy a towel and an after-bath sample kit.

Neonate : I have explained why the vampire rising in the morgue was organic to the plot. You have merely (not -mere-ly stated that it isn't. We're done.
Okay, guess we're not done. Writers can and do make mistakes, however just because you don't like something or didn't want something doesn't mean that a writer made a mistake.
A vamp doesn't sit around waiting to rise. It rises when the "making" process is complete (when the demon wakes up).

MENSAGirl : The dead one.

Julie Urquhart : Because the maintainers of this site are a bit slow when it comes to updating the episode guide.

TO THE WRITERS!

Dear Writers, ever since Willow beacame a lesbian, I haven't even liked watching the show at all!
Personal oppinon, and the oppinon of tons of my friends is that Willow and Xander should hook back up, and so should Buffy and Angel.
There both like matches made in heaven!
I really hope they can get back together!

Thanx!

Jess and about 30 friends!

Amberlynne - yes, she is, but I think she played an American in Titanic (?), I just wondered how her accent sounded to Americans in terms of authenticity etc.- LOL! at the pants quote BTW, was it you who did those Shakespeare ones?

ProzacJones & Chris Dalton - Threaten Hollywood how? I don't think our actors are going to take over the world for us *g*
As for Hollywood poking its nose in - I think many good films have come from Hollywood about troubles in the rest of the world - Schindlers list, Patriot Games for example.
I have no problem with Braveheart, as we were only villainised for dramatic effect, and I think it was historically accurate.
I haven't seen the Patriot.
I had more of a problem with films like U-571 because it was inncorrect. I shall, however, abandon this topic now for fear of being construed as anti-hollywood.

"No, you can't tell me that wasn't pants. I've been doing this for 400 years, and before that I did it professionally. I know what I'm doing, and that was pants!" - Darla, Reprise

"No, I'm not okay. You hurt my pants." - Cordelia, Epiphany

"...and then I was forced to listen for two hours to agressively cheerful music sung by pants chosen for their dancing ability..." - Giles, I Was Made For Loving You

"Pants scare me." - Anya, Fear Itself.

"I like the pants." - Xander, The Zeppo

"Look on the bright side, Lindsey. I could have smashed the other one. But I had some pants." - Angel, Epiphany

"The way I see it, when the big Apocalypse or whatever comes down, I want to be on the side with the pants." - Lindsey, season one finale

we don't mind our actors being villians (see Gary Oldman In Dracula was fantastic... also see Spike... Hopkins ... particularly Alan Rickman) if its becuase of their acting skill, but often its because theyre british. Also Hollywood pokes its nose into issues it doesn't understand... (See Braveheart, The Patriot, Michael Collins) but on the whole I do love America and its TV shows (Simpsons BVTS Angel) and not to forget SPinal Tap.

That was like kinda like British.

I also think that James marsters does a bloody good job of portraying an english accent, i coudlnt tell he's american. Of course he does english the ****ney way, whereas tony Head speaks bbc english and is english, bbc english is harder to mimic. I got told Faith was dead, this isnt true is it?

More PANTS!

Sometimes I think about two women doing pants... and then I do pants by myself.

You're not pants. You'll never be pants. You'll be in love till it kills you both. You'll fight, and you'll shag, and you'll hate each other till it makes you quiver, but you'll never be pants.

They speak to us... guide us... Pants rule us all. And we obey. What other choice do we have?

Neonate -

The vampire wasn't just hanging around deciding when to sit up. He sat up as soon as he rose, and Dawn just happened to be there.

Metaphoryish about Buffy never getting cut a break, but so what? Vampires rise all over Sunnydale all the time. Most of them seem to be second rate, or third rate, even. Why do existing vamps even bother to sire these wimpy vamps?

The vamp happening to rise when Dawn was there didn't bother me.

Buffy not even trying to kill Harmony bothered me much more.

Good Morning all, lovin' the quotage!

RSO to Amberlynne, Diablo, Hollyn, Frodo, Roman Around & janni

The Bronzer Sex Survey

1. BtVS character with the sexiest wardrobe? character you wish it were?

Tara and Willow (heck they pretty much share it these days). And I'm quite happy with them being the sexist.

2. Angel character with the sexiest wardrobe? character you wish it were?
Dru, but she's not a regular so Cordy. I wouldn't mind seeing Kate in a few more dresses, although its not realy her.

