Public Relations Director

Job Description: GameSpy's Public Relations Director will work closely with creative and business development management teams to conceive, develop and implement public relations messages, stories and strategies, as well as coordinate with outside agencies, and develop and oversee relationships with mainstream, trade, business and technology press, and industry/market analysts.

The primary goal of the Public Relations Director will be to create editorial opportunities for GameSpy personnel products and technology in the mainstream and trade media. Ultimate target audiences include new and existing customers, shareholders, employees and potential business partners. The individual will also evaluate and maximize the return on all PR programs and practices and will work with internal staff and outside agencies on a domestic and international basis.

Responsibilities:
  • Plans and implements the company's public relations policies and procedures.
  • Develops and manages public relations budget within established guidelines.
  • Works with external public relations agency to develop, implement and manage corporate public relations programs.
  • Directs press relations, including such activities as preparation of news releases and feature articles, developing and coordinating the arrangements of press tours, and arranging interviews between company executives and press, radio and television representatives.
  • Responsible for writing press releases, managing PR support for new product launches and coordinating interviews with our corporate executives.
  • Secure favorable product reviews and corporate news in the mainstream and trade press.
  • Conducts and interprets customer and public opinion surveys.
  • Serves as valued Marketing and Communications team member in the development of an integrated corporate communications strategy that encompasses advertising, public relations, trade shows, events and sales staff support.
Requirements:
  • BA or equivalent in Public Relations or Journalism is desired.
  • established professional with proven public relations experience in a high-technology and/or entertainment company, focusing on story placement, product launches, press tours, etc.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Self-directed individual to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists.
  • MS Word for Windows and Excel required.
  • PR agency experience is a plus. Knowledge of the game industry and gaming community is also a plus.
  • Experience in marketing, advertising, media purchasing and trade show representation also a plus.
