Timothy B. (Brooks) Craven is my gggrandfather - Was Born about 1832 in Chatham Co. Died July 1901. Father - Peter Craven Mother Mary ____ Randolph Co. Married Sophia Litaker 1/7/1852, had 3 children, Daniel Monroe Craven (Moved to Tx), William Adam Craven m. Maggie Douglas & Timothy (his father) are buried at Shiloh Methodist Church Cem., Concord NC, and Nancy E. married George Irvin. Timothy married Rebecca Isenhour 10/16/1884 and had two children. I have lots of other Info. Benjamin B. Irvin and W. S. Isenhour are buried at Coddle Creek ARP Church,. --- Working on placing Timothy with the right Peter and Mary Craven in Randolph --

Soldier: John Daniel Little
Unit: Company F, 57th North Carolina Infantry
In looking at your list of Confederate soldiers from Cabarrus
County, I notice that my great-great grandfather, John Daniel
Little, is not mentioned. John Daniel Little, husband of Leah
Carriker Little, and son of Daniel Little and Mary Harkey, served
in Company F, 57th North Carolina Infantry. I have contacted the
National Archives and obtained documentation that he was admitted
to St. Charles Hospital in Richmond, Virginia on October 5, 1862
and died October 9, 1862. However, I have been unable to locate
his place of burial. I have contacted the North Carolina State
Archives to see what information that could be obtained there,
but to date have not received a response.

I have information on Moses Jacob McGraw........born about 1844
in Cabarrus Co. NC, married Nancy Cheney in 1863, parents were
James McGraw and Barbara Friesland, sorry don't know date of
death. I have this information from the Records from North
Carolina Troopers McGraw, Jacob, Moses, Private Born in Cabarrus
County where he resided as a farmer prior to enlisting in
Cabarrus County at age 18. July 11, 1861 for the war. Present or
accounted for until wounded in the ankle at Fredericksburg,
Virginia, December 13, 1862. Reported absent wounded or absent
without leave until detailed for light duty at Henderson in
January-February, 1864. Rejoined the company in March-April 1864
and present or accounted for through October, 1864. Paroled at
Farmville, Virginia, April 11, 1865.

Confederate Company F, 57th NC Regiment
Comments: George Lewis Moody was the son of John Moody and
Mary McAlpin Moody of Gold Hill, Rowan County. He married Sarah
Black, daugher of Ezekial C. Black and Martha Gilliam of Cabarrus
County, and they lived in Cabarrus County before the war. After
the war they moved to Charlotte and raised a large family there.

Soldier: Amzi (Amze) VANDERBURG (1822 - after 1870)
Confederate Company A 33rd Infantry
Comments: Amzi was the oldest son of Francis Vanderburg
and Elizabeth Perry. He enlisted 6 Dec 1861, was captured at
Fredericksburg, VA 13 Dec 1662; exchanged on or about 17 Dec 1862.
Wounded in head and neck and captured at Chancellorsville, VA 3
May 1863. Confined to Old Capitol Prison, Washington DC. Released
on or about 13 December 1863 after taking the Oath of Allegiance.

leg at Fredericksburg, Va., Dec 3, 1862. Returned to duty in Mar-May
1863. Reported present in May-Oct,1863. Captured at Rappahannock
Station, Va. and confined at Point Lookout, Maryland, Nov 11,
1863. Paroled at Point Lookout on Feb 24, 1865. Received at Aiken's
Landing, James River, Va., Feb 25-28 or Mar 2-3, 1865 for
exchange. W. H. Clay was married to Sarah D. Robison and the son
of Isham and Elizabeth Ford Clay.

Soldier: William Rinehardt (1832 - 3 May 1863)
Confederate Co. B, 7th NC Inf Regt.
Comments: William Rinehardt was born cir 1832. His parents
are unknown. He married Elizabeth Hagler in Cabarrus Co. NC on 29
Mar 1856. Elizabeth was the daughter of Charles Hagler and Sarah
Linker. William & Elizabeth had two children, Mary (b. cir
1857) & Alice (b. Jul 1860) before he enlisted in the
Confederate Army. A third child, William M. Rinehart (b. 1862)
was born after William enlisted. William was wounded at the
Battle of Gaines Mill, VA on 27 Jun 1862, but returned to duty
and was KIA at the Battle of Chancellorsville on 3 May 1863. The
Rinehart children were living with their Hagler grandparents in
1870 and Alice's marriage license in 1878 (she married Alfred
Blackwelder) stated that both her mother and father were deceased.

Soldier: William David Rinehardt (15 Jun 1845 - 7 Mar 1937)
Confederate Co. E, 59th NC Cavalry, 4th NC Regt.
Comments: William David Rinehart was born in Cabarrus Co.
NC, the son of Paul R. Rinehardt and Catherine Dry. He served
with the Confederate Army, Co. E, 59th NC Cavalry, 4th NC Regt.
He was captured at Petersburg, VA on 23 Jul 1964 and imprisoned
until after the war ended. After the war he traveled to Arkansas
where he met and married Lucinda Dingler, the daughter of William
Dingler and Phoebe Hays. W. D. and Lucinda had two children in
Arkansas but moved back to Cabarrus Co. in the early 1870's.
After returning to NC, eleven more children were born. William
lived on Dutch Buffalo Creek near his parents, but later moved to
the Gold Hill area of Cabarrus Co. and finally to Stanly County.
He died in Stanly County in 1937. William and Lucinda are buried
beside his parents at Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetary, Mt.
Pleasant, NC.

