Familiar Face Snaps Omaha's Win Streak at Six

All Jamie Brewington wanted to do Thursday night was get Edmonton off to a good start in the final game of its four-game series with Omaha. Instead he pitched five solid innings and earned the victory in a 7-1 Trappers win that ended Omaha's six-game winning streak. This is the same Jamie Brewington who was demoted from Class AAA Omaha to Class AA Wichita in 1997 shortly after allowing two of J.R. Phillips' four homers in a seven-inning game.

Coach, Tempesto Girls Want One Last Title Together

The Under-18 Tempesto team has been a powerhouse, having won a state-record eight straight state soccer titles. In the next few days, the Tempesto will play in its last tournament as a team. Tempesto is one of 16 Nebraska teams that will compete Friday through Wednesday in Springfield, Mo., in the 2001 Snickers Cup Midwest Regional Championship. And in the next few days, their coach will coach for the last time. Salah BenSalah, who has played or coached soccer for 50 of his 54 years, plans to retire.

Exactly six weeks before NU upperclassmen report to preseason camp, the NU football coach said "all signs" indicate Stella "will be back on the team."
