CANADA QUALIFIES FOR WORLDS WITH WILD CARD BERTH.
The Canadian Men can now start to get over the 3rd place at the Pan American Championships. Third sucks but fourth would be very painful today, the Americas are the first alternate for the Worlds Championships and rightly so when 9 European teams will make the trip to Japan.
The historic win over Cuba, (9-8 Canada), now becomes even more meaningful making the difference between 3rd and fourth about 15000km ( the approximate difference between N America and Japan).
At the National Training Centre, in Calgary, training has been going well but the motivation was coming from deep inside some of the athletes who saw the next competition so far away. Now the focus will be increased, as the World Championships are just 3 months away!!!
Canada will have a young talented group with as many as 7-9 having their first World Championships experience.
Final Team selection for the event will take place at the Canadian Senior Men's Nationals Calgary June 10 2001.

MEN'S TEAM WILL COMPETE IN WORLD'S 2001 IN JAPAN
Coach John Csikos once again emphasized the importance of their recent
win over Cuba at the World Qualifications, where the team finished 3rd to USA
and Brazil. This placing has qualified Canada to be the first team
approached to fill the vacant spot at the upcoming 2001 World Aquatic
Championships, July 17-29 in Japan. Coach Csikos stated that this would be a
huge boost for the training atmosphere at the National Training Centre in
