Is the Latin balance shifting?

Deportivo La Coruña's impressive draw against Milan AC as the second group stage of this season's UEFA Champions League drew to a close confirmed that the reigning Spanish champions have arrived at European football's high table.

Deportivo send Milan crashing
Deportivo La Coruña progressed to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League at the expense of Milan AC after a 1-1 draw at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. A Djalminha penalty gave Deportivo a 74th minute lead, Milan got on level terms with an Andriy Shevchenko spot-kick 12 minutes later but it was too little too late.

Milan in must win situation against Deportivo
Last week’s defeat away to Galatasaray SK put Milan AC’s chances of making it through to the final of the UEFA Champions League, to be staged in their own Giuseppe Meazza stadium, in a none-too-promising light. However they have home advantage on Tuesday as they seek the win over Deportivo La Coruña which will give them a quarter-final place