3. BtVS and sex?
a. too much
b. not enough
c. right proportion - at the moment.

4. Angel (the show) and sex?
a. too much
b. not enough
c. right proportion No need for it at the moment.

5. Which B/A regular character is not getting enough (let's eliminate Dawn as an answer)?
Well, if we're going by what we see I'd say Willow and Tara, those two are practically celibate!

6. What will be the next storyline involving sex?
a. Cordy makes computer-geek guy her love-slave
b. Angel seduces Lilah (she's evil, why not?)
c. Buffy and the Buffybot
d. none of these are serious answers, come up with an outrageous answer of your own, but keep it family-board.

Not very good at outrageous answers... but I do think we'll be seeing some Cordy action soon, she needs a storyline although sex probably isn't a good one.

7. Even though, IMHO, there is more sex on and off screen on BtVS, I find the show Angel to be more sensual and sexual.
a. agree
b. disagree I just find AtS scary as hell!
c. you're a genius and humble
d. you're a flaming idiot

What did you think of Kate Winslet's attempt in Titanic (I thought the film was a bit lame - but it doesn't stop her being good).

THX - Hey! How's your day going?

Chris Dalton - Buffy does have a positive attitude with it's English characters being IMHO, some of the best (e.g. Spike), regardless of the actors nationality.
The last American film which irritated me by showing the English as two dimensional villains is Titanic.
It seemed to be a case of "I shall beat my wife after tea, and then go downstairs and drown the Irish". Thankfully it is a trend which is fast fading from hollywood.
On the flip side, it may be because British actors such as Anthony Hopkins, Alan Rickman and Jeromy Irons did such good jobs playing bad guys.

^

Neonate says:

Let me add this, as a nurse. Grief is a process that you must take the time to work through, otherwise you risk serious psychological repercussions. Buffy's friends understood this, one of their first thoughts was that they should take over patrolling. They understand her need to get out of the slayer role, to take time to deal with her own personal care.
Sometimes life is bigger than our job. Also bigger than a TV show, no matter how entertaining.

Yes and no. On the one hand, she has a lot of responsibility but little control over her job - a surefire recipe for stress. On the other, she does get to beat the unliving daylights out of things, so she is able to release her agression and stuff. I'd think, these days, that her life is much more stressful than her job, what with having a sudden sister and all.

janni: Because you are having a bad day, I promise not to whine about the blinded smackdown you just perpetrated. *SMOOOCH* Come sit on the SGc and tell Miss Amber all about it, hmmm?

Grifter: *gasp* I could never forget about you! grins and does a few lash bats

THX: I’ll remember that! *L* Well, it is Circe’s thing. I am just reposting it for her since my job, while sucky, allows me to play on the internet all day long. *g* Maybe we could do both, yes? Maybe those on the Chris Beck Cameo Committee have something else planned. I dunno.

Yummy Nice foop! Good morning! I am glad to see you survived your drive yesterday. ;)

Circe: First of all, yes, I did steal the tag that screwed up your link. But! I make up for all the tag stealing by reposting for you. *g* See?!? Stalkers can be helpful. *smooch*

Jennifer M. Eiffert Burgos: Welcome to the Bronze! While the official site is a wonderful place to start, let me recommend some other sites to try if you want to catch up on Buffy lore. You can start by searching for all your BtVS & Angel related links at The Buffy Search or The Buffy Guide. Both include searchable link databases and The Buffy Guide has detailed episode recaps as does The Scooby Gang, where you can also learn more about the interesting writers that bring us such wonderful dialogue every week. Also, if you want to read more “intellectual” writings about the Buffyverse, try Slayage, the International Journal of Buffy Studies. At least, those are the sites I visit to feed my addiction. I hope they help!

*blush* well, thanks to deadguy and all who shouted to me. You guys are the greatest!

As to deadguy's QOD, lemme see, Buffy, high stress job? Well, yeah! I think the only reason Buffy hasn't fallen to PTSS is that she's always IN stress, so there is no "post-stress" for her. I think it's a tribute to her inner strength, and the scoobies who ground her and keep her strong. That's likely what did in the Slayers before her. No support group except for their Watcher.

