New advances in the enlargement negotiations
Following Friday's meetings between the candidate countries' chief negotiators and the EU, a further twelve negotiation chapters could be closed. Important advances were made, inter alia, in the field of the environment, where a total of four countries have now closed this chapter. The candidate countries also had a first opportunity to respond to the new EU positions on free movement of persons and capital. More about the current status of negotiations

Ecofin prepares for Göteborg summit
When the EU economic and finance ministers meet in Luxembourg on Tuesday, discussions will include preparations for the summit meeting in Göteborg. Other issues on the agenda are energy taxes and a new budget regulation. More about the meeting
