Lucha TV Report for March 6th, 2001

EMLL-

(From Arena Coliseo) El Signo, Blue Panther, Fuerza Guerrera vs Brazo de Oro, Olimpico, Hijo del Lizmark

Primera Caida- This is the return of El Signo to EMLL TV, he’s an old-school rudo with repute for lots of cool submission holds, and I have been told he invented La Neblina. Unfortunately he shows none of that here, the rudos get the jump on before the bell and win in short order. Panther and Fuerza double hiptoss Olimpico, then Panther puts Fuerza on his shoulders and throws him down in  splash to Olimpico.

Segunda Caida- More rudo dominated offense, until Hijo del Lizmark counters a corner whip with a superkick. The tecnicos then clear the ring to lots of cheers.  Brazo de Oro does some armdrags and quebradoras before tagging out to Olimpico, who goes on offense with flying headscissors and stuff.  Fuerza and Signo both spill over the ropes to the floor, then Hijo del Lizmark enters the ring with a moonsault bodyblock to El Blue, and as Blue gets up Olimpico  hits him with a huracanrana for the pin.

Tercera Caida- Panther and Olimpico start the fall off for their teams,  but Olimpico quickly tags out to Lizmark Jr. Panther knocks him down with a two handed chop but is suprised as the tecnico breakdances to his feet and hits a superkick taking him out. Now Signo and Brazo de Oro tag in, and Signo applies a few stretches before Fuerza enters the ring and hits his "punt" on Oro for him.  However Fuerza tags back out before making a pinfall cover.  Oro gets a nearfall on a sunset flip out of the corner, and then a small package, and finally a huracanrana is able to pin Signo. Panther quickly takes him out of the match though, with a nice tope suicida.  Hijo de Lizmark and Olimpico now double team Fuerza, finally Lizmark takes Fuerza out of the ring with a big pescado dive. Panther then takes off as if for a dive, but Olimpico shoulder butts him in the chest as Blue hits the ropes, then does a sunset flip for two… no Blue rolls over and holds the ropes for leverage…. One two three!!! The crowd, which was hot all throughout the match, then goes apeshit and starts screaming at the ref for missing the call, Olimpico is equally as angry and challenges for a mask vs mask match, but Panther does not respond.

[full point] The first good Coliseo match of the year. This had tons of heat and really solid work, it flowed really well as a good lucha match should and the finish was great. This match supposedly went over real well so they did it again the following week, and then later at Arena Mexico.

(Arena Mexico) Black Warrior, Ultimo Guerrero, Satanico vs. Juventud Guerrera, Brazo del Plata, Negro Casas

Primera Caida- BLACK WARRIOR AND ULTIMO GUERRERO ON ONE TEAM. With the possibility of fighting Juventud Guerrera too! Unfortunately, in the skit before this Black Warrior pledged his allegiance to Satanico in fighting the new Infernales, so you can see how this match will be going. In fact, about one second after the bell Ultimo starts shoving his teamates. I guess this is all that went on because they edit the match to the finish,  where Casas lifts the Black Warrior onto his shoulders and Juventud then clotheslines him off for the pinfall. Guerrero was also pinned with a Super Porky splash off the turnbuckles.

Segunda Caida- Ultimo continues to brawl with his partners, who team up on him and throw him back into the ring. Guerrero after more yelling at Satanico slaps on a choke on Casas who has to break it with a jawbreaker. Caas then goes off the ropes but Guerrero kicks him in the chest on the way back, then hits a powerbomb and leaves the ring to taunt the crowd and his teamates.  Porky buttbumps Satanico, then Black and Juventud have a short awesome exchange where Juvy counters a wheelbarrow suplex into a bulldog. Now Guerrero goes nuts and starts beating the crap out of his teamyes, then starts no-selling Juventuds chops and Casas kicks, he even gave Casas an STO(legsweep slam), but the three-on-one is too much for him as Porky bellybumps him and then all three tecnicos hit sentons for the pinfall. After the match Casas and Co. leave the ring, so that Satanico  and Black can pound on Guerrero and even rip off his mask.

[.75] This was actually kind of entertaining, even if it had little or no wrestling. A Black Warrior/Satanico vs. Bucanero/Guerrero tag match would be very nice indeed.

