SportPlanet GBA Preview

SportPlanet has posted a new preview for the GameBoy Advance version of THPS2! The handheld port of the game seems to be the best launch title and is lifting an eyebrow or two. Again, you might want to pre-order the GBA if you still can, and even better yet, check out the SportPlanet Preview!

Of course, all the known info and pics on this title can be found in our Upcoming Releases Pages.

More Tutorials!

Since this morning, I've formatted a couple new tutorials for the THPS 2 PC page. This update includes today's PotD, which is How to put holes through your characters. Also in this late update is how to import characters from other THPS engine based games.

Both tutorials written by sairuk, who has finished all the FAQs for the pages. I've just got to format the remaining ones!

New PC Tutorial

sairuk has updated the THPS 2 PC Section! We've got most of the Hex Editors and Unpackers/Repackers linked up finally. There's a good FAQ on Changing the vehicles in the game, which includes the bull. Fun stuff! There's also a link to Dex Drive Protocol Info.

We've got a number of other ones coming too, I know I have at least 4 more to format! Soon!

Ok....that wasn't real

I figured this would be pretty obvious, the first THPS 3 screen just happened to show up on a Sunday, April Fools...I'm sure many of you caught my little weekend fun. Though, I don't doubt that some of you were a bit surprised. In any event, it's all in good fun. This screen here was made w/ 3DMax, by sairuk, and more like it can be found here. He's actually looking for work if anyone wants to feed him. Just drop him a line. You've got to admit, whether you believed it or not, that it looks excellent!
Skate Street Air Glitch

Submitted by Nick Chan we've found another interesting glitch. This is pretty easy to recreate and I've gotten stuck for a good 10 seconds once, just floating there! This can be found in the Fun Glitches page, with a PC Replay Save to go along with it! Very cool stuff!

First THPS 3 Screen!

Bogus THPS 3 Screen From an unnamed source with access to the beta that will be appearing in next month's EGM we have the first screen of THPS3! Wow! This is a snap of the park editor in action.

Read all the details!

Mac THPS 2 Coming Soon!

According to Westlake Interactive, this game is in the final beta testing stages and should ship in a few weeks! Wow...I didn't know it was so close!

Being published by Aspyr Media, we'll have all the details here as they surface. For now, all info can be found in the THPS 2 Upcoming Releases Page.

GBA Shipment Decreased

Not major news here, but it's been pasted on all the sites the past few days. Nintendo has cut the shipment of the GameBoy Advance in half from what we know, and now there's only going to be 500,000 systems coming out on June 11th. What does this mean? Well, if you're looking to get a copy of THPS for it when it launches, you might want to consider plopping a few bucks down now and pre-ordering. I know I haven't...and I don't know how we plan on covering that game here on the pages. Anyways, just watch out...the handheld has a good amount of quality launch titles it seems, and I wouldn't be surprised if we have problems getting our hands on it.
Odd PotD!

To conclude the odd day...

The past 2 days we've shown off some of the Instructions of what's been done in our weird Pics of the Day. Yesterday was the Muska Monster...which is...well, we really don't know what it is! Today's selection is the Long Armed guy, and as you can see, he's got a long arm! They're both very easy to do on the PC version of THPS2 and a bit of fun as well.

Odd Handplant Glitch Replay Save

Bobby sent in a very odd glitch replay for the PSX (THPS 2). It's some sort of handplant glitch that well, I can't really describe it! He did a handplant and then it kept bringing him back to that position, even after he skated away. Like I said, it's odd! Glad to get a PSX save! It's among the other THPS 2 PSX Saves. Thanks a lot Bobby!

THPS 3 in May issue of EGM

Our old pal James Light has informed us that next month's EGM will feature an article on THPS 3 much like they did last year for the 2nd game. I wouldn't be surprised if we get our first peek at screens then, so sit tight for another 30! Any additional info would be great, and if I don't get it first, someone send scans in! This is what we've been waiting for!

30 until our first screens, and then another 30 or so until E3, where the real fun begins. It looks like we've got out West Coast / E3 correspondent with us again, so if all goes well, expect better THPS coverage than all the other sites! So psyched!

Thanks Folks!

With the latest relaunch, there's been a number of minor broken links and whatnot on the pages. We're trying to clear these up ASAP, and don't anticipate another redesign, so this is it...We wanted to say thanks to everyone who has sent in info about these problems and encourage you to do so if you encounter any more! It's difficult covering everything, so we really do appreciate your assistance!

