Croatia, making their fourth consecutive appearance in the UEFA European Under-16 championship, beat Finland, making their first since 1992, 2-0 at Scunthorpe United FC’s Glanford Park stadium.
Style and panache
Croatia produced a display of style and panache to outclass their Finnish rivals. Somehow the score remained goalless at half-time despite the numerous chances created by Croatia.
It all changed however when the outstanding Niko Kranjcar fired home an 18-metre angled drive in the 45th minute.
Magnificent second goal
While Finland posed few problems for Croatia, the Balkan side opened the Finns' defence at will. They doubled their advantage in the 67th minute with a magnificent second goal by Kranjcar which sealed a deserved victory.
