Finals Results
1999 Blake (Berthiaume & Zhang) over Edina (Puram & Gill)
The final round never actually occurred. Edina resigned because Sam Gill had to go to some lame dance or something.1998 St. Thomas Academy (Phillips & Gamradt) over Sioux Falls Roosevelf (Ausland & Wilson)
Even though SID! covered for him, we all knew.
The 1995 Little Nationals was a bit of a disappointment, since the first date was snowed out, and we had a one day tournament with four rounds instead, the week after Blake. We had 32 teams, and when each team arrived, they would flip for a place on the bracket, and first round determined if you went to the winners side or the consolation side of the bracket. It was kind of lame, but we were looking for1994 Roseville (Thimpsen & Kamath) over Forest Lake (Kloster & Sichenader)
something creative to do. I had a pair of freshman that year (Miklya and Topp), who won their first two rounds, and thus, were quarterfinalists. So, not to rip on the finalists too much, but there should definitely be an asterisk by that tournament.
- Conrad Anderson
According to Conrad Anderson, this is the only case of a sixteenth seed team going on to win the tournament.1991 Brookfield Central (Heling & ?) over Roseville (Kumar & Pederson)
I have a strong recollection that in 1987 Brookfield Central (Groombridge/Wasson) lost to Watertown (Jon Hanson and ?), because people were saying at the time that it was the first Little Nats final contested between two non-Minnesota teams (whether this was true, I can't say). Hanson took a speaker award at Nats that year.1986 Brookfield Central (Groombridge & ?) over Brainerd
- Patrick SmithAccording to DDR, the final round was a 2-1, with three former SSP debaters on the panel.
