8 Saudi students flogged for attacking teachers
RIYADH: Eight Saudi high school students have been flogged in public for beating up a group of teachers and seriously injuring one, The Arab News reported.
The students from Abdul Aziz bin Marwan Secondary School in Thamd, 130 kilometres, north of Medina, assaulted the teachers who had reportedly described one of the students as "uncivilised," the daily said.
Medina's governor Prince Muqrin bin Abdul Aziz ordered the immediate arrest of the students and said "security officials mete out deterrent punishment."
"Flogging is a corrective deterrent aimed at curbing the aggressive attitude of students," the prince said. (AFP)