Momentos Estelares

Nuetron with a ringpost moonsault to the floor.

Super Porky with a bronco buster

Volador Jr. with a **perfect** asai moonsault, so perfect they actually showed it both times in slow-mo.

Virus hits an armdrag on Ricky Marvin then rolls over with it into an armlock.

Los Infernales hit Casas with a powerbomb, then double diving headbutts.

Perro Aguayo, Atlantis, Rayo de Jalisco vs Dr Wagner, Atlantis, Universo 2000- As you can see from the pic Wagner had on his awesome Muta gear to the ring. This match was unfortunately another crappy Perro match, no wrestling at all. Perro pins Universo with la lanza and that’s that.

AAA(From Orizaba, Ver.)-

Reinas de Reinas- This year it had a different format. Instead of four four-way-dances with the winner of each fighting in a final four-way match for the crown, they simply had a 14-lady battle royal and the last four remaining got to fight for the title. I didn’t tape the Battle Royal unfortunately, but you know how those things go. The final four was…

Tiffany vs. Miss Janeth vs. Lady Apache vs. Alda Moreno(For the Reinas de Reinas)- The rudas decide to join force early, using a few double teams to their advantage, however a mistimed corner whip sends the rudas crashing into each other and then to the floor, where both Lady Apache and Alda hit sillas. The rudas stay on control though, giving Lady Apache a double hiptoss slam and then a double flying wheelkick. Janeth tries to hit this move to both tecnicas at once but it proves foolish as she moves and nails her own partner.    Tiffany and Alda nows have a quick trading of counter holds, finally Alda hits a dropkick sending her out for a sommersault dive through the ropes. Now Apache syatys armdragging Janeth around, and finally sends her out with la segadora.  Tiffany and Alda then go back at it, however Alda gets caught climbing the ropes, and then hit with an Iconoclasm for a close two count. Lady Apache breaks up a second pinfall attempt, gives Tiffany an airplane spin and then applies ‘la de caballo  and gets her to submit.  Alda and Janeth  then go at it, Alda hits a casita, spinning huracanrana and a reverse cradle all for very close two counts. She then tries to repeat the spinning huracanrana and gets NAILED with a thunderous powerbomb from Miss Janeth that scores the eliminating three count.  Either Lady Apache or Miss Janeth will be the Queen of Queens.

Lady Apache goes on the attack early, making Janeth take a salida over the ropes and then hitting a plancha to the floor. Both women make the count but Janeth is the quicker to her feet as she hits a dropkick and then a northen lights suplex for two. A flying clothesline gets another two count.  Shoulder mount suplex gets a fairly close nearfall. Now she goes for the big move, a top rope splash mountain, but still Lady Apache is able to kick out!  Lady Apache slings over the ropes as Janeth sends her into the corner, then climbs up top and hits a flying sunset flip for a two count. La Tapitia into a bridging pinfall gets a very close nearfall. Janeth somehow gets to her feet and tries a missile dropkick, but Apache steps back, then grabs her legs and uses la campana(Pendulum hold) and the ruda has no choice but to submit, we have a new Reina de Reinas!!!!

[full point] Superb match. Tons of nearfalls and good moves, plus quick, solid work. And most of fucking all, the refs managed to stay the hell out of it, for once.

[Cage Match] Abismo Negro vs. Cibernetico(Reyes de Reyes vs. Champion of Champions)-  Really boring shit, Cibernetico and Abismo did very little. Both guys tease leaving the cage, the crowd can care less. Psicosis would throw chairs into the ring for Ciber to use, if you can call it that since Ciber didn’t even try and swing hard with them. Mascara Segrada tries to make the save but the Vipers overrun him and cuff him to the posts.  Tirantes and son run in, Segrada gets free and starts using the chairs to take out the Vipers, but he mistimes a swing and knocks Abismo out with the chair, allowing Cibernetico an easy escape. Afterwards Abismo is pissed and turns on Segrada and gives him a beatdown.

[zero] This was a load of junk, though if it gets Abismo rudo again I will be happy.

Overall(1.75 EMLL, 1.0 AAA)- Well both shows featured a good or really good match so that’s a plus, but the same problems still remain. AAA’s main eventers suck, as do EMLL’s. This was actually a good block of lucha though so I am happy.
