#1. First K1FO 70 cm EME array 1984-1985, 8 x RIW-1 9 Yagis, it wasn't the best array but it got me on 70 cm EME and made made 80 initials in 15 months operation.

#2. First upgrade - now 12 x RIW-19's, added 1.7 dB gain, what a difference! Up for one year (October 1985 to 1986) 40 more initials were added.

#3. Third array, but the first real "K1FO" array, 12 x 22 element Yagis. Theoretically only 1 dB more gain, but what an improvement on receive! (>2 dB more sun noise) Used for 3 years (October 1986 to 1989) it brought the initial count to 218.

#4. Fourth try, polarity mis-alighnment finally overcome. The 16 x 14 element rear-mount Yagis were sacrafice in gain but QSO's are oh so easy now. Up for 2 years, October 1989 - 1991 my initial count rose to 321.

#5. The missing array (no photograph). The 14 element Yagis were upgraded to 15 element Yagis (still 16 yagis) with an improved match. 44 more initials were added in the one year this array was up.

#6. Fighting it out in the big league. The array was completely redesigned and rebuilt to24xl5 elernent K1FO rearmountYagis. 1.7 timese the size and gain but 10 times the mechanical problems. Errected in October 1992 this array is still in use. My initial count is now 550 and rising, It also helped me be the top scoring North American 70 cm station in the ARRL EME Competition for 4 straight years.

#7. Bigger is almost always better. NC1I put up an array double the K1FO array! 48 x 15 element K1FO rear-mount Yagis makes for a big signal on 70 cm.
