P2P groups tell Congress: We can't filter
Responding to sharp criticism from legislators, a group of file-swapping companies told Congress that they have no ability to block copyrighted files or child pornography from their networks. As part of a lengthy letter to Senator Lindsay Graham, the P2P United trade association wrote that file-swapping companies should not be held to a standard that is technologically infeasible.
One gigabyte on a card smaller than SD?
Next week, a consortium of consumer electronics makers will unveil a format for memory cards that will be smaller than Secure Digital (SD) cards, which are the size of postage stamps, and will be able to hold 1GB of data. The format will put two flash memory chips in a single package, but will place the processors side by side instead of stacking them.
Apple offers iBook repair
Apple Computer on Wednesday launched a program to repair some iBooks with faulty logic boards. Problems with the iBook had been a frequent topic on various Mac enthusiast sites in the weeks leading up to this month's Macworld Expo in San Francisco. Those who think their machines are affected are encouraged to call Apple or an authorized service provider.
