Antivirus family DrWeb32
These programs are representatives of the new 32-bit generation of antivirus scanner Doctor Web (or DrWeb). This new generation (DrWeb32) includes programs for Windows 95/98/NT, DOS/386, OS/2, and Novell NetWare.
All programs are much alike traditional DrWeb for DOS. Beginning with version 4.0 of DrWeb main virus base was escaped into separate file and was downloaded after program start, like add-ons, that allowed to solve base memory limit problem. Now DrWeb32 was splitted into interface section, oriented on work in determined operational environment and kernel, independent from OS. Such organization allowed:
- using of common virus base files for DrWeb for DOS, Windows 95/98/NT, OS/2 and Novell Netware (this was the reason of the same versions numeration for different platforms);
- attaching program kernel to different interface programs and application, that allowes simple integration with much applications;
- method of automatic virus base and kernel update through Intenet.
