Liverpool win UEFA Cup in sensational style

An own goal by Delfin Geli of Deportivo Alavés four minutes from the end of extra time handed Liverpool FC a 5-4 victory in the 30th UEFA Cup final after an extraordinary night at the Westfalenstadion in Dortmund. Markus Babbel and Steven Gerrard had put Liverpool two up but Iván Alonso reduced the deficit before Gary McAllister increased Liverpool's lead from the penalty spot. Javi Moreno scored twice at the start of the second half to put Alavés level but Robbie Fowler put the English side back in front before Jordi Cruyff sent the game into extra time with an 89th-minute header.