Mod Central: New Park Editor Theme!

Our fantastic hosted site Mod Central got a cool update the other day, but with all the runaround, I didn't get to announcing it! Better late than never, they've got a new Park Editor Theme, which brings their total up to 3. This is a weird one, called Cold Space. Take a peek, pretty interesting stuff! All this and much more over at Mod Central.

Weekly Sales Charts: March 7th - 14th

This past week's Sales Charts have been posted. THPS 2 is still the best selling game on the PSX, and the N64 was bumped out of the top 10. 6 of the top 10 games were on the PS2, and not one PS One game made it. Times are a-changin'.

New GBA THPS 2 Details!

Wow...the new pics of THPS2 for the GameBoy Advance are pretty spectacular. Some industry folks have gotten their hands on a playable version and most say that this game is going to rock! All the stages from THPS2, 300 poly characters, 60 FPS...wow!

So, we've created another little section devoted to THPS2 GBA, where all links, screens and info can be found. June 11th is still the release date.

THPSO becomes PTH

I know what you might be thinking..."Didn't the site just undergo a redesign?" Yes, but this was the plan all along. When we designed THPSO, it was with a Planet site in mind. We knew this was coming, we just weren't sure when.

So, why another design? The old one was pretty cool. Well, this is a step up for us. The site is growing each day and judging by the amount of individual sections on the site, it's getting a little out of hand. Over 200 individual pages make up PTH now, and you can be sure that when THPS 3 finally comes out, that number will increase very quickly. When the site was begun, it was just covering the basics. In order to succeed with this site you've got to cover it all. And with so many new systems and versions of the game, that means organization.

Joining the ranks of the other Planet sites is an exciting accomplishment. PTH is the first console-based Planet site, and I know that I never could have dreamed of the site looking this good. With all the GameSpy resources available to us, we now look and navigate better than ever! We've been working hard on the conversion for a few weeks now, and I'm proud to finally launch.

That brings us to where we are. What else has changed? The main addition is an enormous, and still growing THPS 2 PC Section. This was the largest aspect missing from THPSO and with the help of Sairuk and the guys at Mod Central, we've got it covered. There's plenty of interesting things in the PC Pages, so take a peek. On top of that, we've got a New Forum (which is awesome!), expanded beta and demo sections and the beginnings of a comprehensive Skater Profile section.

With all that we wanted to accomplish for the relaunch, we realized that there was no way to do it. On the horizon are some big articles, interviews, more beta coverage, and of course the news about all the upcoming games. Speaking of, the Upcoming Releases Pages have been expanded and here's where all news will be posted. All versions of THPS 2 (N64, GBA, Mac, 2.5 and 2X) will appear here, as well as any info/screens/movies/news/etc. about THPS 3.

So much more has been changed. The best way to find it all is to just look around. Some areas have remained the same for the most part, while others have been reorganized and restructured. Enjoy your stay and let us know if you have any comments, ideas or criticisms. Thanks!

First THPS 2 GameBoy Advance Screen!

Here's the first screen of THPS 2 for the GameBoy Advance! Very interesting stuff, it looks infinitely better than the GBC versions on the market, I'm quite surprised! The image is from IGN Pocket. (Article link here) The game is set for a June 11th release. All current and future info can be found in the Upcoming Releases page!

Odd PC Replay

Art Dyer has provided a new PC Glitch Replay. This one is odd and confirms some rumors that I've heard recently. What happens here is that visually, you're skating in the Downtown level from the first game, while physically it's the School. This looks very odd, but is worth the small download...very interesting.

Massive 4 million point combo!

Jed's Videos posted a new combo vid, an enormous 4 million point combo in Philly. Wow...Definitely worth a peek, as are all the rest!

N64 THPS 2 Confirmed

Not that we didn't know about this 2 months ago, it's now official. Activision have just announced that the N64 port would be handled by Edge of Reality and is set for a late summer release.

Late summer? Looks like N64 fans will be getting their THPS 2 fix mere weeks before we see a far superior THPS 2X with THPS 3 right around the corner. Oh well...it never really made sense for them to cancel it in the first place. Sales would have been so much better had they released the game 6 months ago. Instead it'll be software that tries to keep the system alive with the Gamecube coming out shortly afterwards.

All info regarding this release can be found in the Upcoming Releases page!
