1st Battalion

The Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment (29th / 45th Foot)

Welcome to the web site of the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment (29th / 45th Foot), the county infantry regiment of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Worcestershire.  The Regiment has been in existence since 1794 and been awarded no less than 23 Victoria Crosses. More recently the Battalion has served in Bosnia, Canada and the UK and is currently stationed as a resident battalion with its families in Northern Ireland.

The Battalion is a fit, vibrant and motivated organisation which works hard and plays hard. While it takes its role seriously, undertaking its duties professionally and with dedication, it understands the importance of sport, adventure training and maintaining an excellent quality of life for single soldiers and for those married with families. We have a great deal to offer providing rewarding challenges and opportunities to all our members. Being a professional soldier, especially with a unit like ours, is tough, but nothing in life that is worth while is gained easily. We can show you excitement, adventure and the opportunity to work and socialise with some first class people - fellow soldiers who we know will become friends for life.

We hope you will enjoy this web site and take the time to look at our activities carefully. There are currently career opportunities for well-motivated individuals who relish a challenge, want a well-paid professional career and would like the opportunity to travel and experience unusual environments.
