6-4-2001 @ 6:30 PM CT: I got the buffering working! The player now plays files encoded up to 192kbps.  If anyone has MP3s encoded at higher bit rates give them a try. I also finished most of the UI.  The background sound some of you have reported occurs when playing files with xaudio via network or from main memory. I will be implementing a 10 band EQ, which might help with this problem.

5-30-2001 @ 7:00 PM CT : I decreased the font size in the mp3 list area.  I also added the ability to start a song using the action button.

5-27-2001 @ 11:55 PM CT : The issue with double listing of mp3 files has been fixed.  Still no answer to the problems reported by some people. I found one possible memory bug that has been fixed in this current build. Give it a try and let me know if the problems continue.  I won't quit till this thing works.  Also if anyone has a good buffering algorithm or code please let me know.

5-25-2001 : First off I would like to thank Vieka for all his help and Xaudio for making their SDK available. Vieka should take all the credit for the great network client I am using. I will be making all the source code available once I have contacted all the necessary people.

The ini file must contain the workgroup, server name and share where you MP3s are stored. Share the specific folder that your files are stored in. You must allow full access to the MP3 share. The username and password lines are not required and can be left blank. Place the ini file in the root directory on your pocket pc and place the other files together in a folder in your program files directory. You will want to use activesync to do this. After starting the program tap the folder icon. The program should automatically access your network and list all available mp3 files in your share. Double tap on the file you want to play. You will need a fast network connection. It will not play MP3s encoded at 160kbps and 192kbps properly. The network client is not fast enough to make those work without some buffering. I am still working on the buffering algorithm. If anyone has suggestions please email. Thanks!
