Pokémon of the Day
Brace yourself – here's the first Pokémon of the Day that isn't among the original 151.
November 5, 1999
Every day we'll pick a Pokémon to be IGNpocket's Pokémon of the Day. Maybe it'll be from the existing games, maybe it'll be from the future Pokémon Gold and Silver titles that will hit the shelves in Japan this month – you'll just have to stop back and find out.
Once you learn all about this Pokémon, head on over to our Contest page where you must answer one question about this Pokémon. Get the answer right, and you'll be entered to win the Pokémon prize of that day. But to win, you'll have to register – it's a painless process, and well worth the three minutes of your time.
Now, on to today's Pokémon of the Day:
Okay, folks, let's get this on the record: THIS IS NOT PIKABLU. In fact, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS PIKABLU.This was a huge misconception months ago when the creature hit Japanese shelves last year during the Pokémon Movie. A big rumor was spread in the US that you could turn Pikachu into Pikablu in Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Sorry, folks, this creature's name is Marill. And other than being a mouse, he isn't directly related to Pikachu.
Marill made its debut in the US Wednesday, November 10 in Pokémon: The First Movie. It's a water elemental mouse, that's really cute and really round, and it makes its game debut in Pokémon Gold and Silver.
Now take this information over to our Pokémon Contest page, get the answer right, and sit back -- you may win yourself a few cool Pokémon toys.
If you haven't registered, get your butt over to our Registration page and put all the pertinent information so you get in on the goods.
