The objective of the Meeting is to address the most essential problems
which nations around the world are facing entering the Third Millennium,
and to discuss the joint efforts for the paths through. The following
issues are planning to be discussed:
- Retrospective of the Global Challenges of the XX Century
- Global Challenges of the XXI Century
- Prospects for International Cooperation
- Merging of the National Millennium Projects
- Data Exchange on Millennium Anniversary
- Interconfessional Dialogue
- Y2K Problem, etc.
The Meeting is going to be attended by the President of the RF
(Honorable Chairman of the Russian Organizing Committee), Prime Minister of the
RF (Cochairman), Patriarch of Moscow and Russia (Cochairman-chairman),the
Head of the Administration of the President of the RF, and other top Russian
officials. The Meeting will host delegations of policy-makers and experts,
scientists, economists, ecologists, philosophers, culturologists, as well as
religious delegations. It will be broadcast over all territory of Russia
during prime time.
One of the Committees-2000 projects, in cooperation with The Arlington
Institute endorsed by the Administration of the President of the RF and
sponsored by the World Bank, is "Y2K Public Awareness and Preparedness
Campaign in Russia."