To those who have answered my earlier post, thanks. Can't say I agree, but you have provided new insights to think about. The doc was in doing the autopsy for quite some time, if you are a vamp waiting to rise why not do it then. But Dawn goes in and hardly a minute later poof, he rises. That is pandering. Unless there is some connection to the vampire targeting Dawn, or the key, but that element was not built into the plot.
I am a writer, so thanks to whoever it was who elavated me and my humble brethren to godhead.

Juilliet Landau (yeah, she's "Murican" too)

However, some UK people have played American roles (very well):

Michael Caine also does a good American accent

Neonate2 Besides, it kept Dawn away from Joyce’s body long enough so she didn’t touch it and revive her or something. This gives us a lot of time for speculation: does Dawn (the Key) have the power of life and death, will she re-animate Joyce if she can, is Joyce truly dead? Without the interruption, we would already know the answer to those and many other questions.

1. BtVS character with the sexiest wardrobe?, Have to agree with Mia - Glory character you wish it were? Xander

2. Angel character with the sexiest wardrobe? Angel character you wish it were? Gunn could be allowed to come in a close second. *g*

3. BtVS and sex? A, see answer to # 7

4. Angel (the show) and sex? C

5. Which B/A regular character is not getting enough (let's eliminate Dawn as an answer)? Lindsay

6. What will be the next storyline involving sex?
d. Would be nice to see some consequences non-demon involved.
Anya getting pregnant would certainly add an interesting twist.

7. Even though, IMHO, there is more sex on and off screen on BtVS, I find the show Angel to be more sensual and sexual. A - in fact, the less it is shown, the more sensual it becomes.

valMichael: While, I agree that the vamp rose in the morgue for that exact reason, I can understand why some viewers did object to it. I think that we do already know that there is no stopping of Buffy's slayer duties and no stopping of evil's bad timing. *g* We have also seen Buffy show some weakness in fighting when there is emotional attachments. Therefore, I think those who didn't like that part, could have seen one time in which Buffy didn't have to have the Slayer side of her on duty. As one poster said, it broke the realness of the episode. And I understand that that was the point, to remind us that the underworld doesn't stop for Buffy to grieve. I just think there could have been something slightly different than what was done - still trying to figure out what. *g*

Mornin', all... RSO's to Diablo, greeneyes, Frodo and Morella!

neonate - I had to think hard about the vamp in the morgue... yes, it did break up the tension of the morgue scene. But I still think it was a good move.

Wouldn't you agree that a main strength of BTVS is that it uses fantasy to highlight real-life concerns? For instance the Dawn storyline is partly intended to illustrate the difficulties of an adopted, foster or step-child being integrated into a family.

To me the morgue vampire was a metaphor for a couple of things:

1) One friend of mine who lost a brother suddenly became irrationally afraid for the rest of her family... she thought they might suddenly die too... just as Buffy felt about Dawn.

2) Life goes on. Buffy's mission has not been suspended because of her mother's death. However unfair and terrible it is, she can't forget she has to be on guard against the monsters. And she has to protect Dawn/the Key. And for heaven's sake, things do happen out of the blue... usually at the worst possible time. To cite a real-life example, another friend whose father had been sick for a long time found out the day after he died that the mortgage on the family home was behind... he had to go and straighten it out with the lender on the same day as his father's funeral to prevent his mother from being suddenly homeless and penniless.

Buffy will have to grow into a new role, as you say, but there'll be time for that. Why would you expect it to happen in one ep?

Now, when you say that putting the vampire in there was "pandering" I assume you mean it was pandering to viewers who want to see Buffy fight a monster every week. Well, there have been other episodes in which Buffy didn't fight a monster, so that's a dubious assertion. You may still think that the vampire didn't work as a device, but why assume it was done for such a crass reason?

Carl: Yeah that Grosse Pointe ep was the pinnacle of western civilization.*g* But it does show people that you cannot necessarily tell who is gay and who is not. The owl is starting to digress... This owl has been a lifelong bachelor and some people have murmured the "g" word. But the truth is that I enjoy being single. I travel where and when I want. I do not have to worry about dirty diapers or child care. If I wanna buy something, I don't worry if the wife will scream that I wasted $5 and how could I cuz the kids need new shoes? If I wanna be in pajamas all weekend great. If I want a pizza at 11 pm, great. The question of sex will come up but since this is a bezoar free board this far (JINX), just lemme say that single people get plenty of sex and that the owl usually waits til the 3rd date before spending the night with ms. owl (which makes the owl a conservative*g*) Gee Carl, you never know what you will start. Here at the bronze.