Comments: Thomas Steadman Rinehardt was born in Cabarrus
Co. NC, the son of Mathias Rinehardt and Patsy Motley. Patsy
Motley was the grand-daughter of John Reed of Reed Gold Mine.
Thomas served in the Confederate Army with Co. E, 59th NC Cavalry,
4th NC Regt. After the War, he returned to Cabarrus Co. and
married Ida Caroline Moser, the daughter of Thmothy &
Margaret Moser. T. S. and Ida resided in the Cold Springs
community in Cabarrus County and they had ten known children.
Thomas' homeplace still stands on Cold Springs Road. Thomas died
in Cabarrus Co. in 1930. He and Ida are buried at Cold Springs
Methodist Cemetary, Cabarrus Co. NC.

Soldier: Michael Caleb Rinehardt (14 Mar 1843 - 14 Mar 1926)
Confederate Co. H, 8th NC Inf. Regt & Co. B. 20th NC Inf.
Regt.
Comments: Michael Caleb Rinehart was the son of Paul R.
Rinehardt and Mary Ann Ritchie. He was raised in the household of
Isaac Moose in Cabarrus Co. NC. M. C. first enlisted in Co. H, 8th
NC Regt. in 1861 but was discharged in 1862. He then enlisted
with Co. B, 20th NC Regt in Mar 1862 and was severely wounded at
the Battle of Gaines Mill, VA on 27 Jun 1862. As a result of his
wounds, M. C. was discharged from the service, but he recovered
sufficiently enough to re-enlist with Co. H, 8th NC Regt. in Oct
1963. He was captured at the Battle of Cold Harbor, VA on 1 Jun
1864 and remained in prison until the war ended. After the war he
returned to Cabarrus Co. where he married Elizabeth Matilda Dry,
the daughter of Abraham Dry and Mary Harkey. M. C. worked as a
blacksmith in Mt. Pleasant NC until around 1870 when he moved to
Rockwell in Rowan Co. NC. M. C. died in Cabarrus Co. on 14 Mar
1926. He is buried at Organ Lutheran Cemetary, Rowan Co. NC.

Comments: Caleb Michael Rinehardt was the son of
Christopher Rinehardt and Catherine Heathcock. He served with the

Rangers." He died of unknown causes in Lynchburg, VA on 7
Mar 1862.

Comments: Allison Furr was the son of Tobias Furr and
Sophia Boger. He married Clementine Rinehardt in Cabarrus Co. NC
on 21 Apr 1860. Clementine was the daughter of Mathias Rinehardt
and Patsy Motley. Allison served with the Confederate Army, Co. B,
7th NC Inf Regt. He was captured at the Battle of Gettysburg in
1863 and was confined at the Federal Prison at Point Lookout, MD
where he died on 6 Jan 1864.

Soldier: John B. Heathcock (1814 - 1883)
Confederate Co.B, 7th NC Inf Regt.
Comments: John B. Heathcock was the son of Levi Heathcock.
He served in the Confederate Army in Co. B, 7th NC Inf Regt. He
was wounded in the leg at the Battle of Fredricksburg in 1862 but
was available for duty in 1863. After the War he returned to
Cabarrus Co. NC and married Mary Ann Rinehardt, the daughter of
Mathias Rinehardt and Patsy Motley. John and Mary Ann had three
known children, George F. Heathcock, Cora Heathcock, and Harry
Heathcock.

Comments: His father was Philander Alexander, the son of
Hezekiah Alexander. His mother was Frances Cunningham Harris. On
18 Feb. 1851 he married Jane Rebecca Martin. They had three
children. He was a 1st Lieutenant. "He was born in
Mecklenburg Co. and resided in Cabarrus co. where he was by
occupation a farmer prior to enlisting at age 33. Appointed 2nd
Lt. to rank on May 16, 1861 and promoted to 1st Lt.on June 30
1862. Wounded in the leg at Fraysers Farm, VA, June 30 1862 and
leg amputated. Died at Richmond, VA July 5 1862 of wounds."

Soldier: Thomas A. Fleming (10 Oct. 1829 - 10 Jan. 1900)
Confederate 52nd Regiment - Company A
Comments: His parents were William Fleming and Jane
Woodsides Fleming. His wife was Margaret E. Oehler. He enlisted
14 May 1862 in Concord NC at the age of 32. He was wounded at the
Battle of Gettysburg, PA, 1 July 1863. He was captured at Falling
Waters, MD 14 July 1863 and sent to Point Lookout MD from Old
Capital Prison 9 Aug. 1863. He was exchanged on 3 Mar. 1864. He
was admitted to CSA Hospital, Camp Winder, Richmond,VA on 23 Aug.
1864, with typhoid. Furloughed 9 Dec. 1864 to Concord, NC for 60
days.

Soldier: Thomas S. Rodgers (1840 - Lost in Battle)
Confederate 7th NC Infantry - Company H
Comments: His parents were Seth Kincaid Rodgers and
Elizabeth Amanda Steel Rodgers. He was never married. He enlisted
in Harrisburg NC by John McKempie Wilson Alexander on 5 Aug. 1861.
He was a farmer. His unit was called "Rocky River MInute Men".
He was lost in the battle of Chancellorsville, VA, 3 May 1863. A
marker in his memory is in Coddle Creek ARP Church Cemetery in
Iredell Co. NC where he was a member.
