Aug 30: A couple weeks ago I began to set up muttzilla with SourceForge. I don't have much going yet, but the mailing lists work. I recommend asking questions on muttzilla-users rather than e-mailing me directly, as I can be unreliable at times.
Apr 11: I finally found out what is up with Debian. They ship a libc5 Netscape, but glibc2 devel tools. To get muttzilla to work on Debian you either need to build a libc5 based muttzilla or install a glibc2 based Netscape. I'll try to put up some more thorough documentation RSN, but if you want more details e-mail me and I'll forward you the message I received which explains this.
Mar 5: I'm very far behind in responding to muttzilla related e-mail. I'm trying to wrap up my thesis, and muttzilla is way down on the priority list. I haven't even had time to post a new version with the trivial fix for the obvious bugs mznews.sh. I will get back to each and every one of you who has e-mailed me, but I have no idea how soon.
Update Jan 26: Version 0.40 out. This version smooths most of the rough edges of the configuration file support. It also adds support for dtmail (untested), VM (untested) and tin (barely tested). The library itself should be feature complete at this point. Future versions will focus on making installation simpler, improving documentation, improving the existing support for various mail and news readers and adding support for more mail and news readers.
Do you want to use an alternate e-mail client for "mailto:" links in Netscape Communicator, but don't feel like tracking down the SDK on Netscape's web site and hacking up the source (and fixing the bugs) yourself? If so then you've come to the right place. If you are running Communicator 4.04 or greater, or Navigator 4.6 or greater, there is an API available for third party mail and news readers. Under Unix, you can use this code to build the necessary library:
If you would like to receive announcements when new versions of muttzilla are made available just send me an e-mail and I'll put you on the list.
I have only tested this library under RedHat 6.x with Navigator and Communicator 4.6 and 4.7. YMMV. Feel free to contact me if you run into trouble though and I might be able to help you out.
Version 0.19 and beyond are essentially feature complete from an e-mail perspective. Support for reading configuration info at runtime from rc files exists, but isn't polished or well documented yet. See the enclosed documentation for further information on the current state of the library.