I did enjoy Sara's appearance on Grosse Pointe though I am not really sure about the show's longterm following. Lot's of jokes poking fun about the entertainment industry, but will the family in Omaha wanna watch it?*g*

The Bronzer Sex Survey - even though it's a sex survey, it's only rated PG

1. BtVS character with the sexiest wardrobe? Glory character you wish it were? Andy..opps wrong show. Ummm Willow

2. Angel character with the sexiest wardrobe? "The Host" character you wish it were? Andy...*addicted?? nope not me*

3. BtVS and sex? C

4. Angel (the show) and sex? B More with "The Host" *he he...see above*

5. Which B/A regular character is not getting enough. Spike/"The Host"

6. What will be the next storyline involving sex? On a serious note, I like Gunn & Cordy. :)

7. Even though, IMHO, there is more sex on and off screen on BtVS, I find the show Angel to be more sensual and sexual. C You are indeed a genious. :)

RTBS be-bops into the Bronze for a quick hello and cup of joe before re-engaging the whup-@$$ that plagues him so. Britney Spears is, as always, right behind him but this morning she’s carrying several boxes of delicious Girl Scout Cookies! (No, they’re not made from REAL Girl Scouts because I asked the nice young lass who sold me a dozen boxes yesterday). Britney hands Ruffy another box and sets the rest down to jump on stage for today’s Bronze Cheer.

deadguy> Wow. Look at everyone giving such short, succinct answers. I suppose Buffy does have some stress associated with being the Slayer, but at least she has an outlet. She can dust vamps and kick the crap out of demons and other forces of darkness when she gets stressed. I’ve got Dreamcast (no laughing dammit!) and a punching bag. Somehow it just isn’t the same. Especially when that uncontrollable urge to stake my sleestack hits.

Speaking of yays, the folling is an important message from the lovely Circe:

SAVE THE SCORE!

THE MUSICAL SCORE CD FOR BTVS WILL NOT BE RELEASED! UNLESS…

Do you love the Buffy/Angel love theme, "Close Your Eyes"? Did you sob through Jenny's theme from Passion, Buffy's Class Protector award and the B/A breakup in The Prom? Did the music in Becoming break your heart? Or was it Angel's poisoning and his final goodbye in Graduation Day, or maybe B/A strolling through the "magic snow" in Amends? Did the Willow/Oz theme bring a tear to your eye? Were you looking forward to hearing music from the 4th season: Hush, Restless, and This Year's Girl/Who are You?

Then WRITE!

After promising Chris Beck's score CD for Buffy the Vampire Slayer for over TWO YEARS, and after Sony Records had agreed to produce it, Fox postponed the release indefinitely. Unless Fox is convinced there's a market/fan interest in the score CD, it WILL NOT be released.

Let Fox know you're interested in the score CD! Address your letter to Geoff Bywater at the address below. Please be polite and business-like, no insults please, that won't get us anywhere. Tell Mr. Bywater how much you love Chris Beck's (Emmy-winning!) music, and how patiently you've waited for this score CD to be released. Urge him to go forward with Sony or another record label immediately.

IMPORTANT: Put "cc: Robert Kraft" at the bottom of your letter, then copy it and send the copy to:

Tell all your friends to write, tell everyone on any Buffy mailing list or usenet you belong to. We CAN make a difference here. And please don't think your one letter won't matter. If the last presidential campaign proved anything, it's that EVERY vote (or letter) counts.

Let Fox know that Buffy fans know what they want and WILL ALWAYS be vocal about it! The future of the score CD is in our hands.

Thanks!

Roll up Roll up, and play PANTS!

All you gotta do is take a quote from BTVS, and substitute a key word with PANTS, hilarity ensues :)

For example -

Xander:
"Man, Buffy! My whole life just flashed before my eyes. I gotta get me
pants!"

Doyle:
"it's a shame we'll never find out if these were pants you could've learned to love..."

I just wanna give a big Hello to Perchewit (plus Chocolate for you....:), Dust'em, Seska, TB, Dirty Socks, TLC Even though I don't know if you're actually here or not...

