Duke Nukem 3D: Multiplayer
Duke Nukem 3D is one of the simplest games I know of to get running over the
internet, and one of the most fun.
First of all, although they are easy to use and can often have a lot of nice
people to play with, try to stay away from services like Heat.net. Although ping
is becoming less of an issue for many people, these services can slow you down
quite a lot when you have 8 Dukers going at it.
Next thing is, be sure to close all programs like ICQ or AIM -- as well as slowing
you down they will often kick you out of a game if someone messages you.
Now that we've got that out of the way, how do we play Duke over the net? First
of all, get IC and set it up. Second, find a
friend with IC, and arrange a game. Find each others IP, type it in one of your
programs and PRESTO! you've got a Duke 3D game ready to play.
