• What's the most current version of NR?   Version 2.08. More...
• Can I really download the whole C (or Fortran) book for free?   You can, but we hope that after sampling a few sections you will want to buy the book! (This is the condition under which CUP allows the books to be on-line.)
• Why can't I also download the programs for free?   Software license fees support our continuing work on NR. Unbundling (selling the software separately from the book) helps keep down the price of the book.
• Are the NR routines source code? or an object library?   Source code, in standard ANSI/ISO C or Fortran. You get exactly the routines printed in the books. Our on-line downloads are machine-specific simply because the installation/unpacking program must be able to run on your machine.
• Can I distribute NR routines with my application?   Bound "invisibly" into your executable .exe file? Generally yes.   As source code, linkable object libraries, or DLLs? Sorry, no.   Details...
• Is NR available in other computer languages?   While C and Fortran (both 77 and 90) are the supported languages for the 2nd edition of NR, 1st edition versions are still available in other languages.
