Our Cause
Many people have asked me why I chose to help those with AIDS and HIV as a benefit draw for GothCon. Besides the obvious, I thought I would address this here.

Back in 1983 I met an individual named Spider Lashayette. He was the biggest influence of my life and the best friend anyone could ever wish for.

Everything I know about life, compassion, honesty and truth came from Spider. Some of you in the oldschool NYC Goth scene may even remember him. Through the ups and downs that life scattered in my general direction I always had him to fall back on. Our relationship was unconditional in every aspect. In 1986 Spider contracted the HIV virus from his significant other. Not one day did he ever become negative about his condition. He bravely fought each and every battle that was thrown at him. To this day he still is the most strong willed person I have ever met. In 1992 he become ill with AIDS. I did all I could to take care of him until his death on Jan 10, 1994. Not a day goes by that I do not still fondly think of him and all he's done for me. It was devastating to lose him. It was like losing a piece of myself. I want to give what I can to those who suffer from HIV and AIDS, because each individual who suffers is not just the one with the disease. Those who love them suffer as well. I hope one day research will attain a level of completion and no one will have to suffer from this disease, or feel the loss of losing a loved one.

If anyone has any opinions on this matter please feel free to address them. It brings tears to my eyes to see so many people in the gothic community helping to support GothCon. Each person we help will get us closer to our goal. Thank you everyone, I can't even tell you what it means to me to have your support.
