MATERIALS:
• Size K crocket hook
• 3 -- 4 oz. pull-skeins Jack Frost Wintuk knitting worsted type yarn (vest)
• 2 -- 4 oz. pull-skeins Jack Frost Wintuk Knitting worsted type yarn (skirt)

SIZE: 30, 34, 38, 42 inches wide at bustline

___VEST: Ch 106, 122, 138, 154

___Row 1: 1 tc (treble crochet) in the 6th chain, * ch 2, skip 2 chain, 1 tc in each of the next 2 chain, repeat from * across. (25, 29, 33, 37 ch 2 spaces)

___Row 2: Ch 5, turn, 2 tc under the ch 2 space, * ch 2, 2 tc under ch 2 space, repeat from * across, ending ch 2, 1 tc in the top of the turning chain.

___Row 3: Ch 4, turn 1 tc under the ch 2 space, * ch 2, 2 tc under the next ch 2 space, repeat from the * across, ending ch 2, 2 tc under the turning chain (piece will measure about 30, 34, 38, 42" wide). Work even in pattern for 16" or desired length to underarm, ending with ROW 3.

___ARMHOLES: Row 4: Ch 4, turn, 1 tc under ch 2 space, * ch 2, 2 tc under next ch 2 space, repeat from * 3, 4, 5, 6 times.

___Row 5: Ch 5, turn 2 tc under ch 2 space, * ch 2, 2 tc under next ch 2 space, repeat from * 2, 3, 4, 5 times.

___Row 6: Ch 4, turn, 1 tc under ch 2 space, * ch 2, 2 tc under next ch 2 space, repeat from * 1, 2, 3, 4 times, ch 2, 2 tc under turning chain.

___Row 7: Ch 5, turn, 2. tc under ch 2 space, * ch 2, 2 tc under next ch 2 space, repeat from * 1, 2, 3, 4 times. Keeping the DECREASES as in previous rows, work even until armhole is 7, 7, 8, 8 rows long. End off.

___FRONT: Attach yarn to the top of the turning chain on the other side of the Vest. Starting with ROW 4, work the other side to correspond.

___BACK: Attach the yarn to the 3rd ch 2 space over. from the front (leaving out 6 tc and 2 [ch 2] spaces). Starting with PATTERN ROW 3, work even in pattern across back (leaving out 6 tc and 2 ch 2 spaces for the other armhole) until the back measures the same as the front. End off. Sew shoulder seams. Work 2 rows around each armhole.

___FIRST CIRCLE ON BOTTOM: Ch 3, join with a slip st to form a ring, ch 3, work 7 dc in ring, remove stitch from the crochet hook, lay half completed circle next to the first ch 2 space on the bottom right side of the vest, right sides of both pieces facing up. Pull loose stitch through the space, from the back towards the front, insert the crochet hook, and work 8 more dc in the ring, join with a slip stitch to the 3rd ch. End off. Weave in loose ends.

___SECOND CIRCLE: Ch 3, join with a slip stitch to form a ring, work 7 dc in ring, remove stitch from hook, lay half completed circle next to finished circle, on the left side. Pull loose stitch from the back towards the front, between the 4th & 5th dc (of circle) from where the first circle was attached. Insert hook, work 4 dc in ring, attach circle to bottom of vest as before, in the 2nd space to the left, work 4 more dc in ring, join with a slip stitch. End Off. Weave in loose ends.

Continue in this way to attach circles across the bottom of the vest: When you reach the left side of the front continue attaching the circles up the left front, around the neck, and down the right front, spacing as necessary to keep the edges flat.

___FINISHING: Block if necessary.


SIZE: 22, 26, 30, 34 inches at waist

___MINI-SKIRT: Ch 74, 90, 106, 122

___Row 1: SAME AS VEST (17, 21, 25, 29 ch 2 spaces)
___Row 2: SAME AS VEST
___Row 3: SAME AS VEST

REPEAT ROW 2 & 3 FOR PATTERN.

___Row 4: Work an INCREASE in every 4th ch 2 space by working * ch 2, 2 tc under ch 2 space, ch 2, 2 tc under the same ch 2 space. Work even in PATTERN for 4 rows.

___Row 5: Work an INCREASE in every 7th ch 2 space. Work even in pattern until piece measures 14 inches, or 2½ inches less than desired length.

___FINISHING: Sew seam. Work 2 rows of dc around the waist, working 1 dc in each chain. Work 1 row of CIRCLES around BOTTOM, as on the VEST (See vest instructions), working first circle in any ch 2 space, * next circle in between the 3rd and 4th tc to the left, next circle in the second ch 2 space to the left, repeat from * around or whatever spacing is necessary to keep the work flat. Insert elastic at waistband. Block if necessary.
