    Huskers on solid ground
Since the final days of the Nixon administration, the Nebraska Cornhuskers are 182-5 when they run for at least 300 yards in a game. Make that 183-5. Oh, and that's 105 wins in a row, by the way, when the Huskers top 300 yards on the ground.

    Wildcats run into reality
The Northwestern Wildcats have learned how to get invited to bowl games again. Now all they need to do is figure out how to win them. The Wildcats have been to three bowls - the Rose, the Citrus and the Alamo - since 1996, only to lose each time.

    Color me Alamo Bowl
So purple and red don't mix? You wouldn't have known it from the streets of San Antonio on Saturday, when every back was clad in one color or the other.
