New Blood2 Review - by zerein
| 22:43 |

Thats right! Those great gals over at Geek Girl's Guide 2 Games just launched a fresh review of our beloved Blood2. If you have been deciding if you should plunk down the ten bucks to buy Blood2 and want a honest to goodness current review you have to check this one out! Here is a little tidbit from the review:

If there is a point to this review, it would be don't believe everything you hear. I'm glad my Amigo had a copy of Blood 2 in his closet that needed a new home. If not for serendipity, I would have missed out on a pretty cool game. It's by no mean a perfect game, but sometimes we get hung up on the Next big thing. If you run across a Copy of Blood 2 in some bargain bin, I would recommend you grab it. It's a good deal more entertaining then a bunch of the new games I have played.

Once you have played Blood 2, the next time some message board type post "BLOOD 2 SUCKS", you can smile that smug smile and think "What a wanker".

Check out the review right here!

A big one goes out to Chella "GeekGirl" Kline for the info! :)

Remember QBlood? - by Infern0

How could you forget? Here's some inspiration from Sandbag

Bolts of light and sounds of roars,
Mighty Blasts which unhinge doors;

Looks down on you with glowing eyes,
Luminescent red that hypnotize;

Out from the shadows, a flash emits,
coating walls with cadmium mist;

10gauge shells he leaves behind,
Crumpled corpses lost in time;

From the past and present mind,
He now returns, the final time.

Inherit the Earth - by Reactor

There's a new Blood add-on in town, and this one's a doozy. I just got through playing a decent chunk of it and I can honestly say that if you're hungerin' for some more Blood 1 (and let's be honest here- that should be all of us) then this is your ticket to enjoyment ;) My advice: Download this beast and let Bloatoid, the creator, know by email what you thought. This add-on has pretty much arrived out of the middle of nowhere, and with an exceptional level of quality, I've been completely taken by surprise. Hopefully you will be too.

Enough talk, download!

Another red-hot release of GameSpy 3D. Read on, valiant readers:

TRIBES 2 support is now in the latest, greatest GameSpy 3D! Version 2.53 is available to you, the registered user, before we make it available to the world. As they say, membership has its privileges.

One thing we hope you'll notice: the absolutely BLAZING speed of GameSpy 3D vs. the TRIBES 2 in-game browser. It is a full 5x faster (8 seconds vs. 40 seconds) on my cable modem. Using SmartSpy to find just the siege servers zooms in under 2 seconds!
Check out FilePlanet for the magical download!

Why we won't disappear... - by Infern0
| 8:32 |

I just had to share this PB fan-mail with you, definitely the most heart-felt one I've ever received:

I've been coming to PlanetBlood for a long time. I've turned people on to Blood and Blood 2. It was the first game I bought when I got my first computer. I can't for the life of me understand how and why it has been passed up like it has by the gaming community, both players and programmers. I LOVE THIS GAME!!! (well, both of them..LOL)

Whenever Soldier of Fortune and Halflife get a little old, I go back to Blood. Blood 2 is awesome as well, but you can't beat Blood.... The gore, weapons... It's so much better than the games at the time.. Doom, Doom 2, Duke Nukem (although Duke had some choice moments in it's own right)....

"Why is this dumbass writing and taking up space in my e-mail account better suited for some spam porno stuff???" I'm sure your asking yourself.. Well, I don't know. I'm just a guy... a fan. A cog in the system, but I faithfully come by your site and look for some word of some little tid-bit of info on a new "Blood 3" or a proverbial "hitting on the head" of the rest of the world and everyone start playing Blood again..LOL.. (it'll never happen)

Please keep up the good work. I wish I had the time and knowledge to help you cats out in keeping up this site. I'm in the military and that keeps me pretty busy. I'll keep coming by, faithfully, until you decide to close down PlanetBlood for good. But know this.. there is at least one copy of Blood and Blood 2 out there that is not yard sale fodder, not collecting dust, not willed to a 5 year old as a shiney toy because it's not played anymore. And this as well.. I'm here and will be..

Just a little thanks from a no-name reader/player... Thanks for your time and you may now erase my rambling and push them to the back of your mind and go surf to "Big Breast Lovers. com"!!! I'll see you there, too..LOL

The Drumminmofo
Brings a tear to my eye. Keep playing the games all you good people, that's what it's all about.

Mailbag! - by Infern0

Rust has recently brought to my attention an issue that I think deserves some discussion within the community. Is the history of the FPS genre a sequence of ground breaking, revolutionary titles, or a collection of games that have risen out of the ashes of their predecessors? Here's what Rust has to say on the topic:

Everyone seems to proclaim every next generation shooter a revolution. Take Half-Life for example. According to reviewers, everything about it was revolutionary. Was it really? Sure there were plenty of cool things about it, but was it so totally different from the previous things that it boggles the mind completely? Every FPS game is basically the last one, plus some tweaks and changes. Very few games manage to fall outside the same series of patterns common among games.
He goes on to outline the basic patterns he's noticed:
The main character is:
1) A marine
2) A cop who plays by his own rules
3) An ordinary guy thrown into an extreme situation

The weapons are:
1) Melee
2) Pistol
3) Shotgun
4) Machinegun
5) explosive type fired
6) explosive type thrown

Oh, and as for killing stuff, you must battle:
1) Aliens
2) Demons
3) Zombies
4) Criminals
So does Rust have a good point? I want to know whether you think the FPS genre is a miniature revolutionary phase, or a rapid era of evolution. How far from our roots have we strayed? Where will we be in five year's time? What were the main disadvantages/advantages of the Blood series? I urge you all to don your thinking caps, and vent your creativity!