Neonate Do you really think that the awakening of the vampire in the morgue was just out of the blue? I surely don’t. I thought it made perfect sense, given what as occurring during the episode. Consider how it fits in with the rest of the episode. All episode long we were focused on the pain and suffering caused by Joyce’s death. What the rising of the vampires says is that there is always another threat arising, no matter what terrible things happen in our lives. Living on the Hellmouth, Buffy doesn’t even have time to grieve properly when her mother dies, not even for an instant. She can’t ever let her guard down or someone else will die, this time her sister. It is the normal activity for the slayer in Joss’ world. It will never stop, and she’ll never be free just to break down and really cry like anyone else because of this. You saw how difficult it was for her to fight the vampire while she was still in shock. I think that’s one of the reasons that the council has slayers live and fight in secret. Emotional ties can slow you down when you most can’t pay them any attention. As far as a corpse in the morgue being there long enough to rise, we have absolutely no idea when he was bitten, anyway.

Your objection yesterday to a vamp rising in the morgue was based on a misunderstanding on how vamps are made in Joss’ Buffyverse. Vampires don’t need earth or need to be buried to rise. We’ve had plenty of examples: The “pork ‘n beans” vamp in NKABOTFD at the mortuary, Teresa in the coffin during viewing hours in Phases, the watcher’s council guy Kralick vamped in Helpless (the quickest of the bunch to rise as kralick had it down to a science on his timing), Jesse, in WTTH. All of these died and rose within 8 to 24 hours, depending. According to Kralick, it’s how much blood you suck out of the victim that is the key as to how long it will take for them to arise, the less blood removed (beyond a certain minimum), the faster they arise.

1. BtVS character with the sexiest wardrobe? character you wish it were?

2. Angel character with the sexiest wardrobe? character you wish it were? Gotta be Angel's raincoat, I mean, c'mon, even Cordy and Doyle noticed: "Okay, now I'm a little turned on..." Cordy: "I don't believe it! He wears the raincoat for one day and he gets some!"

3. BtVS and sex? d) I hate the way all that storytelling interrupts the intercourse...

4. Angel (the show) and sex? d) So it's not really sex unless you're all broody and depressed afterward?

5. Which B/A regular character is not getting enough (let's eliminate Dawn as an answer)? Are you including audience members? (Raises Hand) Has Cordy done the wild thing since the demon-preggers episode? And what has Giles been doing since Olivia blew town again? Hey, C/G, hmmm...

6. What will be the next storyline involving sex?
a. Cordy makes computer-geek guy her love-slave
b. Angel seduces Lilah (she's evil, why not?)
c. Buffy and the Buffybot
d. none of these are serious answers, come up with an outrageous answer of your own, but keep it family-board
e) Willow uses her computer skills to take over the Buffybot for a wild three-way...

7. Even though, IMHO, there is more sex on and off screen on BtVS, I find the show Angel to be more sensual and
sexual.

KAM on Grosse Pointe the story was SMG wanted to kiss Marcy(played by Lindsey Sloane) on the tv show in hopes of earning an EMMY because she was never getting one on Buffy. But Marcy mistakenly believes Sarah is bisexual, or homosexual, due to SMG's flattering comments to Marcy. While leaving a bar, Marcy holds Sarah and kisses her. SMG then tells Marcy the demand for a girl/girl kiss was to earn an EMMY. WE soon learn SMG drops out of the appearance because of what Marcy did.

KAM : The WB has been fairly lenient considering the type of content they've allowed for what they probably still perceive as being a show geared towards teens, but I agree that they really don't know what the hell they've got on their hands. That "New Tuesday" promotion makes no sense whatsoever, and even though I can't resist them, they should avoid those previews for the following week's episode other than to inform us that it would be a new one. We shouldn't have even known that Angel would get his own series until right after "Graduation Day" aired. There was just no suspense at the end about Angel leaving Sunnydale cause we already knew well before then that he would. They just think hype is all that matters.

In regards to the W/T kiss scene in "The Body", I think it merely illustrated how loss brings people closer together. It was a matter of time before the audience would see how intimate Willow and Tara have become. And I think it's perfectly okay. They are two people who are in a mature, beautiful and loving relationship who just happen to both be women. Let's not make a federal issue out of it.
