Wow! What a bee-yoo-tee-ful day for riding mountain bikes. As you might see from the pics, clear blue skies greeted us this morning as we gathered in the parking lot.

Amy Nitrate, Penny, Slartibartfast, Mike (aka Beatnik), Gary (aka Parkmeister), Fast Ed, Johnny Freeride, Paul (aka Fourarmcrank) and myself (aka Jerkwad, Hearing Aid Boy, and a whole slew of other derogatory monikers) set out to conquer the myriad of trails atop this pimple of a mountain near Fairfield, CA. As you'll see from a few of the pics, it's getting smaller, as development encroaches on the park.

The day was fairly uneventful, aside from 2 broken chains, a couple of flats (check the insides of the tire before you put the new toobs in!), and what could have been an ugly endo by Slarts on the manzanita/rocky section from aich-e-doubletoothpicks. Luckily, Penny broke his fall, and he walked away with only a little blood. Actually, Paul was the winner of the dork-wreck of the day. At the end of the ride, I was trying to goad Fast Ed & JFR into doing a double jump off a concrete slab for a photo op. They both declined, feeling that the landing was a little uncertain (read: they were chicken-sheeyot) and they didn't want to tempt fate. However, Paul decided to do it, and as we watched in horror, he landed badly and wrecked spectacularly, knocking the wind out of him and getting his new bike dirty. He's going to be a bit stiff tonight! Sadly, I didn't get a shot of his wreck, but here are some of the shots I did get. Hope you like 'em.

For those of you interested, I'll be posting the rest of the shots at this address sometime soon. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=892978&a=9898982

This shot is of Paul, jumping off a rather large boulder. I laid down and clicked him jumping over me.
